Tour quiet easy around Najac to discover very old fountains in wooded and quiet surroundings. Start possible from the holiday village VAL-VVF at the locality Puech Moutonniers. Essential to the village life the fountains were supplied by drainage water from the Terre-Rouge/La Planquette plateau. They are called “griffouls”. The first fountain was built in 1344 in the Bourguet area into a granite block. Some ancient consuls and bishops faces are sculpted on it. The fountain was used until the beginning of the 20th century.

Tour approachable for everybody around the hamlet of Mergieux. However some parts have a difference in height quite important. This tour do not start from Najac, it is accessible by car or from the tours n°6 and n°8. The main part of this tour is in the forest. Some conifers were planted for the forestry development but the broad-leaved trees constituted the forest cover until the early 20th century. The forests around Mergieux holiday village are use by the ONF (Forestry Commission).

Starting from Salles sur Cérou, this tour takes you to Monestiés, one of the most beautiful villages in France, following the old railway line between Carmaux and Cordes. The Voix du Cérou circuit is perfect for a family ride. Sitting on the saddle, you don't need to exert yourself to cover the 15 kilometres of the route. From Salles-sur-Cérou, you leave the road to join the old railway line to Monestiès. The track is flat, wide, and shaded by the vegetation along the river Cérou. Once you arrive in Monestiès, classified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, you will find many picnic tables for your lunch stop. Before getting back on your bikes, take the time to discover the narrow streets and beautiful houses of Monestiès. The medieval town also has two sites to visit: the tomb and the Bajen-Vega museum. It is on leaving Monestiès that you will have to make an effort to climb the Jouvenate hill. Once at the top, you will have to turn around to admire the beautiful view of the village below. The return to Salles is a leisurely walk along the Zère stream. This hike will take you from the Sérénac plateau to the Tarn valley. It forms a loop around the Méridienne verte. A few heritage features mark out its route. t the start, on your right, you can see the Albigensian plain in the distance. During your walk, you will cross agricultural areas, oak and chestnut woods. In Pécotte, a small place in the commune where two farms are located for market gardening, you will see above all the "bac de Pécotte". It was one of the links between the two banks of the Tarn. It was put into service in 1880. Its activity ceased in 1960. Every year, on the third weekend of July, a festival is organised around this ferry. You will then go along the Tarn before reaching the high plateau where you can discover beautiful landscapes towards Alban, Assac, Valence d'Albigeois...

AIR LE PARC is located in a beautiful former 19th-century notary's residence, the base of which dates back to 1596, adjoining a park surrounded by old stone walls, in PAMPELONNE (Tarn), a 13th-century bastide town. The residence has been open since 2006. Artists' residency, project and research centre for professional artists working in all disciplines (design, painting, visual arts, music, writing, theatre, dance, film, multimedia, etc.). It is also open for sessions, seminars, concerts and training courses. The rooms and studios are spacious. Large communal areas are available for projects. A trip on the River Tarn aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat. The highest point on the Ségala plateaux, located near Valdéries (497 m). The mountain is overlooked by the ruins of the 13th century church of Saint Barthélémy. Along the road from Valdériès to Valence d'Albigeois, the dolmen of Gouty, classified as a Historic Monument, is worth seeing.

The Sérénac forest is equipped to receive the public and to discover the forest ecosystem (interpretation and hiking trails, permanent orienteering course, mountain bike course, picnic areas). La forêt de Sérénac, forêt de chênes, de châtaigniers, de hêtres de charmes, d'alisiers, et quelques résineux de 200 ha à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l'est d'Albi, était autrefois exploitée par le couvent de Saint-Louis-du-Désert. Elle devint ensuite forêt de production pour les mines de charbon et la verrerie de Carmaux. Aujourd'hui réhabilitée, elle est traversée de nombreux sentiers de randonnées et sentiers de découverte au départ de la Maison de la forêt.

This chapel was previously linked to a hospital and a cementery. The gate is the only remaining item. It was linked to and relied upon the Dômerie d’Aubrac.

Built at the foot of the fortress, this residence dating from the end of the Middle Ages, is said to have been the residence of the Senechal du Rouergue in the day when Najac was the administrative and judiciary capital of the Rouergue province.

This is a defensive strucutre built at the same time as the forteress by Alphonse de Poitiers. It is used to be part of the wall that surrounded the city of Najac until the 18th century.

This used to be a rest area (hence the name : La Pause) on the medieval road (former roman path) leading to Najac via the St Blaise bridge. Thanks to renowned fairs and traditional markets, this part of town remained a flourishing neighborhood until the end of 19th century.

Our restaurant «Les Terrasses du Viaur» is located on the banks of the Viaur, in the heart of a preserved natural environment. The chef's menu consists of a choice of two starters, a choice of two main courses and a choice of two desserts. The menu changes every 2 weeks according to the season and her inspiration. But for your comfort, you'll find all the contemporary equipment you need to cook to your heart's content and a cosy living room to relax in.
