This hike, by the lower mountain pass for Italy, walks you through a forest with trees of over 500 years and views on the top of the Guil and Val Pellice. From the car park, go up the road for about 100m and turn left onto a track. Climb for 400m and take the path on the right.1 - Cross a river, enter the forest and get on the winding path. The path continues on the right and overlooks the stream of Combe Morelle. Follow on level a trail a bit airy. Continue in the valley and in turns, leave behind a sheep pen and the Napoleon refuge on the left. Continue until Col Lacroix Start the descent on the same path used to ascend.2 - After 50m, take the left path. Cross the stream and follow the valley. Enter the larch forest and after a short delicate passage, follow the same path on the left. Continue downhill through the forest to reach Echalp.3 - Descend the road and reach the car park from the starting point.

The balcony trail, out to discover the ancient hamlets of mountain pastures. At the top of the parking lot, follow the hairpin bend on the left and at the exit, immediately take the road going up on the right. Follow this road until it becomes a dirt road.1 - From here, turn left and take a rising false flat track. Leave a sheep pen on the right and follow the track going down.2 - Reach a cabin, turn right onto the quickly shrinking track leading to the bottom of the valley in the forgotten hamlet of the Bertins.3 - Reach the GR58, turn left and take the single track. First, follow the bottom of the valley, then join the left mountain slope left continue on the balcony trail. Cross the hamlet of Malrif and after a technical passage (porting is possible), find a balcony single track. Stay on the mountain slope until reaching Abriès and the parking area.

Fast, beautiful and efficient, an alternative to the Bertins and perfect for tight schedules. At the top of the parking lot, follow the hairpin bend on the left and at the exit, immediately take the road going up on the right. Follow this road until it becomes a dirt road.1 - From here, turn left and take a rising false flat track.2 - At the point "the Chatelard", turn left and descend towards the Tirail. Cross the hamlet, continue the descent to reach the GR 58.3 - Turn left and follow the GR to Abriès.

Entouré de sommets mythiques du Queyras, vous ne saurez plus où donner de la tête. Traverser le village du Roux. Continuer sur une piste forestière au travers d’une forêt de mélèzes. Un peu après la chapelle St Antoine, monter à droite. Continuer la piste jusqu’au torrent du col Saint Martin.1- Sortir de la forêt et traverser le torrent, continuer 300 m sur la piste. Quitter la piste qui fait une épingle à gauche et continuer le long du torrent. Rejoindre une pelouse alpine et un champ de graminées. Suivre le vallon jusqu’au col St Martin.2- Franchir le col et descendre en Italie par un chemin caillouteux et raide. Suivre ce sentier pendant quelques centaines de mètres et tourner à droite. Traverser un éboulis et prendre à gauche pour aller au refuge du Lac Vert. En arrivant du col St Martin, face au refuge, prendre à droite et remonter dans des éboulis sur un chemin plus technique et rejoindre le col Valpréveyre.3- Descendre le vallon du Bouchet par un pierrier un peu raide qui devient rapidement herbeux et moins pentu. Continuer jusqu’au hameau de Valpréveyre. Au niveau de Valpréveyre, traverser le torrent, emprunter à gauche la route sur 50 m, puis tourner à droite et gravir la dernière petite montée. Rester à niveau jusqu’à atteindre le Roux.

Easy hike to discover the religious heritage of Le Roux. From the parking lot at the entrance of the village, reach the church on top of the hamlet, continue along the main road until you pass a gate at the exit of the village and continue on the track (GR). Pass the Saint-Antoine de Padou chapel, leave a path on the right and reach the end of the track.1 - Cross the stream, get on a path towards the ruins of the Montette, cross them and reach the Sainte Marie Madeleine chapel at the top of the hamlet. Turn right (PR) and continue on the rising false flat in the valley of the Col de Saint Martin. Please note the trail is not marked, follow the cairns and the yellow tags.2 - After1km, take the path on the right, cross the stream again and reach the track 50meters above. Follow the slightly descending track and quickly take a path on the left. After 200m on this path, reach the point"Ancien canal" and continue on a wide path rising slightly.3 - At Pra Roubaud, go through the hamlet downhill, cross a stream and reach the Saint Joseph's Oratory overlooking Le Roux. Go down a good path to reach Le Roux and the main road (GR). Turn left to reach the church, go down to the village to reach the parking lot.

