Auberge de l'Escale

L'Escale is aptly named. For the eye, it overlooks the Canal de Garonne and its small port of Pont des Sables; for the palate, Stéphane Escos dominates the kitchen like a real captain.
On the terraces or in front of a beautiful blaze, "les tomates marmandaises" (old varieties), the fish fillets grilled over a wood fire, grilled entrecotes are a wonderful reminder that land and water here make the happiest of households.
