On the spot there's toilets 🚾 on the side of the village hall, and 100m away bakery, butcher's shop, and in the opposite direction the relay restaurant, vast parking lot to welcome you. Departure from Etagnac salle des fêtes. New route with the link to join the Val de Vienne circuit. Be careful, there are barriers on the link which must be closed after passing through if you wish to continue on it. Blue circuit markings.

This trail is constantly on two levels, one terraced, the other clinging to the hillside. Passage near the Etricor chapel, Beaulieu former hamlet of the commune of Chassenon, with 4 diversions of 4-7-8-10 km Blue signposting. At the Etagnac roundabout, take the D193 towards Chassenon. At the bottom of the road, there is a car park on the right, 3km away (blue route markings).

The starting point is at the beach of La Chassagne where you can enjoy many outdoor activities. In the village of Le Repaire, take the time to admire the private castle (not visitable) of the 18th century, the chapel of the 19th century, as well as a dovecote.

The particularity of this path is the commune of Saint-Gervais which was attached to Videix in 1829. To see: the church rebuilt in 1458, the wash house, the fountain, built in a spade with a coping and famous for nosebleeds.

Cross the village of Chaumeix and its lake and walk around the Bugearas pond. Enjoy the architectural heritage in the village of Chaillac (Romanesque and Gothic church from the 12th and 15th centuries, classified as a historical monument, water pump, "sarcophagus", cross).

Behind the Lavaud dam lies a huge lake, downstream from the source of the Charente. Its shores and beaches are ideal for hiking and swimming. Children?s games, a picnic area and pedal-boat hire are available for family fun. A restaurant and self-catering cottages are also available for a waterside stay. Swimming is supervised from July 8 to August 27, from 1:30 pm to 7 pm. Unsupervised beach on Tuesdays.

Situated on the border of the Charente and in the Périgord-Limousin Natural Park, Videix is known today thanks to the Chassagne beach and lake. Built on the Charente River, the site attracts locals and tourists alike thanks to its facilities: beach, children's playground, picnic area, restaurant, hamlet of gîtes, pedal boats in summer? Take a stroll around Videix on one of the two hiking trails: you'll appreciate the peace and quiet, the natural surroundings and the special features of its built heritage.

This village of ancient origins was part of the Viscounty of Rochechouart in the Middle Ages. The last of the Haute-Vienne communes, Saillat-sur-Vienne was created in 1928, and was previously a cadastral section of the neighboring commune of Chaillac. The Saillat-sur-Vienne site is one of Limousin?s industrial flagships, and Europe?s leading producer of office paper. For relaxation, the commune boasts a large-capacity village hall, an ornamental park, hiking trails between the Vienne and Glane rivers, and a landscaped pond for outdoor activities such as picnicking, fishing and pétanque.

Rochechouart cemetery boasts a unique monument: the tomb of wine merchant Léonce Chabernaud. He died in 1953, and wanted a lightning wagon to be installed over his grave. The large barrel is made of concrete on wheels (the exact effigy of the lightning wagon), with a capacity of 100 hectolitres, and is mounted on rails. It is stained red, and the epitaph reads: "Léonce Chabernaud, vins en gros, Rochechouart".

An extraordinary event in the planet?s history took place in the Rochechouart, Chassenon region? 200 million years ago. An asteroid measuring one and a half kilometers in diameter completed its journey at 72,000 km/h. The Espace Météorite Paul Pellas is a permanent exhibition space, with a range of activities focusing on a number of themes: the solar system, meteorites, the effects and consequences of falling objects, impact craters around the world, and the French Astroblème de Rochechouart-Chassenon crater. In an area of around 150 m², rock and meteorite samples, educational panels, models, computer terminals and video projections help you to better understand the subjects, and on your way out, you can stop by a small store.

In the 9th century, the Charroux Abbey created a priory on the site of the present-day church. Consecrated in 1060 or 1067, Saint-Sauveur church is an exceptional example of 11th-century Romanesque art, in all its purity and austerity. Note the spiral-shaped spire, which dates from the late 18th century (1767-1774). Spires of this type are rare, and many people explain their shape by numerous legends... Note the frescoes inside, one from the 15th century, the other by Greschny in 1969. The church's gallery houses a Museum of Sacred Art.

Standing on a rocky promontory, this 13th- and 15th-century fortress was remodeled in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Renaissance courtyard features a gallery with arcades and twisted columns. Inside, two rooms house 16th-century frescoes. The first depicts hunting scenes, while the monumental second evokes the labors of Hercules. Since 1985, the château has been home to the Haute-Vienne Museum of Contemporary Art.

Overlooking the Graine and Vayres valleys, the Château de Rochechouart has been home to the Musée d'art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne since 1985. Landscape, history and the imaginary are the three main themes behind the creation of this institution by the Conseil départemental de la Haute-Vienne. In a remarkable 15th-century building, the dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation has led to the creation of an international contemporary art collection, as well as the production of works more specific to the site. In 1989, with the creation of the Raoul Hausmann collection (comprising 600 works and numerous archives), the Museum found its tutelary figure in the famous Dadaist.

Rochechouart has preserved traces of the fall of a meteorite 200 million years ago. The Maison de la Réserve (museum) is dedicated to protecting these rocks, which can be seen in many of the town's buildings. Its name is linked to the family of the Viscounts of Rochechouart, who reigned for over 800 years. The family's roots are to be found in the château, built on the rocky outcrop from the 13th century onwards. Since 1985, it has housed the departmental museum of contemporary art. The ancient fortified town boasts an exceptional built heritage: the church with its torso spire, houses built of impactite, the 15th-century Maison des Consuls? Costume tours on reservation during school vacations from April to November (see calendar) and tours for groups. Discover the astroblème (natural meteorite reserve) at the Maison de la Réserve.

With a surface area of 7 hectares, the Boischenu lake is situated in a magnificent setting where you can relax in complete tranquillity. At your disposal: fishing (1st category, "night carp course", also PVT certified - pisciculture à Valorisation Touristique "carnassiers"), shaded picnic area, children's playground, fitness trail. It is not accessible for swimming. A campsite with rental accommodation and a restaurant welcome tourists on site.

After a swim at La Chassagne beach, head to Le Treiz'Or, named after the river that feeds this part of the lake. Take advantage of the terrace, a stone's throw from the beach and overlooking the lake, for a convivial meal that's perfect for the whole family. The restaurant can also be privatized for special events: weddings, end-of-year meals?

L'Estaminet du Château is located in the historic center of Rochechouart. For all gourmets, dishes as beautiful as they are tasty are on offer, made with products carefully selected from local producers. To respect products and seasons, the menu changes every 15 days - 1 month, so there's no excuse not to return! In summer, enjoy the guiguette atmosphere and its concerts (program on the Facebook page).

While walking in the historical center of Rochechouart, you can stop at the hotel-restaurant de France. With a menu on a slate or of the day, you can be tempted by seasonal dishes cooked with local and regional products.

Dans L'Même Panier "Casse-Croûte" is an extension of the local produce store in the town center. On the banks of the Graine, Vincent and his team offer you a buffet for 20?/person: hot drinks, soup served in a cauldron and all-you-can-eat bread (tea, coffee), a plate of cold meats and cheeses, six make-your-own crêpes accompanied by jams, honey or spreads, not forgetting a glass of wine or hot chocolate.