Years ago, the landscape was very different; tomorrow it will have changed again. How can we preserve the natural resources that make up this landscape today? From the car park of Roche écroulée, return to the road, climb 50 metres and turn right onto a good grassy path. Follow the slight uphill stretch up into a larch forest. The start of the Pré-Michel nature trail is 600m away. Climb through the forest to reach Pré-Michel (viewpoint on Mont Viso). You can see Mont Viso in all its glory (3,841m). After a few metres, climb to the right among the tall grass. You can enjoy the wealth of flora in this area. Turn left onto a flat bumpy trail. You will arrive at a crossroads. On the right, a small circular path takes you back 200m (you don’t have to do this very short circuit). Turn left and descend on an even path. You will come to an opening in the forest that offers a second view of Mont Viso. Turn left and follow a flat path, which returns to Pré-Michel. From there, take the path that you started out on.

Beautiful views for these three lakes each offering everyone their own atmosphere From the top of the car park, turn right and cross a bridge.1 - Go left between the houses and leave the village. Take the left path and continue on the main road until you reach a house. Cross the road to access the house and go up a steep path for a few metres before reaching a track.2 - Turn left on the track and a fast right onto a path. Move up the curves, leave the ruins of Eygliers on the right and continue the ascent. Cross a track and a path, keep climbing until you reach the crest of the Serre de l'Aigle.3 - Pass through the valley of Malrif, turn left on the levelled path at the beginning and at the ascent to reach the end which leads to the first of the lakes of Malrif: Grand Laus (many cattle tracks make orientation a little difficult to follow the red and white marks of the GR). When reaching this first lake, turn left to reach the other two. The same route is used for the return.

This round trip circuit allows you to reach the villages of Aiguilles and Abriès Cross one of the two bridges, turn left and head up the Guil on a good forest track.1 - At the first intersection, go down to the left. Cross the Guil again and take a right onto the road. Exit Aiguilles and cross the river once again at the old power plant.2 - Go up a few curves on a forest track, reach some fields and take left. Continue on the track until you reach a road. 3 - Turn right and cross the Gouret campsite. Continue on the flat track until the Pont de Guil. Cross the bridge to reach Abriès.

Pretty and fun, this sequence of switchbacks in the undergrowth is ideal to perfect one's technique. Cross one of the two bridges and turn right on a track. Cross a stream, turn left and go up the Chanteloube forest road. Continue on this forest road that flattens after a short steep climb.1 - At the sign "pierre plate" (skidding area), turn left onto a wide grassy trail towards Prats-Bas. Take a left once on the road, and go up to reach Prats-Haut.2 - Enter the village and turn almost at 180°; on the left at the fountain. Pass in between houses and go up on false flat on the grassy hillside.3 - Go to the other side of the mountain, enter the forest and follow the marked trail that alternates between short descents and short ascents.4 - Reach a forest track by a skidding area, continue for 50m in ascending false flat and take the well-marked trail on the left. Take the ascending track that flattens and ends up in a bumpy technical part.5 - Crossing a track, continue straight on for 10m and turn left at the Bois Forant point. Go down a clean and rolling single track that goes from switchback to switchback. Emerge on a broader path, turn right and reach the Chanteloube forest road (ascending path).6 - Turn right and follow the track until Aiguilles.

Beautiful and enjoyable hike with the freshness of the forest. Ideal for beginners. Cross one of the two bridges, turn left and head up the Guil on a forest track.1 - Take a right at the first intersection. Turn right again at the next crossing. Continue up the forest road until an intersection at an altitude of 1 740m.2 - A track does a hairpin bend and another goes on straight. Continue straight. The path alternates between ascending and descending false flats.3 - After a slightly longer descent, at a height of 1,730m take the correct track on the left. Ignore a forest road coming from the right and continue the descent towards Aiguilles.4 - Regain the Gouret campsite, cross it and 200m later, take the large gravel path on the right. Continue until you reach the fields.5 - Cross, turn right and reach the Guil. Cross the river by a bridge and take a left onto the road. Reach Aiguilles and the point of departure taking the D947.

An ideal hike for families A downhill hike from the top of the Chalvet cable car to a magnificent viewpoint over the Clarée valley. Don't miss the military pill at the top of the Rocher diseur, a witness to the Second World War. Highest point: 2135 m (Arrival of the Chalvet gondola) Type of route: loop Distance: 5 km Duration: 1 h 30 (+ 10 min ascent in the gondola) Up: 85 m Down: 370 m ITINERARY 1. Take the Chalvet cable car (behind the Tourist Office) 2. On arrival, turn left towards the Terrasses restaurant 3. Continue straight ahead on the track towards Rocher diseur. 4. At Sous le rocher diseur, go straight up the rocky spur towards Rocher diseur. At the top, you can admire a large part of the Clarée valley and in the distance Briançon and its forts. On your right, you will find a military pill 5. Go back the way you came, first under the "rocher diseur", then straight ahead on the track until you come to a crossroads with a path going down on your right, heading back to Montgenèvre. 6. Take the path, which takes you back to the heights of the village. Go down the rue de la Combe. Turn left onto Rue du Rocher de Dix Heures, then left again onto Rue du Praya. At the bottom of Rue du Praya, turn left into Rue de l'Eglise to return to the Tourist Office.

