The golden wine flows in the Sauternes region, known worldwide for its famous sweet white wines. The Sauternes region is crossed by the Ciron. This modest tributary from the Landes region is essential to the development of botrytis cinerea, which, in autumn, creates the great sweet wines, described by Mauriac as "an exaggeration of the exquisite". The Sauternes region is a gentle place to discover, rich in a thousand details, with its omnipresent stone walls revealing the abundance of limestone on the ground. On the GR®6 between Preignac and Caudrot, hikers pass through the Sauternes vineyards, then follow the banks of the Garonne to the quays of Langon, in front of its Saint-Gervais church. Walkers wishing to complete this 2-day tour will find all amenities in Langon. Experienced walkers can stop off at the picnic area. After passing through the village of Saint Loubert, you arrive at Castets and Castillon, with the Château du Hamel, the Canal Latéral à la Garonne and its locks. Once across the Garonne, and before reaching Caudrot station, pass through the village via the charming Place des Tilleuls. This route is proposed by the Comité Régional de Randonnée Pédestre. Departing from a train station or TER bus stop, it allows you to join a walking or hiking itinerary and take a stroll in ecomobility!

Discover Noaillan with the Municipal Youth Council! On the initiative of the Municipal Youth Council, the heritage trail was inaugurated on 17 November 2018. You leave from the site of Antonion on the edge of Ciron, you go up the Ciron river to discover the castle of Noaillan, the church, the children's forest, the Dubernet estate, the wash-house. This 2 hour walk along the water will make you discover the heritage of Noaillan. On the route, you will discover QR-Codes that you can flash with your smartphone to access additional information. This route is accessible to everyone, even children.

This booklet was created by the children of the Preignac leisure center. Follow the trails of Robin and his friends to discover the architectural and landscape heritage of the village of Preignac. You'll set off from the Place de la Mairie to visit the Church of St Vincent, the old port and the Château D'Armajan des Ormes, then return to the starting point via the Salle des Fêtes. A self-guided walk for the whole family to discover the little-known history of this South Gironde village. Founded in the eighteenth century, Château La Tour Blanche is a 40 hectares estate located in the commune of Bommes. The last owner, Daniel "Osiris" Iffla, left the chateau to the French state, on the condition that a Wine School was set up offering free practical experience.

The work of several centuries, Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Premier Grand Cru Classé de Sauternes in 1855, has been owned by Silvio Denz, who also owns the Lalique crystal factory, since 2014 The vineyard has 18 hectares throughout the appellation. Château Sigalas Rabaud is the smallest estate of the 1855’s “1er Grands Crus”, with 14 hectares in one piece of homogeneous soil. At the heart of this land, you will find the Charterhouse (situated at less than 500 meters from the Château d'Yquem), surrounded by the storehouse and outbuildings. The Château Clare is located in a little background of nature, in a clearing of the Landiras forest, where pines protect the Château from the heat of the wind coming from the Atlantic. It is in 1733 that the Carreyre family - winegrowers from father to son - buy the domain. The name Clare would have been symbolically chosen by one of the ancestors, by love to a Claire. 5 generations have passed and since 1991, Thierry has strongly developed the vineyard - which went from 9 to 17 ha. The vines are devided onto 2 areas of little Graves - some of whom are very deep (to 8/10 meters). Very filtering, the Graves guarantee to vines a regulary water supply, reinforced by the presence of the famous underground Budos sources, which provide all the south of Bordeaux. This little background of nature give its full measure in a fruity and fleshy Graves.

At the 11th century, there was already a church with an apse and a transept similar to the ones within the actual church. The first reworking was from the 12th century with a cut stone building, and the church had only one nave. During the 16th century, the chuch was enlarged with a side aisle (south), flanked with 3 butress. In 1765, a new bell tower was erected, joined to the roman portal. During the 19th century, the church was reworked. The apse contains beautiful capitals with a straight bay and an arch : on the left Daniel is blessing the lions and on the right, the felines are spiting rinceau.

The chapel of Brax was built in the 13th century, without it being possible to identify its owner with certainty. Parish church or chapel? To this day, the sources remain silent on this subject. The indication "parish of Brax" or "Brachs" appears in 1307. Until the end of the century, it was dependent on the archpriesthood of Cernès and paid tithes to the Collège Saint-André of Bordeaux. In the 15th century, no ancient text or account book mentions it. However, in the archives of the diocese of Bordeaux, a "chapel of Lerre" is mentioned in Landiras. Is it Brax? From the beginning of the 17th century until 1763, it belonged to the priory of Bardenac and to the Society of Jesus, which undertook transformation work. During the French Revolution, it was bought by Joachim de Chalup who transformed it into a farm, then it was definitively abandoned.

Winemakers from several generations oriented to an organic farming since 1963, this is a 100% family estate. There are legal documents from 1632 ! Château de Monbazan is located in the heart of Graves and Sauternes regions, in Landiras, between vines and the Landes forest, away from pollution. We are lucky to have the typical three terroirs of the Graves appellation : sand, clay and gravels.

Romanesque church restored in 1886.

A remnant of the 19th century, the bread oven of Cabiros was restored in 2002 / 2003. Every inhabitant can use it with the authorization of the Town Hall. Every year, towards the end of August, a festival is organized around the oven.
