A very pleasant family walk to discover the valley between fields and forests along the river. On leaving Val des Prés, park at the Draye bridge parking lot. Take the carriage road to the left just before the bridge, passing the last houses in Val des Prés. The road then becomes a pleasant track through fields and forests along the Clarée to the hamlet of Plampinet. Ignore the first junction (the left-hand track rises towards a farm), and continue straight ahead on the asphalt road to a second intersection: at this junction, ignore the left-hand track rising towards the chalets and Col du Granon, and continue straight ahead ("grotte des 50 ânes" sign): the asphalt then gives way to a stony track descending through meadows on the edge of the forest: this track continues along the river to the hamlet of Plampinet. Once past the meadows, the track enters the larch forest and crosses the Granon torrent, then continues along the Clarée to reach a wide footbridge: continue along the track through the woods to reach a small clearing. At the end of the path, you come to the edge of the departmental road at the entrance to Plampinet. You can continue your walk through the village. Return by the same route.

The hamlet of Granon corresponds to the summer cottages of the Val des Prés commune. Relatively uncrowded, the trail gradually winds its way up through the Bois de l'Infernet, making it a very pleasant snowshoeing itinerary. At the end of the Rosier de Val des Prés hamlet, park just after the Draye bridge, where a snow-free parking lot is on your left. Follow the small asphalt road to the last houses along the river. Continue along this track for around 150 metres: the snow-covered fields of the Draye reveal themselves before your eyes, and you'll need to take the second fork on the left (at this fork, old wooden signs tell you to keep your dogs on a leash). The forest track then rises slowly through a spicebush forest to the hamlet of Granon. For the more athletic, it's possible to go faster by taking a small path that crosses the various switchbacks on the way to the hamlet. The first old chalets du Caro appear, and you're almost at the chalets du Granon, with the Chapelle Saint Jean Baptiste at its center. It's possible to continue along the track as far as the Col du Granon, but beware: the track may not be marked. On the other side is the Guisane valley and the vast ski resort of Serre Chevalier. With this extension, count on 1000 meters of vertical drop and 3h45 of ascent. The descent is via the same route.

Far from the busy paths of the upper valley, the Dormillouse mountain pasture is still untamed. Its alpine meadows have enchanted many. Take the path opposite the parking lot, which rises up through the forest and is indicated by a yellow "Col de Dormillouse" sign. The path winds up a series of switchbacks on a slightly steep ascent, continuing until you take the balcony on the left towards La Lauze. At the fork in the larch forest, take the left-hand path through a combe (La Lauze). At another fork, take the path through the scree (arrow: Col de Dormillouse) and climb up to the mountain pasture. Once you've reached the Pinatelle ravine, continue as far as La Bergerie: the vast valley opens up to you. If you prefer, you can continue up to the Col de Dormillouse, in which case the climb is 1100 m and takes 3h30. The more adventurous can continue towards the Col de la Lauze, which gives access to Montgenèvre, or cross the pass to descend to the Chalets des Acles and Plampinet.

This runs along the Clarée for around 700 meters to reach Val-des-Prés and the beautiful church of Saint-Claude, which can be seen in the distance. The trail soon comes to a bridge and the Val-des-Prés bread oven. Cross the bridge to reach the town hall and village church. At the fountain opposite the town hall, continue straight ahead between the houses to reach the heights of the village. The asphalt lane then becomes a forest track which rises straight up to reach the forest, then bends to the left to climb steadily higher. Stay on the main route and ignore the small paths on either side of the track. The route soon crosses the imposing bed of the Torrent de la Ruine, marked by concrete and granite check dams designed to stabilize the floodwaters. Once over the torrent, the little path opens out onto a wide forest track which descends gently: take this track very briefly, then pick up the little path on the right, located in the first hairpin bend of this wide track. This path gradually descends for 400 metres before joining a new forest track: continue along this track until you reach the hamlet of La Vachette. Enter the hamlet of La Vachette, heading for the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation: just before it, at the narrow crossroads, fork left to reach the bridge and the riverside houses. Join the hamlet of Les Alberts: at the small crossroads at the fountain (after the bridge), take the small lane on the left towards the "chemin des noisette": a small carriage road that runs alongside the river and joins the hamlet of Les Alberts. This asphalt road "Chemin des noisettes" joins the hamlet of Les Albert after one kilometer, before crossing the Durance stream. After passing the fountain and sundial of the Kovacic house, the road leads to a small parking lot: turn right into the ruelle des Arbennes (indicated by a dead end). A few metres after entering the cul-de-sac, fork left to reach a small dead-end parking lot, and join the dirt track overhanging the parking lot: a short, steady climb is in order. Continue along this little path until you reach the bridge over the hamlet of Rosier and the Huttopia campsite parking lot.