Thanks to the ski lifts, you can easily reach the high altitude forts of Les Gondrans, part of the Maginot Line. All that's left to do is climb Mont Janus to reach the fort and its panoramic views.

Terzo Alpini is a refuge located in the Vallée Étroite, at an altitude of 1780 m. It is part of the commune of Névache. The Vallée Etroite is part of the commune of Névache, and is a listed and protected site. Managed by Riccardo and Anna Novo, the refuge is open in summer from mid-June to mid-September, and in winter from mid-February to mid-April. It is also open out of season on weekends (booking required). For New Year's Eve, reservations by telephone only. Catering by prior arrangement. The refuge : Terzo Alpini welcomes up to 34 guests (20 in rooms and 14 in dormitories). The refuge has hot showers on every floor, summer and winter alike (hot showers cost €1). Both the small rooms and the dormitory are equipped with wooden bunk beds, making for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The refuge comprises 2 rooms for 2 people, 2 rooms for 4 people, 1 room for 8 people and a dormitory for 14 people. Accommodation 1/2 board, picnic baskets on request. The cuisine: At Terzo Alpini, Italian tradition comes first! You can try Piedmontese starters such as anchovies au vert, beans in salad, petite tome, cold cuts, sweet and sour zucchinis and many other specialities. At Terzo Alpini, polenta has pride of place! It's put more than one exhausted hiker back on his feet! It's served with alpine cheeses, meat and sausage, or venison cooked by Riccardo. Small cozy alpine hut, nestled at an altitude of 2223 m in the gentle Clarée valley. It is located on a mound between larches, high steep walls and beautiful valleys with rounded shapes. Originality of the refuge: near the refuge, you can spend a night in a traditional Mongolian house: a yurt of about 20 square meters, provided with 5 beds with real duvets. Meals and toilets at the refuge. Atmosphere and comfort guaranteed! All the contrasting atmosphere of this beautiful Cerces massif is there.

The name of this hamlet stems from the fact that it is the starting point of the climb to the Col de la Croix. Formerly populated and active, the hamlet suffered multiple damages throughout history. Various avalanches that devastated the place, the one in 1885 being the most damaging, destroying 12 houses. In 1944, it was German troops that set the town on fire. The flood of 1957 left only two buildings that still exist today: the cottage and the Saint Laurent chapel.

Hanging on top of a tree or a twig, the Eurasian blue tit eats small insects, larvae, caterpillars, spiders and invertebrates. Once the branch is cleaned, the Eurasian blue tit moves on to the next one. Occasionally, it can eat fruits and seeds. The female nests in holes of trees or walls. It broods 7 to 13 eggs for 15 days while the male feeds. The chicks will be entirely dependent on their parents their first month of life.

Originally from the Alps and the Carpathians, the larch is the only conifer to lose its needles in winter and to bear this red colour in the fall. By falling, the needles enrich the soil and encourage the arrival of new species. With its powerful roots and flexibility of its branches and trunk, it settles in the deforested areas without fearing avalanches. The Praroussin forest embraces many individuals over 500 years old.

Water always finds a way! It seeps into the ground, it moves, it erodes and carves. When the rocks are too hard, the water turns away and looks for an easier way. By its actions, the water erodes rocks and dissolved minerals and carries them away in an anarchic movement. Enriched with gypsum and limestone, water can be in the open here. The limestone will bring forward and trap all kinds of elements (leaves, pines, dead branches).)

Construite en 1712 sur ordonnance de l’Archevêque d’Embrun, la chapelle fût détruite en 2008 par une avalanche. Elle venait d’être restaurée. Grâce au travail de l'association Queyras Passion soutenue par la mairie d’Abriès et la Fondation Patrimoine, elle est de nouveau sur pied. Son clocher à la particularité d’avoir 3 faces. Elles sont orientées vers trois grands sommets, le Bric Bouchet, le Grand Rochebrune et le Bric Froid.

