This walk will take you through the pretty little hamlets of Montardit and you'll discover the unusual little chapel of Notre Dame de la Goutte. This curious little chapel, worthy of a surrealist sculptor, was built in 1968 by Abbé Jean-Marie Piquemal and has become a place of pilgrimage during the liturgical feast of Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs on 15 September. The place exudes a kind of peacefulness and quiet strength.

Loop starting from the Chemin de Carraou. Starting from the stone bridge over the River Lens, this loop will take you through the heritage and countryside of the village of Cassagne and the surrounding area, as far as the village of Belbèze-en-Comminges.

Departing from the small village of Contrazy, this pleasant hike will take you between forest and open views, to contemplate the hills of the foothills topped by the Pyrenean massif. This walk will take you to the highest point in the Volvestre Ariègeois at an altitude of 698 m (signposted). This walk begins on a very pretty path leading up to the ‘old canton of St Girons’. As you follow this boundary, you'll be treated to a beautiful panoramic view of the hilly commune of Montesquieu-Avantès and its farms scattered throughout the landscape. At the end of the forest (marked by a milestone), you will know that you are at the meeting point of three cantons, Le Mas d'Azil to the east, St Girons to the south and Ste Croix to the west, and four communes, Camarade, Montesquieu-Aventès, Contrazy and Mauvezin de Ste Croix. On the way back to Contrazy, just before the village, you'll discover a magnificent view of Lasserre and the Pyrenees, overlooking the church at Montardit. You can also enjoy a view of the fir forest, which in autumn offers a patchwork of colours from the dark green of the firs to the shimmering colours of the broad-leaved trees.

See the green Salat valley, via Salies-du-Salat A route designed specifically for cyclists. Part of the VELOSUD (V81), this level route takes you from Roquefort-sur-Garonne (link with the TransGarona - V83) to Castagnède, via the spa town of Salies-du-Salat and Mane on a former railway line, a stretch of 15 km. At Castagnède, you'll find a link with the Ariège greenway, which will take you to Foix (via Saint-Lizier and Saint-Girons in the Couserans).

Accompanied by a Pass'enGers guide, you will start the day with a 4 km hike (80 m cumulative elevation gain) on the A p'Art trail. This course is punctuated by works of art in the heart of nature and offers a beautiful panorama of the Gers hills. At the end of the hike, you will discover the history of this picturesque village where wooden houses and brick architecture compete in elegance, as well as the architecture of the abbey-church redesigned by Viollet-Le-Duc. At lunchtime, a gourmet picnic awaits you, consisting only of local products: duck and black pork terrines, vegetarian tartines, melon, floc de Gascogne and craft beers, Côtes de Gascogne wine, apple juice, biscuits... Everything comes from a radius of 50 km maximum. In the afternoon, you will be able to visit independently the peasant museum, and admire its reproductions of mastodons (not included in the price). A museum dedicated to RIZLA CROIX from 1874 to 1994. Open 2026: from 16 April to September, Wednesday to Saturday, 2pm to 6pm. Visits are provided by volunteers from the association. Lacroix, an industrialist coming from a paper dynasty in the Charentes region, rented a former paper-mill that was installed on some old mills. This is how the legendary Rizla Croix cigarette rolling paper was born… The museum started in 1994. Even if Rizla’s manufacturing was terminated at this site, the museum reviews 2 centuries of labourer history and relates the entire manufacture process.
