All the character of the Pays de Lapalisse in one circuit: Romanesque church, agricultural landscapes, small heritage, valleys, old National 7, house of character, place of legends...

A very diversified and hilly hiking trail between nature and small rural heritage. The itinerary crosses large woods with various species populated by numerous deer. A washhouse, a fountain, a pond, a waterfall, rivers and springs decorate the very hilly landscape.

Through a landscape of deep valleys, this route follows the region's ancient traffic routes. The Gribory mill, located at the foot of the village of Châtelus, is the last remaining mill in the commune. Today, the mill produces, among other things, walnut oil and organic flour.

This route, on the first heights of the Montagne Bourbonnaise, offers a panoramic view of the plains to the north and the mountains to the south. Châtelus was once a fortified village. Not much remains of the imposing fortress that once stood here. What remains, however, is the feudal mound and, at its base, the impressive Maison des Dîmes.

Free visit of the exteriors. This 15th century castle is a small martial fort with an imposing appearance. Its restorer was the 20th Abbot of La Bénisson-Dieu, Pierre de la Fin. The works and the foundation of the castle would transform the town into a small town, half military, half ecclesiastical with a very particular and very interesting aspect (we can also notice the fortified city gate -MH- with a niche housing the statue of a mitered abbot and below the cabinets of Pierre de la Fin). This castle consists of a rectangular main building, flanked by 4 towers of unequal sizes, oriented at the 4 cardinal points and pierced with loopholes. The ditches have been filled. ISMH.

This bridge (1752-1758) was built on the river Andan to welcome the roman road diversion.

Gathelière and its cross marked the border between 2 regions : the northern one with customary laws (oil language) and the southern one with written laws (oc language).
