You'll have the chance to discover Collonges la Rouge, Curemonte and Turenne, among the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", as well as Meyssac and its pottery, Saillac and its oil mill... and many others, tucked away at the bend of a path or sheltered by the nearest hill. Beneath its apparent gentleness, this little corner of Corrèze is full of surprises, thanks to the whims of Mother Nature, who has carved out its relief over time.

Discover a unique terroir: truffles, grapes and nuts are the fruits of this rocky soil. After passing through the villages of Portail and Triadoux, stop at La Bourdie to admire an 18th century dovecote-porch. Discover the castle of Perrier before reaching the restored oven of Crauffon. A thousand and one more steps and you are back in the village of Branceilles.

Red...will be the colour that will accompany you throughout this walk. Red...like the Permian sandstone of the stones used to build the houses of the villages of Collonges-la-Rouge, Meyssac and Lagleygeolle...Red...like the earth that covers the paths that lead through the mountains and valleys. Leaving the last foothills of the Massif Central wooded and cool, you will fall under the charm of the dry and poor causse quercynois, with its cazelles, its dry stone walls and its meadows with orchids. Admire also the castles and remarkable landscapes. Finally, you will find a little coolness at the various water points of the valley (Vell resurgence, Fondial marsh).

Sheltered by its three castles, the medieval village of Curemonte stretches along a line of ridges overlooking the valleys of the Sourdoire and Maumont. This tour will take you on a journey through history, thanks to its remarkable built heritage. Genoises and flat tiles, gardens overlooking the valley, winegrowers' houses and sandstone buildings in harmony with the landscape mark the transition to the Quercy.

The Meyssac fault is a spectacular sign of the junction of the last sandstone foothills of the Massif Central and the limestone sediments deposited a few million years later. It also marks a clear break in terms of landscape, vegetation, land use and agricultural practices. This is what we propose to show you through the nine educational stations.
