Serre Ponçon dam, the little sea of the Southern Alps, the water tower of Provence 1) At the rond-point du barrage, turn right onto the D3 towards Rousset. At the EDF sign, head up towards the Serre Ponçon dam and stay on the main road. At the Muséoscope du Lac junction, turn left to reach Rousset-village (2km). Cross Rousset, choosing the options on the left, staying on the main road and then climbing the gravel path.2) At the Pré du Laus pass, climb to the right and then to the left. Follow this main track to the Espinasse solar farm. At the solar farm, climb steeply to the right. At the barrier, continue along the track to the left. Stay on the main road as far as Vière. At Vière (alt 1201m) turn right towards "La Croix des Prés", then stay on the main track.3) At La Croix des Près, (a return left to Mont Colombis is possible). Descend to the main track. Turn left at the road. 4) At the D203, go straight on towards Le Fein and take the first track on the left (Chemin Clot Fouron) then opposite (Chemin des Bonnets). Descend the main hairpin path (with a view of the lake). Keep to the right, then turn left twice. After the steep slope at the edge of the field, turn left.5) At Clôt Minet, turn right at the edge of the forest. At clôt de Mare, turn left and join the D3 road. ( /!) Descend to the left towards Chorges. At Club les Horizons du Lac hotel, take a left and then the 1st right. At Villar, turn left onto Le vieux Chemin. Cross the fields, pass under the railway line and take the old road on the left. At Prevalier, turn left towards Chorges. Cross the railway tracks and turn right. At the bottling plant, turn right at the level crossing. 6) At Chorges station, at the roundabout, head towards the town centre. Pass the Brasserie des Alpes and go straight through the town centre. Before the N94, continue left onto the D9 towards Réallon. At the farm, turn right towards Les Augiers (GR signposted). 7) At Les Augiers, take the track on the left. At the Route des Puy (D109), turn right into the hamlet of L'Eglise. At the church, turn left onto the route de Chabrières. Continue up the main hairpin road. At the viewpoint on the bend, turn right up the Chemin de la Clouisse. After the farm (Patou), turn right. Stay on the level on the main path around the knoll. At the crossroads of 4 tracks, continue straight up the gravel path8) At the D9, continue straight ahead on the route des Gourres and then the route du Pomeyret. At the hamlet of Pomeyret, continue on the main road with its hairpin bends. At the DFCI track F8, continue straight ahead on the GR. At the DFCI marker, turn right onto the Joubelle forest road (DFCI F1 forêt Domaniale de Montguillaume). Go as far as the resort of Réallon9) At the resort, head down to the car park and then the road, leaving the ski lifts behind you. After the 1st hairpin bend, leave the main road at Pra Prunier and turn left towards "Les Gourniers". Then descend to the right, keeping to the main track. Continue downhill then turn slightly right to cross the hamlet of Les Mallets.10) Go up on the left towards Les Granges. Continue on the main track towards Les Gourniers. At Les Tommelles, the track gives way to a road, leading to Les Gourniers.

Randonnée ombragée et secrète permettant de découvrir les alentours du village de Bellaffaire. Un sentier ombragé conduit au travers de forêts de pins. Au passage, rendre visite au « rocher-qui-parle », caché derrière le cimetière. Depuis la place de la mairie de Bellaffaire (870 m), prendre la ruelle de droite. Après la dernière maison, suivre la piste descendante. 200 m plus loin, rejoindre la jonction avec l’arrivée de la boucle.  Au Pré du Clot (830 m), partir de préférence sur la gauche en descendant cette piste jusqu’à l’entrée d’un pont surplombant le Riou Clair. Juste avant ce pont, bifurquer à droite dans un sous-bois pour atteindre en peu de temps la D 951, après avoir franchi un gué. Immédiatement sur la droite une portion de piste rejoint la D 301. Redescendre celle-ci sur 200 m. S’engager sur la piste de droite qui rapidement se transforme en sentier. Après la jonction avec un sentier venant de Bréziers, remonter plein nord dans une pinède. Au lieu-dit Les Barres (910 m), prendre la piste de droite à travers champs. Traverser la route et continuer la piste pour rejoindre le ravin de Malecombe puis remonter vers le point de jonction.

