Let’s walk around the woods… An easy walk for families. This path goes through the Green Way(la VoieVerte)first for about 2kms . When you leave it , you take a small forest track-the forest is very thick- this track is a link between 3 hamlets in the South of Labastide- Rouairoux : Lafeuillade ,Cantignous et Fon de Santé. The tracks are inhabited by wild animals , particularly roe deers-you may see them , if you are lucky -, an important number of different species of birds who want to live in the quietness of the woods. On the way , you will see chimneys and roofs of ancient factories . In the 19th century ,Labastide-Rouairoux had an important industrial development with the building of many textile mills , weaving and dyeing factories .The industrial activity of the village influences the landscape of the valley still now . This industrial heritage remains an important indication of the industrialization of the valley .

This trail is located at the crossroads of the four mountain massifs, constituted notably by the imposing Black Mountain. Magnificent panoramas await you on the Thoré Valley, Caroux and Somail.

This hike is an excursion in the heart of the Black Mountain for a meeting with landscapes of a rare diversity. The view on all the Minervois and its gradient of hills, as well as on the Pyrenees will make you want to continue the adventure. This superb mountain hike will take you round the Sales plateau and onto the border ridges of the Herault and Aude. The rigorous climate on these high granite hills has favoured the formation of peaty bogs, beech woods and highland meadows: a wild and beautiful landscape. The ageless rock-lined tracks and wind-tortured beech trees are a delight and lead you through charming hamlets of stone houses which blend naturally into their surroundings: Sales, Lebrat, le Bayle ... Newcomers enchanted by the lonely solitude are slowly bringing back life to these hamlets which were the victims of the rural exodus. Moving on just round a rocky ridge you will come across one of the most beautiful views of the Montagne Noire: an incredible panorama of the Minervois hills rolling down to the Languedoc plains with, as a backdrop, the majestic summits of the Pyrenees towering over all.

From basins to rapids , in the coolness of the valley … The waters of the stream Candesoubre reach the Thoré , coming from the Black Mountain with a difference in altitude of 600 m. This extremely active energy was used to run many mills , today replaced by some small power-stations. The route first follows a shady valley where nature is very important. The lovely stream of Candesoubre goes down from basins to rapids in the middle of rocks, in a cool forest atmosphere . Going through wild ravines , you can see and hear some other small streams . After the hamlet of Gourgne, the path is at the cliffside and follow the stream of Candesoubre to join the hamlet of Labasset.

Following the wooded valleys of chestnut trees and then of beeches, you will discover throughout the hike the rich traces of the past with the terraces of cultures, the capitelles (pastoral huts) and finally reach the summit.

Discover one of the largest of all peaty areas in the Tarn! You will meet Marguerite and its friends, little Highlands Cattle cows as well as the Drossera, a small carnivorous plant. Time: 1.5 hour - Distance: 3.1 km Start sign on a little ope space beside the road in Lassouts Hamlet. The peat bog of Canroute is a wetland classified as a Natura 2000 area. Highland Cattle, little cows looking as though they had loomed up out of the prehistoric past, help to maintain the peat bog from the end of May to the end of September. This particularly sensitive area inhabits an atypical fauna and flora such as the Drossera, a small carnivorous plant. There are some precautions to be taken before starting this walk: No dogs allowed It is also advisable to have a second pair of shoes and socks (the peat bog is often muddy). You have to cross an electrified fence when the cows are in the meadow. Don’t miss the 360° view on the Puech Cornet at the top of the picnic area. Not practicable on mountain bike

Passing by the lake of Jouarres and the village of Azille, reach Rieux Minervois and discover its heptagonal church and its sculptures by the Master of Cabestany as well as the statue of St Jacques, on the way to Compostela (pilgrim accommodation). From Azille to Peyriac-Minervois, the path follows the old railway line from Moux to Caunes-Minervois, which is now a shaded greenway. Once in Peyriac-Minervois, it bends southwards to reach Saint-Frichoux, a village on a small hill overlooking the depression of the Marseillette's swampland. From there, the path heads west again, towards Malves-en-Minervois (pilgrim accommodation) to Carcassonne along the canal du Midi  (shared route with the GR36.) You can then carry on the chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle (Way of St. James) to Fanjeaux, Mirepoix etc...

A rare example in the Midi-Pyrénées region of an unaltered Renaissance leisure residence, where the lords of the Boissezon de Masviel community (now Murat-sur-Vèbre) resided during the reign of Henry IV. Overlooking the hamlet of Canac by roughly one hundred meters, the preserved site offers a wide panorama over the upper Dourdou valley.