The dirt track then comes out onto the departmental road and the Pont de la Draye bridge. Stop at the fountain on the other side of the bridge, and return by the same route. You can also continue along the right bank of the river! To do so, cross the bridge and take the small asphalt road on the right, skirting the last houses on the Draye, where the road becomes a gravel track and continues as far as Plampinet.

Mountain bike trail around the hamlets of Val-des-Prés. Depart from the Pont des Amoureux, join the Alberts, climb slightly along a balcony path to Le Rosier. Continue along the Clarée on your left, reaching the Val des Prés communal oven, cross the bridge and descend to Le Rosier on the Clarée asphalt road. Turn right to climb above the hamlet on a carriageway, Take the left-hand path, which descends towards Briançon. Climbs and descents alternate until you reach La Vachette on the asphalt road. Cross the Clarée, then turn left at a fountain. This asphalt road leads back to the Pont des Amoureux trail on the left before Les Alberts.

Terzo Alpini is a refuge located in the Vallée Étroite, at an altitude of 1780 m. It is part of the commune of Névache. The sundial at Val-des-Prés Town Hall was created in 2005 by Evelyne and Nobert PEYROT, a couple of sundial makers from Plampinet. With its neoclassical decoration, this sundial features the motto of the Republic, “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” and the village coat of arms. Like many modern clock faces, this one refers to the building on which it is located: Val-des-Prés Town Hall. The trompe l'oeil architecture of the clock face reflects the solemnity of the place: a stone base and cornice, pilasters or false pillars on the sides, and a semicircular pediment create a neoclassical setting. The motto of the French Republic, the faux marble, and the banner wrapped around the cornice complete this formalism. This sundial also features signs of modernity: - first, the local flower, the martagon lily, represented in scrolls on the pilasters. - the municipality's logo, featuring larch trees, is depicted at the top. Its function as a sundial remains clearly visible with the evening star and crescent moon in the center of the dial, the hours in Roman numerals, and the equinoctial line.

The 16th-century Saint-Claude Church catches the eye with its remarkable porch, which is unique in the Briançon region. Built in the Piedmontese Baroque style, its interior features extensive stucco work as well as magnificent paintings and frescoes. The Church of St. Claude is from the XVI and XVII centuries. It has a simple appearance, has many stucco decorations, beautiful paintings and frescoes inside. Having taken model on the cathedral of Embrun, which radiates throughout the region at this time, it has a bell tower of Romano-Lombard style.

The Zarbula sundial is one of the most beautiful solar dials in the Clarée valley. Never restored, it presents itself as the dialer Giovanni Franseco Zarbula painted it in 1843. This famous Piedmontese cadranier produced many dials in the Briançonnais between 1833 and 1870, among the most beautiful in the department; The sundials of Zarbula have a very rich decoration. The frame, painted in trompe-l'œil, perfectly simulates perspective, with the multiplication of right angles and light and dark tones of the same color. On the frame are placed two exotic birds that peck a bunch of grapes. Their anatomy is inspired by several different birds, for example the peacock’s long tail and the ibis’s narrow arched neck. Zarbula perhaps found her models in natural history books. Another characteristic of Zarbula is the background of the dial in faux marble. On this faux-marbre, it is written at the top the year of completion of the dial: 1843. In the lower part, there are two inscriptions: - "Z.G.F." which means Zarbula Giovanni Francesco. This is the signature of Zarbula - And "J.R." corresponding to the initials of the owner of the house, Joseph Roux. As in La Vachette, the time table has rounded Arabic numerals (look at the loop of 5, 6, 2), and the M of noon. A huge solar disk occupies the central part. From this disc leave the arrows that designate the hours: their empennage is also typical of Zarbula. The motto gives voice to the dial: once again, the message is severe. "Without the sun, I am nothing, and you, without God, you can do nothing." Finally, under the frame, let’s not forget the line of equinoxes. The most attentive ones may have already noticed the traces of the ruler and the compass that appear in the solar disk. The low degradation of colors has the advantage of showing us Zarbula’s work. It is decorated with simple geometric shapes (straight lines, right angles), neat patterns: this decoration recalls the Empire style of the time of Napoleon the First. 1815, the year of creation of the dial, is precisely the date of the extreme end of the reign of the Emperor. The embedded stone on the left bears the inscription 'W J LV 1809': it is a very widespread custom in the Briançonnais, most houses often have above their door an embedded plate in which letters and a date are engraved; the W is actually 2 entwined V, abbreviation of the Italian word vive abbreviation of evviva, a very popular symbol at the time of the Revolution; The letters "JLV" are the initials of the owner J.L. Voiron, and the date is that of the construction of the house. This custom is believed to come from Italy. The stone bench to the left of the front door also bears an inscription: Jean Voiron, 1828.