A fairly long route, with some tricky sections on wet terrain. Superb panoramic views of the lake and summits Go along the tennis courts and take a right fork on a stony path that rises into the black marl. Continue on this path for 3km, which offers numerous viewpoints. After reaching the intersection with the road, turn left, then quickly left where you will find an unsealed path. Continue for over a kilometre before crossing the road again. Begin the descent on a wide track to the ruins of the old farm of le Villard. Leave the dirt track on the right, just opposite the ruins, and go into the fields alongside a stream, following the yellow markings on the trees. Cross the Glaisolles steam before heading up a path in the black marl to return to the starting point.

With the azure blue of the lake as your guide, hug the water's edge to reach the lakeside beach of Port Saint-Pierre. From the car park on the road leading to the belvedere, take the road on the left which runs into the village. At the water fountain, take the road on the right. Go down the Chemin des Amoureux and then head left downhill to the Pied de Vière wash house. At the bottom, take the path on the right leading towards the beach ("Plage de Port St-Pierre"). At the next intersection, where you come to some narrow wooden steps, go straight ahead (to the left of the wooden table). Carry on downhill and when you come to an intersection in the tracks, turn right to the Port Saint Pierre recreation area. 

This route is accessible to all and offers some beautiful panoramic views of the Pic du Morgon, Dormillouse and Lake Serre-Ponçon. 1) Head down the road towards Les Hyvans. At the hairpin bend, level with the tennis courts, take the path on the right and quickly turn right onto a stony path that rises quickly.2) Continue on this path for 2 km before turning right at the Col Lebraut.3) Descend on this path until you reach the road, then turn right. Continue along this stretch of road back to your starting point.

A dynamic and sporty course, despite its short distance, offering superb panoramas of the lake. From the La Fontaine car park, head back down the departmental road towards Savines-le-Lac for a few dozen metres, then take the path to the left of the cross. Turn left at a picnic area and continue straight ahead through the woods. Turn left when the view of the lake opens up, onto a narrow, steep and winding path. Follow this path until you come to a wide track. Turn left then left again into a very shady valley after a stream. Leave the path and take a path on the right back into the pines. Turn left and then right into the woods. Turn right again when you come back to a wide, steeply sloping path, then veer left and finally right onto a road. Follow the winding road to the departmental road. The gradient is moderate but the climb is still relatively long. Finally, turn right onto the departmental road to return to Le Sauze-du-Lac.

A very accessible hike in a setting that is by turns rural and wooded. 1) Take a path that rises to the right of the road towards Champ du Comte, following the yellow markings. Turn right at the first junction and follow the track. Continue along the track, which levels out at the next junction. After a few hundred metres on the track, take a steeper path on the left towards Bois Seignères. 2) After a fairly steep ascent, turn left onto a flat track that runs alongside a clearing. Turn left at the Arrouet sign where several tracks cross towards Champ du Comte. Pass the Champ du Comte hut and continue along the track. Turn left after 50m onto a small path. Go downhill, then turn left onto a wider path. The path narrows and then runs alongside a stream, which you may have to cross depending on the layout of the fences. 4) Turn left as you return to the road, then turn left onto the road at the entrance to the hamlet of Fein. Take a farm track on the right 50m after the hamlet, then go straight ahead at the intersection and straight ahead again on a small path that joins a track. Cross the street. Join the road and follow it downhill.

Dans un secteur très peu fréquenté des Hautes Terres de Provence, découvrez les belles pentes du Montsérieux. Des crêtes de la Colle jusqu’au Champas, la vue sur le lac de Serre-Ponçon, les Ecrins, le Queyras et le Mercantour est vraiment panoramique. Un coin secret à ne pas divulguer ! Depuis le parking devant l’église de Gigors (875 m), suivre la D 951 en direction de La Motte du Caire jusqu’à la sortie du village. A l’Oratoire (880 m), laisser sur la droite le sentier, (c’est l’endroit où vous finirez votre balade). Continuer la route sur 450 m. Au lieu-dit Les Aires (905 m), laisser la piste VTT n°9 sur votre gauche et continuer la D 951 sur 3.1 km après le col du Sarraut (985 m). A 964 m, prendre à droite la piste forestière en direction du Montsérieux. Laisser 2 pistes à droite et 4 pistes à gauche et 8.5 km après,vous arrivez à un embranchement avec un sentier. A l'altitude 1418 m, continuer la piste en laissant sur la gauche le sentier qui redescend vers Venterol. Nouveau sentier après 500m. Sur la crête de la Colle (1376 m), laisser de nouveau le sentier redescendre à gauche sur Piégut. Continuez la piste sur 1.5 km, en laisser une sur la droite. A 1300 m, laisser la piste et emprunter à droite un joli sentier descendant en crête avec vue sur le lac de Serre-Ponçon.  Continuer la descente par le sentier de droite, petite section raide, ensuite une belle fin.

