This changeable route flits from deep gorges and rocky escarpments to the tumultuous torrents of the River Orne. And St Omer marks the start of the ‘Crest Route’, overlooking the summits of the ‘Pain de Sucre’ and the ‘Rochers des Parcs’, offering magnificent views of this rocky Norman landscape. Mountain sports enthusiasts can indulge in: hang-gliding, paragliding, canoeing-kayaking, climbing, etc. Hiking, horse riding or mountain-biking, golfing, fishing… are also on offer. Travellers can choose from a range of stopovers: the Château de la Motte castle and gardens in Acqueville, viewpoints over the Orne valley, canoeing-kayaking bases, the Château de Pontécoulant, the Fosse d’Enfer museum in Saint-Rémy-sur-Orne, etc. This route is accessible from Thury-Harcourt or Condé-sur-Noireau via the D562 trunk road.

A small, personal campsite on the edge of the Normandie Maine National Park, a site with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the village of Couterne. Situated on the main road between Lassay-les-Chateaux (Petites Cités de Caractère) and the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, on the border between the departments of Mayenne (Pays de la Loire) and Orne (Normandy). A warm welcome awaits explorers in caravans, motorhomes and tents, whether travelling with a motorised vehicle or on their own. Our pitches are spacious and bordered by hedges. They are ideal for families or couples to feel at home. We have two accommodation units available for hire. Our large and spacious mobile home is available for a minimum of 3 nights. Our smaller mobile home is available by the night and is ideal for couples, families with young children and walkers/cyclists. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SITE. The site is open from April to September.

Les Bruyères offers a comfortable setting with spacious rooms and a sheltered courtyard with barbecue and garden furniture. Separate WC. Upstairs, 3 bedrooms. The 1st (34m²) has a 180*200 king-size bed, bath and WC, privacy screen and plenty of storage space. A 2nd green bedroom (18m²) with a 140*190 bed, chest of drawers and sofa bed. The last bedroom (8m²) with its four-poster bed has a 140*190 bed. In Neuilly-le-Vendin, you'll find a café-bar-restaurant with a bread counter and a hairdresser. More shops in Pré-en-Pail (12km) and La Ferté-Macé (15km). You are 13km from the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne and in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park. You'll love the hiking trails and the nearby Véloscénie cycle route linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel. If you fancy a spot of fishing, there are plenty of opportunities in the village, with lakes and trout in the river.

Successive building phases prevent us from precisely dating the start of the monument’s construction; however what appear to be primitive Romanesque architectural vestiges remain. The nave and tower are post 16th century. The choir, in ruins, was rebuilt in 1870. Initially under the patronage of St. Vigor, the church was rebaptised.

(XIVth, Romanesque style) The church is located north of the cemetery in the village. The western façade is a gable wall topped by a campanile. The south gable wall has a two-storey elevation: the first level is pierced by a basket-handle door, the second level is opened by two basket-handle bays, which are filled in. The chevet is pierced by a small square bay, and a twin bay on its south face. The chevet is flat "The church, which had remained a parish church until the revolution, and which has now been abolished, belongs in part to the Romanesque style (probably from the time of the foundation): it is not very large and ends with a semicircular apse. The north wall is the one that has retained its primitive character. An open belfry surmounts the western wall and contains the bell. "(Arcisse de caumont)

The La Métairie Chapel (19th century) is located at a crossroads, where it replaced the former stone cross referred to as the ‘Métairie Cross’.

The Bishop of Bayeux, Odo of Conteville, entrusted the patronage of the church in Curcy, placed under the name of St. John the Baptist, to the Saint-Vigor-le-Grand Priory near Bayeux. A 17th century Virgin and Child hangs above the entrance door which opens under the tower porch.

The oldest part of the nave dates back to the 13th century and has the peculiarity of being half-timbered. The choir dates from the 17th century. The polygonal tower, situated to the south, is covered in slate. The church preserves the remains of Gabriel Jean Richard de Cheux, son of Philippe de Cheux, lord of the village in the 19th century.

(XIVth) This massive-looking monument is in primitive Romanesque style. Its construction, according to a Gothic inscription taken from one of the Crusades, actually dates back to the 13th century, probably around the year 1269. Considerable alterations were made in the 14th century, notably to the credenzas and capitals The tower, finished as a bailey, was built on the west side of the building in the 17th century. The relics of Saint Sever are deposited in the church of préaux, during their transport to the church of Rouen. Legend has it that they became so heavy that they could only be moved after the parish was placed under the invocation of this saint. The church was restored in the 19th century.

A statue of the Virgin Mary stands above the entrance door. The chapel boasts a ribbed vault ceiling under which, beneath a rose window, three statues represent the Sacred Heart of Jesus and, on either side, St. Joseph and Mary.

Alexandre de Gallery, a former French Empire cavalry officer, retired to his castle in Trois-Monts from where his favourite leisure pursuit was to modify the church. The carved pulpit, surmounted with wooden statues, is of Renaissance style, as is the new choir, in which 24 helical column stalls are installed. The carved wood portal under the tower probably dates from the 12th century. The church is isolated in the midst of the woods, 500 metres to the west of the village. It was once part of the seigniorial estate of Trois Monts, the monumental castle and outbuildings of which were demolished after World War II, failing sufficient maintenance. Only a few vestiges of the enclosure wall remain.

Work to build the chapel began in 1943, under the impetus of Abbot Sohier. Its construction was made possible thanks to subscriptions, some from abroad, and thanks to land donated by Mme Lepoultier. It also required the participation of inhabitants from the village and the surrounding area. Work was stopped in 1944 after the D-Day Landings, to be resumed the following year. The chapel was finally inaugurated in 1946 by the Bishop of Bayeux.