The Refuge's double sundial is the only one of its kind in the Clarée Valley! With two dials, facing east and south, it tells the time all day long. The east facade has the morning sundial, while the south wall has the afternoon sundial. This allows the solar time to be read throughout the day. These two corner sundials date back to 1740, one of which was repainted in 1932. The motto is written in Latin: “Ad solem vertitur umbra, forte tua.” This can be translated into English as: “The shadow is turned by the sun; perhaps this is your last hour.” The decoration is similar to the Regency style, which was in vogue from 1715 to 1723, when the Kingdom of France was ruled by the regent Philippe d'Orléans. The hour table is framed by yellow ochre curves and volutes. In the lower part, there are foliage scrolls and stylized flower buds between each volute.

The new sundial at Les Airelles serves both as a hotel sign and as a solar time display. Made by Evelyne and Norbert PEYROT, sundial makers from Névache. The sundial's motto "Obliviscere malarum, profer optima" means "Forget the bad hours, prolong the best". It has a modern function: it serves as a sign for the hotel, while at the same time giving the local solar time. The hour table is encased in a ribboned ring, and decorated with an acanthus-leaved thistle or carline. The lower part features the fruit that gave the establishment its name: cranberries. The upper frieze features yellow cranberries with rounded blue acanthus leaves. Completed in 1997, the sundial was painted using the fresco technique of yesteryear. They also rendered the façade in a beautiful yellow ochre, and painted the door and window surrounds in trompe l'oeil, as well as the quoins, which simulate cut stone.

On this stone, it says: «W R D». In fact, there are two interlaced V’s, and that means: "Vive Roselyne D", long live Roselyne! This tradition comes to us from Italy, where the 2 intertwined mean 'Evviva'. We will also notice the pretty blue and gray facade; this one was painted at the same time as the dial, with the stones in trompe l'œil at the corner of the wall.

The bistro is one of the oldest businesses in Névache, acquired in the 1960s by Thérèse and Philippe Donzel. "Au Bon Coin" originally had eight guest rooms and was a popular meeting place for locals for coffee or an aperitif. It was also a grocery store, a souvenir shop, a tobacconist, and even a gas station! In 1992, Nicole and Gaston transformed the grocery store into a crêperie. After extensive renovations, their daughter, Pascale, opened a home decor shop and tea room in 2010, and converted the guest rooms into furnished rentals. Then Valérie and Jacques took over the establishment, and for more than 10 years, they enthusiastically and passionately expanded the restaurant offerings. Since May 2025, "Le Bon Coin" has been in the hands of Virginie and Térence. As a couple of qualified and passionate professionals, we look forward to welcoming you or seeing you again! Since the end of 2024, the inn is run by its two new managers, Candice and Thibaut Lerich Meignien, who have introduced a few new features the return of raclette and a games library accessible from the age of 3, adapted to all ages and player profiles. An arcade machine has also been installed for even more fun. The must-try fire-cooked lamb is almost always available booked in advance, depending on arrivals. Restaurant of typical high mountain pasture, located in Fontcouverte, a hamlet +1860m. Formerly a place where cheese was made, the Fruitière now operates as a restaurant, and is an unmissable stop in the higher Clarée valley. Anything from snacks to real meals, you will find housecooked, local food and moutain specialties. Open everyday in wintertime, summertime and All Saints' Day holidays. Booking in advance is recommanded for lunches, and necessary for dinners (dinners only in summertime). Access in wintertime is only on foot/snowshoe, or ski. 1h30 from Névache Ville-Haute. During the summer, the road is accessible either by car, bike or on foot. Please note that credit/debit cards are not accepted : cash or cheques only.

Terzo Alpini is a refuge located in the Vallée Étroite, at an altitude of 1780 m. It is part of the commune of Névache. The Vallée Etroite is part of the commune of Névache, and is a listed and protected site. Managed by Riccardo and Anna Novo, the refuge is open in summer from mid-June to mid-September, and in winter from mid-February to mid-April. It is also open out of season on weekends (booking required). For New Year's Eve, reservations by telephone only. Catering by prior arrangement. The refuge : Terzo Alpini welcomes up to 34 guests (20 in rooms and 14 in dormitories). The refuge has hot showers on every floor, summer and winter alike (hot showers cost €1). Both the small rooms and the dormitory are equipped with wooden bunk beds, making for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The refuge comprises 2 rooms for 2 people, 2 rooms for 4 people, 1 room for 8 people and a dormitory for 14 people. Accommodation 1/2 board, picnic baskets on request. The cuisine: At Terzo Alpini, Italian tradition comes first! You can try Piedmontese starters such as anchovies au vert, beans in salad, petite tome, cold cuts, sweet and sour zucchinis and many other specialities. At Terzo Alpini, polenta has pride of place!
