Authentic discovery of Pevange, Moselle, Lorraine

This circuit takes you along quiet roads where you can discover the nature of central Moselle, recognised at European level for the diversity of its plant and animal life. Vast stretches of water alternate with open agricultural landscapes run by isolated farmhouses. While the first part of the route is rather hilly and wooded, the second part is located on the plain in the middle of ponds.

The Seille is the backbone of the Saulnois area (Pays du Saulnois). The small river was a main thoroughfare for the flat-bottomed barges filled with “white gold”, as salt was termed, from Dieuze, Marsal, Moyenvic, and Vic-sur-Seille and managed to preserve its remarkable heritage linked to this period of salt mining. Vic-sur-Seille is where the local painter Georges de la Tour entered the history of art thanks to his chiaro-oscuro technique, and the town hosts a remarkable museum devoted to the artist.

Starting in Dieuze, this 8-km circuit takes you through the remarkable landscapes around the Lindre lake, a natural site recognised across Europe and the world for the richness of its plant and animal life and its landscapes.

This landscape loop leads through the national forest and century-old orchards. Along the way, discover the Val de la Petite Seille, the salt meadows and the typical landscapes of the Saulnois.

This footpath joins the Entre les Deux Seilles and Entre Vergers et Forêts circuits, partly following the Petite Seille.

Dieuze reveals a remarkable 18th century heritage in the heart of its former royal saltworks. The Domaine départemental de Lindre offers you a thousand hectares of water, reeds, meadows and forests and the vision of an exceptional landscape. Tarquimpol, a village located on a peninsula of the Lindre lake, will surprise you with its hidden Gallo-Roman heritage.

This circuit allows you to discover the surroundings of Dieuze by mountain bike or on horseback. This town is known for its former Royal Salt Works. Not far away, the domain of Lindre reveals a preserved nature that can be observed from various observation sites, including the very wild Tarquimpol peninsula. On the heights of the Bride forest, the view extends as far as the blue line of the Vosges.

This walking route links the Tensch pond site with the Porte du Saulnois circuit in Léning.

Starting from Dieuze or Marsal, this round-trip route connects these two localities marked by the rich history of salt in the region. The Salt Museum and the salt marshes of Marsal, along with the Royal Saltworks of Dieuze, are the last remnants of a prosperous era. The quiet roads separating these two localities will introduce you to the typical village of Blanche-Église and the Seille valley, surrounded by wooded hills. Enjoy a stop by the Lindre pond. The Domaine de Lindre, owned by the Moselle Department, is recognized as a community and international natural site for the richness of its flora, fauna, and landscapes. It is also the largest fish pond in France.

The GR5 hiking route (European path 2) links the North Sea to the Mediterranean. It enters France in Mondorff. This 75 km stage leads from Dieuze via the Pays des Etangs lakes to the summit of Donon.

Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

Belle église-grange de 1743, avec clocher à bulbe de 1784 ; cette église possède une piéta du 15è siècle, et a conservé son ossuaire. L'édifice est l'ancienne église-mère de plusieurs villages, placée aux confins de ceux-ci (Bérig, Bistroff, Vallerange) dans le minuscule hameau de Vintrange. Cette situation en fait l'un des endroits les plus singuliers de la campagne mosellane. Par arrêté du Préfet de région, considérant que l'ossuaire présente un intérêt public aux plans de l'ethnologie et de l'histoire, la commission régionale du patrimoine historique l'a inscrit sur l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques, en totalité. Les facteurs Verschneider et Krempf, de Rémering-lès-Puttelange, construisirent, en 1878, un orgue de 18 jeux sur 2 claviers et pédale, que l'on peut encore admirer aujourd'hui. Nous n'avons malheureusement aucun renseignement sur l'histoire de la construction de cet orgue, les archives paroissiales antérieures à 1928 étant introuvables ; la date de construction de l'instrument a été relevée dans un extrait des délibérations du conseil de fabrique, daté du 26 février 1928, et dans lequel il était question de faire réparer le "jeu d'orgue installé en 1878". Statue et mémorial en l'honneur du célèbre guérisseur Michel VARIS né le 14 mai 1777 à Linstroff et décédé le 13 juillet 1850 à Bérig-Vintrange. Il soignait par charité les gens et les bêtes à une époque et dans une région où les médecins étaient rares.

La Côte Saint-Jean offre un panorama exceptionnel sur la vallée de la Seille avec la ligne des Vosges, la Seille, l'ancienne voie gallo-romaine que l'on devine, quelques cuestas (buttes témoins qui ont résisté à l'érosion) et les différents villages (Dieuze, Blanche-église, Mulcey, Moyenvic). Une table d'orientation permet de se repérer et de comprendre les grands enjeux du passé de ce territoire avec l'Or blanc.

"Located in the "Porte de France", the oldest town gate, the Salt Museum at Marsal tells the story of "white gold" via salt production techniques from the prehistoric age to modern times and in particular the so-called "briquetage" technique which consisted of heating the brine in ceramic vessels. From saltwater pools to the impressive collection of saltcellars, the visitor will travel through a world of salt in all its forms. The museum also displays valuable archeological artifacts and traces the history of Vauban's fortifications."

L'église Saint-Etienne domine le village de Riche. Si l'édifice en lui-même, comme beaucoup d'églises de campagne, est dépourvu de style, elle réserve de belles surprises au visiteur qui en franchit le seuil. Le mobilier qu'elle abrite constitue un joyau de l'art religieux. Le village de Riche s'est dramatiquement fait connaître par les combats qui ont eu lieu les 19 et 20 août 1914. En direction de Morhange, l'importante nécropole nationale de Riche abrite une chapelle gothique édifiée en 1928.

Born in Vic-sur-Seille, Moselle, to a family of bakers, Georges de La Tour was one of the greatest French painters of the 17th century. The Musée départemental is located in the heart of the town. Boasting a highly coherent painting collection - spanning French painting from the 17th to the early 20th century - the Musée Départemental Georges de la Tour offers 960 m² of exhibition space, spread over 3 floors of around 130 m² each. 17th-century painting on the 1st floor, landscape and 18th-century painting on the 2nd floor and, under the glass roof, Romanticism and the period from the 19th to the early 20th century. The Vicois collections are housed in the basement, a reference to the foundations of Georges de la Tour's birthplace. The highlight of these collections is "St. John the Baptist in the Desert", recognized as a major work, which shows St. John the Baptist, a thin adolescent leaning on a wooden cross. The mid-body framing in a wide format allows comparison with Caravaggio's painting of the same theme.

The Domaine de Lindre is a nature park covering some 1,000 hectares. The jewel in its crown is the lake, Etang de Lindre, and its 11 smaller ponds which attract an exceptionally rich fauna and flora: 248 species of bird, 11 species of amphibia, 19 protected plant species, 4 species of reptile and a multitude of pond fish. Thanks to this diversity, the Domaine de Lindre is listed as a protected area in the ecological network NATURA 2000.

Small family campsite with 3 to 4 pitches with electric hook-up. The dry toilets are on the campsite site, and there is a separate shower/WC in the house. A small Gîte of 30m2 (ideal for hikers) with a bedroom and a living room-kitchen for 2 people plus possibly 2 children is available. It has been renovated using ecological and bio-sourced materials, such as the clay plaster used on our farm. Access is at ground level, as is the shower Toilets and shower are shared with the campsite. In season, we offer a selection of fruit and vegetables for sale. You can also visit our sheep. Ideal for a night or a week.