Le point culminant de cette randonnée est la récompense d'une montée agréable mais raide. Le panorama est époustouflant et vertigineux! La balade se fait en partie sous une forêt de hêtres. Pendant la saison chaude, le randonneur appréciera la majesté des bois tapissés de feuilles et d'herbes ou la limpidité de la fontaine d'eau glacée qui coule près du refuge du Jas. Depuis l'église de Gigors (870 m), suivre à droite la D951 sur 700m jusqu'à un départ de piste à gauche. A la bifurcation Les Aires (905 m), suivre la piste jusqu'au premier lacet. Quelques mètres après la barrière, bifurquez à droite pour commencer la montée à travers bois jusqu'à retrouver la piste. A Gaudissart (1 120 m), prendre à la sortie de l’épingle le sentier à droite qui poursuit son ascension en sous-bois. Arrivé à la Source du Jas (1 301 m), dépasser le refuge et s'engager à droite sur le petit sentier forestier. Monter pour atteindre le bout piste qui se transforme 300 m plus loin en sentier et s'élève jusqu'au point culminant de la randonnée. Au carrefour de la Plane (1 410 m), se diriger vers le sommet pour aller voir la table d'orientation. Revenir au carrefour et suivre le chemin de droite jusqu'à "La Dent de Gigors". Arrivé à celle-ci bifurquer à droite et continuer sur environ 200 m. A l'Ubac de Gigors (1 270 m), deux possibilités, soit continuer par Le Bosquet pour regagner Gigors par un joli sentier en sous-bois, soit bifurquer à gauche et prendre la piste forestière de l'Ubac pour revenir au point 2 et rentrer par l'itinéraire emprunté à l'aller.

Le cheminement en sous-bois sur la majorité du parcours en fait la balade idéale pour les journées chaudes. Elle permet de découvrir les bassins de Turriers et de la haute vallée du Sasse. Depuis les Dorats (1050 m), prendre la ruelle entre les maisons et continuer par une piste en montant. Au réservoir, prendre l’embranchement de gauche. Rapidement, la piste rentre dans les bois et devient bien ombragée. Il faut bien suivre le balisage jaune. Plusieurs embranchements pour l’exploitation forestière partent à droite et à gauche. Au niveau d’un captage d’eau, prendre la piste à gauche (poteau bois), pour atteindre un peu plus haut une piste ONF. Suivre celle-ci sur une centaine de mètres à droite. Quitter la piste et continuer par le sentier qui grimpe en sous-bois. Après une bonne montée, suivre la piste qui se présente sur la droite. Le départ est à plat, puis au premier embranchement, prendre à gauche la piste qui grimpe de nouveau. Arrivée sur la crête du Bois Noir, prendre la piste ONF à droite en franchissant la barrière pour se retrouver en versant sud. Prendre l’embranchement de droite, pour atteindre peu après une barrière ONF. Quitter la piste principale pour prendre à droite une piste forestière descendante assez raide afin de rejoindre une autre piste beaucoup plus large en descendant. Quitter la piste principale sur la gauche en s’engageant sur un sentier dans la hêtraie. Laisser sur la gauche une trace menant au Bois Noir. Après le gué, le sentier sort de la forêt pour s’engager dans une prairie que l’on suit à flanc.  Une fois aux Sausses, continuer en descendant pour rejoindre rapidement un chemin creux entre de belles prairies. La jonction avec le cheminement de la montée se fait après être passé devant une bergerie. Retour par la piste de départ.

Chabournéou unveils a world of mountains and glaciers. This former refuge with its authentic atmosphere provides a fine alternative on the Vieux Chaillol Tour or GR54 footpath. Meals available all day. No picnic room. An authentic refuge in an Alpine setting at the foot of the north face of the Sirac. Easy to access along a path with the evocative name of "the minister's path", the refuge welcomes visitors for the skiing season in spring and for climbing and hiking during the summer. The Clot - Xavier-Blanc refuge, with 100 years rich in history, welcomes you in the shade of colossal trees for a relaxing break. Whether you are on the GR 54 footpath or out for a day's hike, you are sure to be charmed by this refuge, lulled by the murmur of the nearby Séveraisse mountain stream. Access in 15 minutes from Le Rif du Sap.

