Monein is characterized by its double face, a historical heart and rural districts, spread over 8000 ha. The town center of Monein has the largest Gothic church in Bearn, the church of Saint-Girons. It is impressive by the size of its bell tower and unique by its asymmetrical frame with double hull of reversed ship. In the past, the wine of Jurançon was called the wine of Monein. One could almost say that Monein is the stronghold of the Jurançon vineyard. Moreover, 60% of the production of Jurançon is made in Monein. It is thus the privileged place to go to meet the wine growers. The interpretation path, marked out with 5 panels, will lead you to the discovery of the history of Monein. From the Casterasses, you can imagine the view that the Viscounts of Bearn had from the top of their keep.

The name Saucède appears to originate from the willow trees ("saules" in French) that grow along the banks of the Gave. In the past, basket weavers would come to gather these willows to make baskets.

Jérôme is a young professional beekeeper with 200 hives. He specializes in the production of unpasteurized, cold-extracted raw honeys. He sells different varieties of honey at the farm: spring flower honey (dandelion, wild cherry, blackthorn and hawthorn), the sweetest acacia, summer honey (chestnut and bramble), rich in vitamins and potassium, lime blossom honey, which is transhumed in the Vallée d?Aspe and has relaxing properties, forest honey with honeydew honey, rich in trace elements and a woody taste, heather honey, callune honey and chestnut honey. You can also buy honey at the Cardesse and Monein markets. Jérôme also produces fresh pollen.

This fruit farm is in Monein, a Béarnaise village in the heart of the Jurançon AOC region, and which is well known for its famous church of St. Girons. The farm is on the road to Cardesse. The orchard contains 600 Roussanne peach trees. The owner, Robert, grows two varieties, the Campanulée - an early variety and the Rosacée - which matures later. He farms sustainably, using no pesticides, fertilisers or weed killers. His aim is to produce fruit which is good for your taste buds and your health. The fruit is ready to be picked from mid July to mid August but visitors can enjoy the taste year round in products such as jams, sweets, candied fruit, syrups and juices.

Lucq de Béarn is a typical Béarnaise village between Monein and Navarrenx. The estate is located in the heart of the Jurançon AOC region, surrounded by vine clad hillsides. The ‘Bois sacré’ is a nod to the village of Lucq de Béarn where the St.Martin family has lived for centuries. Today the fifth generation has taken over, producing their first wines from the estate in 2015. Inspired by peasant ancestry, the winemaking is based around observing natural conditions in order to produce authentic and balanced wines. Guided tours of the installations and a presentation of the sweet and dry wines is on offer for visitors.

On the edge of Monein, heading towards Oloron Ste Marie and in the heart of the Jurançon AOC region, lies the Nigri estate. It was started in 1685 and the Lacoste family has been running the property for four generations. The vines are organically farmed in a culturally innovative way which cares for the environment, mankind and the health of the vines. The cellar is organised with great attention to detail; the premises are hygienic, use high quality materials and temperature controlled fermentation tanks. The geological diversity of the land, the grape varieties, plus a lot of dedicated work, give the estate wines complex and original aromatic top notes.

On the way out of the village of Monein, heading towards Oloron Ste Marie, the Bellegarde domain is located at the top of a hillside, offering a spectacular view onto the Pyrénées from its orientation table. Pascal took over the family estate in 1985 and decided to begin winemaking and bottling the wine himself. Establishing cellars in 1986 allowed him to create his own style which has led to wines which can be drunk quite quickly but which are also able to be laid down. A hiking trail allows visitors to walk among the vines and appreciate the panoramic view of the Pyrénées from the orientation table.

This wine growing property in organic farming owes its name to the shape of the dome on which it is located, this place constitutes one of the highest points of Monein. It is the smallest estate of the AOC Jurançon appellation with 0,8 ha. On the large slope on the south side, facing the peak of Anie, are planted the small mansengs which give the sweet white wines with an amber color, fruity and rich at the same time. The big mansengs are on the west-northwest side. This exposure offers dry whites that are rather lively and very fruity. Le Dôme produces dry and sweet Jurançon wines, as well as a "Entre 2" vintage which is a blend of Petit and Gros Manseng.

On the hillsides in Monein, near to Pau and facing the Pyrénées, this eight hectare estate is very old. According to legend, a ‘gersois’ (a person from the Gers) named Montesquiou, came to the Béarn to get married and founded the estate which still bears his name. It has been passed down from father to son. Today Sébastien and Fabrice Bordenave Montesquiou are at the helm, producing five types of wine which are typical of the appellation.