Like all katydids, the Great Green Bush-Cricket has long and thin antennae. They can reach up to 3 times the size of the body. In contrast, short-horned grasshoppers have short and articulated antennae. The Great Green Bush-Cricket likes open areas, meadows, grasslands, bushes ... Sometimes eating plants, it feeds primarily on other insects, caterpillars and larvae, which makes it very useful for gardeners!

By gravity, the water seeps. Sometimes it passes areas which are heated by volcanic activity. The water heats, dissolves minerals it carries and charges up in carbon dioxide. Lightened by the carbon dioxide, it goes back up and retrieves minerals. Once in the open area, the chemical reaction (high level of CO2, air, water movement) allows the limestone to deposit itself on everything it touches. Strategically place any object for several months in the water, it will be petrified.

In spring, the chamois leave the forest which fed and protected them during the winter. Little by little, they go in search of the first tufts of grass. The males find their solitary life they will lead until the rutting (early November). As for the females, they isolate themselves in June to give birth. They prefer ridges and steep and difficult places of access where predators will have a hard time getting to. After a week, the female and the kid join the herd.

Restaurant of typical high mountain pasture, located in Fontcouverte, a hamlet +1860m. Formerly a place where cheese was made, the Fruitière now operates as a restaurant, and is an unmissable stop in the higher Clarée valley. Anything from snacks to real meals, you will find housecooked, local food and moutain specialties. Open everyday in wintertime, summertime and All Saints' Day holidays. Booking in advance is recommanded for lunches, and necessary for dinners (dinners only in summertime). Access in wintertime is only on foot/snowshoe, or ski. 1h30 from Névache Ville-Haute. During the summer, the road is accessible either by car, bike or on foot. Please note that credit/debit cards are not accepted : cash or cheques only.

A private refuge built in 2014, the 52-seat Lo Tsamou refuge restaurant is entirely self-contained and eco-friendly. It offers panoramic views of the Vanoise and Haute Maurienne peaks. Welcome to the "Lo Tsamou" refuge, "Le Chamois" in local dialect. Perched at 2,060 m, it is a splendid destination for a walk (1h to 1h15) from the church of Saint Pierre d'Extravache, the first church in the Maurienne, a starting point for numerous hikes and a gourmet stopover. Joseph and Lola welcome you all summer and offer you their table. Relax on the terrace and contemplate the scenery while enjoying cheese and charcuterie, or Savoyard specialities such as Matouille (tomme fondue with potatoes and charcuterie), pavé de cerf.... (Meals for all budgets from €10) And if it's snack time: crêpes, tarts (...with wild rhubarb), real hot chocolate... Come and have an unforgettable time: stilts, coordination skis, tug-of-war, giant skittles, wheelbarrow races, ring games and wood sawing with a skeleton key. This last game is very funny: you have to saw a tree trunk with this big traditional two-person saw called passe-partout, and it's timed! Easy access from Bramans: head for St-Pierre d'Extravache RD 100 (5km), stop at the chapel parking lot. Continue on foot along the path signposted Lo Tsamou à Montbas. Alpine pasture without patoos. Special meals (gluten-free, vegetarian, pork-free, vegan, allergies) are no problem, as long as you let us know as soon as possible!

On site: - The campsite’s grocery store: you will find emergency supplies, local and regional products. - Bread deposit: Every morning we offer baguettes and pastries by reservation. - Wifi: free near the reception but paid from your location you have 10 minutes free then you can choose a package (7-day rate example 21€, (2023 rate )). - Le Snack: The snack bar of Montana offers you a full breakfast to savor on the terrace by the pool! In July and August, we offer you from the waffle snack and every evening our delicious takeaway pizzas, burgers, fries. - A snack bar where you can enjoy a hot or cold drink on our terrace by the pool. Terzo Alpini is a refuge located in the Vallée Étroite, at an altitude of 1780 m. It is part of the commune of Névache. The Vallée Etroite is part of the commune of Névache, and is a listed and protected site. Managed by Riccardo and Anna Novo, the refuge is open in summer from mid-June to mid-September, and in winter from mid-February to mid-April. It is also open out of season on weekends (booking required). For New Year's Eve, reservations by telephone only. Catering by prior arrangement. The refuge : Terzo Alpini welcomes up to 34 guests (20 in rooms and 14 in dormitories). The refuge has hot showers on every floor, summer and winter alike (hot showers cost €1). The refuge comprises 2 rooms for 2 people, 2 rooms for 4 people, 1 room for 8 people and a dormitory for 14 people. Accommodation 1/2 board, picnic baskets on request.
