A small, personal campsite on the edge of the Normandie Maine National Park, a site with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the village of Couterne. Situated on the main road between Lassay-les-Chateaux (Petites Cités de Caractère) and the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, on the border between the departments of Mayenne (Pays de la Loire) and Orne (Normandy). A warm welcome awaits explorers in caravans, motorhomes and tents, whether travelling with a motorised vehicle or on their own. Our pitches are spacious and bordered by hedges. They are ideal for families or couples to feel at home. We have two accommodation units available for hire. Our large and spacious mobile home is available for a minimum of 3 nights. Our smaller mobile home is available by the night and is ideal for couples, families with young children and walkers/cyclists. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SITE. The site is open from April to September.

You are 13km from the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne and in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park. You'll love the hiking trails and the nearby Véloscénie cycle route linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel. If you fancy a spot of fishing, there are plenty of opportunities in the village, with lakes and trout in the river.

The presence of another church, also devoted to St. John the Baptist, is mentioned as early as 1181. At that date, it was donated to Barbery Abbey by Robert de May. The present-day building replaced the former in the 19th century. After suffering extensive damage during the 1944 bombardments, it was restored upon the initiative of Abbot Tessel, the parish priest.

This church bears witness to the existence of the village as from the Middle Ages. It is built on the south slopes of the Traspy valley, in the village centre.

This is an 18th century castle.

Founded in 1140 by Robert Marmion, lord of the manorialism of Fontenay-le-Marmion, and finished by his son in 1176. Well-known for being as strict as the abbaye of Trappe. It was partly destroied by an earthquake in 1776, there nowadays remain one part of the facade and some buildings.

This church was modified in the 18th century following its partial destruction. The frame is made of stone from Quilly. The pointed arch windows were created in the 18th century. The chevet dates from the same period.

This church, the only original feature of which is the decorated nave portal, has been modified over the centuries.

The church is dependent on the former Diocese of Bayeux, and is under the patronage of Fontenay-sur-Orne Abbey. The building’s Romanesque origins are confirmed by the herring-bone walls. The choir houses several tombstones. At the extremity of the nave, the clerestory door dates from the 13th century.

The chapel is adorned with side aisles. During services, one welcomed lepers, the other healthy parishioners. The nave is reserved for prayer and for those going to attend the service. Next to the chapel, the hospice vegetable and plant garden is enclosed within high walls.
