This walk invites you to discover Sombreffe and its surroundings. This entity, whose architectural heritage consists of several imposing farms, also has a feudal castle classified as an exceptional heritage of Wallonia. While enjoying the landscape composed of cultivated fields and meadows, you will discover the typical farms of the region and you will cross the Roman road Bavay-Tongres. After admiring the feudal castle, your steps will take you to the "Goffe", a picturesque place where the Sombre crosses a wall of reddish rubble and then widens into a sheet of water once frequented by washerwomen. The Sombre walk will undoubtedly please lovers of nature and tranquility.

The buildings that punctuate the trail include castle farms, chapels, and churches. They are scattered throughout the charming village of Tongrinne.The starting point is at Place de Flavigny, a few meters from the rectory, one of the oldest buildings in the village. You will also pass the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. It is said to contain a stone from the Grotto of Lourdes. Your path will also take you to the Tongrenelle castle farm before returning to your starting point. No signage.

Sombreffe is an interesting example of a mediaeval lowland château. It can be divided into two parts: an upper courtyard, with a porch-tower and dungeon, and a lower courtyard, protected by a polygonal enclosing wall with circular towers, and by a moat. The 15th-century dungeon has a fine upper floor, with a rib-vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, window-seats, and latrines. The lower courtyard was reached via the gatehouse which, like the other towers, has arrow-slits and cannon-holes. "Previously, the monument was located on Chaussée de Nivelles, at the school of the French Community (currently no. 79 81). The school was demolished to rebuild a new one. This was inaugurated on November 30, 1979. It was probably during this work that the monument was transferred next to the church, but this is not certain, since according to the Sombreffe website: A monument that looks on the wrong side - Unusual Belgium, the monument would have found its current location in 1970."Source: Bel-Memorial.org

The current church of Mont dates from 1858. It replaced another much older building whose tower collapsed during a service.
