This route especially makes reference to the episode of the lost battalion. On October 14 of 1944, after a satisfactory progression, a surprise attack cuts off the 1st Battalion of the 141st RGT of the 36th Division from the rest of its unit. 252 Texan soldiers are surrounded by 700 Germans in critical conditions (without any water or provisions and with few ammunitions). The Nisei engage in a new battle of 4 days to save the battalion, at the cost of many human lives. The route pass by the Borne 6, monument sculpted by J.P Bianchetti and inaugurated in 1984 to mark the 40th anniversary of the liberation.

Les Perles de la Vologne : cross the bridge over the Vologne and go down to the left towards the Pont des Fées (yellow disc) Follow the path overlooking the river. Pass in front of the Pont des Fées, discover the Marie-Louise islands below and finish at La Vanne.Go up the same path and cross the creek, then take the path on the left (green rectangle) to the car park. Small 18th-century chapel, 3 metres long and 1.5 metres wide, perched on a rock opposite the chapel of Saint-Etienne.

A rather narrow gorge located on the Chemin Holveck. The passage is not recommended in winter and during heavy rains because the risk of falling into the water is real. It goes along the rocky brook, 3 wooden footbridges allow to cross it. Hiking shoes are recommended.

The Roche du Page dominates the glacial valley of Xonrupt-Longemer. The glacier came from the left and flowed towards Gérardmer located on the right. In the background, the lake of Longemer occupies the flat bottom of the glacial valley.

In the hamlet of Kichompré in Gérardmer, on the road to Grandes-Aumontzey, a pretty chapel with the dimensions of a church calls out: The Saint-Etienne de Kichompré chapel was built in 1901 by the Garnier-Thiébaut family, textile industrialists, (household linen) next to their factory. The Finnish style is surprising. It is a reproduction in granite stone of a Finnish chapel model, built there in wood. Inside, the framework is remarkable. The choir, which no longer has an altar, is decorated with 4 paintings representing the 4 evangelists. When you enter, on the left, you can see 4 statues whose origin and even the name of 2 of them are not known. A medal of the Virgin found at a depth of 2 meters during the digging of the foundations was embedded in the wall. A monument to the dead of the hamlet was leaned against the right of the nave.

The dam of La Vanne is a curiosity to be discovered by taking one of the following pedestrian routes: - Le Sentier des Perles de la Vologne - Balade poussette du sentier des Perles de la Vologne.

The Marie-Louise are located on the path of the Pearls of the Vologne. This place was once full of pearl mussels which the Duchess of Lorraine of the same name would have adorned herself.
