The Fruit and Wine Route takes you from the lookout point of Lake Serre-Ponçon to Rousset, then along the Durance to the gateway to Provence. It is an original and gourmet invitation to discover fruit and wine production. The fruit and wine producers along this route will help you discover their land! Contemplate the hectares of orchards and vineyards, visit and taste products bursting with the flavours and aromas of the Buëch, Durance and Avance valleys. Get away from it all and discover even more? Heritage and outdoor activities will mark out your itinerary such as the cliff of Céüze, the castle of Tallard, the site of the capped Demoiselles of Théus, the leisure centre Les 3 Lacs de Rochebrune, or the lake of Serre-Ponçon, the highlight of this superb tourist route. History: Fruit production is very old since documents concerning fruit transactions have been found dating back to 1358. The real boom began in 1930 and developed strongly at the beginning of the 1960s with the setting up of new irrigation networks thanks in particular to the construction of the Serre-Ponçon dam. The lake thus formed, the first large artificial earthen reservoir in Europe, is a water reservoir allowing the irrigation of the Durance Valley. The south of the Hautes-Alpes benefits from an exceptional sunshine which is particularly suitable for the orchards and vineyards along this tourist route. Along the route you will discover local producers as well as restaurateurs, and many perched villages, the castle of Tallard, between the vineyards of the Théus plain and the orchards of the Durance Valley which produce famous fruits: the "Gap pear" known since François I, the Passe Crassane, the Golden Delicious. The National Botanical Conservatory of Gap Charance preserves very old varieties of apples and pears.

For a few kilometers discover the natural resources of the valley of Jarjatte, a magnificent site classified by the state since 2012, for the recognition of the picturesque of this place and the work done by all the local actors for its safeguarding. From La Jarjatte, follow the GR 93 for 400m towards La Plainie 1. From there, take a path in the woods to reach the Permafrost de Combe Obscure 2. Continue until the Pasture of Mougious 3 and its magnificent panorama, before descending to Ravine de la Chaumette 4 (attention strong slope). Then join the Cascade de Mougious 5 at 200 m. Go back to the Ravin de la Chaumette 6 and head towards La Jarjatte via the Combe Bertin 7. Take the road between Combe Bertin and La Jarjatte for 1.6 km.

Balade facile, au panorama fantastique sur le bassin du Buëch, les sommets du Dévoluy et les montagnes de Savournon. De la place publique de La Bâtie-Montsaléon, devant la mairie, monter dans le vieux village et zigzaguer dans les ruelles jusqu’au château. Le contourner par la gauche et suivre la piste qui longe le plateau de Marésieu pendant 1,5 km. Au bout du plateau, descendre à droite pendant 50 m, croiser une piste et poursuivre le sentier en lacets, pour partir à droite en suivant la courbe de niveau, en longeant les champs cultivés. Descendre ensuite à gauche sur une ancienne piste pour rejoindre le chemin goudronné (Chabestan / La Bâtie-Montsaléon).  Prendre cette route à droite pendant 1,3 km jusqu’à La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

Cette petite boucle cyclotouritique sans difficulté rayonne autour de la Bâtie-Montsaléon, ce petit village qui dort aujourd'hui sur le site d'une importance ville gallo-romaine. Le site a été plusieurs fois fouillé et identifié comme un des plus importants sur la voie romaine allant de Milan à Arles. Depuis la mairie de La Bâtie-Montsaléon, suivre la D148 direction Savournon jusqu'à l'intersection avec la D 48 A l'intersection de la D 148 avec la D 48, prendre à gauche pour passer le Col de Chaumiane puis continuer en direction de Chabestan. Suivre la route sur 4km jusqu'au croisement de la D 48 avec la D 49 Chabestan. Au carrefour, prendre la route du Villard gauche. Suivre cette route sur 3,5 km pour revenir jusqu'au parking de la mairie de La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

A stop on the GR54 footpath that should not be missed. Ideal starting point for the Pic de Turbat, with 3000m of easy access. A stop on the Tour de l'Oisans (GR54 footpath) that should not be missed. Snacks and refreshments possible. Access in 3 hours; elevation: 900 metres.

Well-known to cyclists, the Col du Noyer separates Dévoluy from Champsaur. It's a strategic point that testifies to the vitality of the exchanges between these two massifs. From up there, the view of the Champsaurin landscape and its bocage is breathtaking.

At the foot of the highest summits Drômois and backed up to Dévoluy, the valley of the Jarjatte is a classified site protected since 2012.Between torrent, forest (fir beech forest), alpine pastures and limestone peaks. The meteorology of this sector makes it its richness.The climate of the preharms of the humid north and that of the dry south alps mingle and favor an unusual procession of natural environments.

Le Béal du Pont ou Grand Béal is one of many waterways coming from Aujour Mountain and flowing into the valley.

Overlooking the Savournon village, the Pic de l’Aigle – Eagle peak - overwhelm thanks to its presence. Visible from all the valley’s lookout points, it is an appreciated place for its panoramic views on the surrounding massifs.

The Eysserennes canyon, is a small canyon from which the same named mountain stream comes from. It adds an enjoyable refreshing moment for the hikers during summer. It also embodies “Les Terres Noires” – The Black Lands – name given to the Savournon and surrounding marls. 

In an old traditional farmhouse, a space dedicated to photography and Champsaurine emigration. Immerse yourself in the 50s through the lens of Vivian Maier, an American photographer originally from Champsaur.

Situated above the wine cellar cooperative, this sundial shows a horn of plenty. The dictum is : "May the objectof your desire remain amiable".

A large number of hikes leave from the refuge: Cascade de la Pisse (20 mins), Col de la Vénasque (3h), Col de Côte Longue (4h), the summit of Le Vieux Chaillol (3163 m), but also the unspoilt valleys of the Muande and Mal Cros! A little paradise only a 1 hr 30 min walk away! Elevation 345 metres.

Mountain campsite in an exceptional and natural setting, favourable for hiking and discovering the Ecrins National Park. This campsite will welcome you for a restful and refreshing stopover at the foot of the mountains. A warm and friendly atmosphere. You’ll be able to taste Cléa’s delicious pizzas, Tania and Pato’s generous plates, and of course a variety of tasty local dishes! Two caravans, a yurt, an equipped tent, and a gypsy-style wagon are available for rent by reservation.

The Souffles mountain refuge is managed by the CAF (French Alpine Club).  A keeper is present from June to September. Here you have the opportunity to get something to eat whilst chatting with a mountain professional or spend a night at high altitude if you prefer. This is a good way to split the itinerary in two.

Welcome in the heart of the "Ecrins" national park in the village of Valbonnais, place of nature and freedom. The campsite is on the bank of a small lake "Le plan d'eau". It is a quiet and restful place with a fantastic view The spacious grounds allow all campers to enjoy naturally defined pitches, with areas of up to 150 m². Near a typical village nestled between the Oisans and Vercors regions, campers can choose a sunny spot by the lake or a shaded area under the trees. Small streams run through the campsite, where children love to float their handmade creations. Mini-golf, inflatable castles, a snack bar, and a restaurant complete the Valbonheur experience. For sunbathing, swimming, or paddleboarding, head to the beach by the natural pool that is the Valbonnais lake.

A rustic cabin located at the entrance of the Hauts-Plateaux Nature Reserve not far from the Pas de l'Essaure, in the valley Combau.It is composed of a basic common room on the ground floor with table and wood stove (to envisage small dry wood) and a floor on the floor (sleeping of 10-15 people, to envisage mattress and sleeping bag ).There is water at 700 m but be careful, it is often dry!Remember to close the chalet at the time of departure (shutters and doors).