The Durance Valley hides natural phenomena that are unusual to say the least: the "Demoiselles Coiffées" or "Fairy Chimneys". Take the height from our observation points and enjoy exceptional panoramas! These spectacular geological formations are the result of rain and torrential erosion, and can be recognised by their tall columns topped by a rocky cap. There are two villages in the Durance Valley where you can get close to them by car or on foot. - AT THÉUS: the 65-hectare site has been listed since 1939. The Vallauria torrent basin contains a whole series of capped columns and is a real geomorphological curiosity. There are so many formations here that they are referred to as the "Salle de Bal" (ballroom) Get a bird's eye view of them from our two lookout points! The "Ballroom Terrace", inaugurated in 2018, offers a view of these natural gems accompanied by a picture-postcard backdrop overlooking the Durance Valley. Thanks to its deckchairs, tables, benches and information panels, you'll be able to recharge your batteries in peace and quiet. STARTS FROM THÉUS: a choice of a blue route and a longer red route that takes in the lookouts on the terrace, before descending to the car park. Start: Théus before the village of Théus, in the last bend on the D53A: start sign at the car park, take the forest track that crosses the torrent. 4 km 1h30 +320 m, longer option. - ACCESS BY CAR: > BELVEDÈRES DE THÉUS: after passing through the village of Théus and its winding road (RD53), turn right at the hamlet of Le Poët (D53A) to the first belvedere and its car park. If you continue a little further you can enjoy an exceptional 360° view, at Mont Colombis culminating at 1734 m (accessible by car).

The site of the Three Lakes (which actually includes 4 lakes), is spread over two communes: Rochebrune and Piégut. It is a succession of different lakes in the heart of the Durance Valley, covered with vineyards and orchards. The 3 Lakes site is a fragile natural area classified as Natura 2000 by the European Union. It is home to numerous plants such as the reed "La Petite Massette", fish, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and more discreet mammals such as the beaver. For pleasure and calm, the site is a restful setting, ideal for refreshing yourself, taking a stroll and rejuvenating. You are bound to find something to suit you on one of the beaches. In fine weather, enjoy the supervised swimming and shaded picnic areas. For fishing enthusiasts, the site will make you happy! Fishing is regulated on the 3 lakes site. Fish are released regularly. Respect biodiversity: - do not enter the reed beds, - do not fish for frogs, - do not pick plants, - keep your rubbish with you, - keep your pet on a lead...

Natural phenomena sometimes leave us with lovely surprises! In Remollon, you can admire two astonishing petrifying waterfalls from their observation deck. A refreshing walk. Parking at the start. These spectacular formations are formed by limestone deposits traversed by underground watercourses. In the past, the original spring located in a deep cave to the west of the village fed a grain mill below, and it was its discharge into the Durance that formed the petrifying waterfall over time. You can observe the first waterfall thanks to an access platform. - To observe the 1st waterfall: park at the access car park along the RD900 then walk there in 2 min, take the marked path on the right "La Cascade" to the wooden observation footbridge. - To observe the 2nd waterfall: 10 min walk along the chemin de l'Hermitane towards the Plaine and its orchards, then right along the chemin de la Plaine. Locate the mill on the edge of the cliff; the waterfall is below the building.

Fours (kilns) refer to holes in which gypsum was cooked to make plaster..At the end of a path of the cross, the chapel was built on the site of the appearance of the Virgin Mary to the shepherdess Benoîte Rencurel in 1664.

The belvedere of Sauze-du-Lac offers a unique view over the dam and over a vast expanse of the lake. At a glance, you take in the point at which the Durance valley and river to the north meet the Ubaye valley and river to the east.It is also the deepest point of the lake, down a depth of 90 metres. Downstream from the dam, you can see the Rousset overflow lake, which allows regulation of the peak flows from the EDF plant and distributes the water between the natural courses of the Durance and the EDF canal, which carries the water towards the plant in La Saulce.

Pastoralism is a livestock rearing technique extensively practised by farmers here. They exploit the local natural resources to feed their flocks, thereby shaping the landscapes. It is estimated that this practice started approximately 10,000 years ago. Sheep could be domesticated because they have a natural tendency to herd together. An annual migration called transhumance, which optimises the animals' food intake, involves moving the livestock to high-altitude grazing grounds in the summer when the vegetation is dry lower down in the valley. Grazing helps to keep habitats open, favouring certain animal species, reducing fire risk and maintaining the landscapes, making them a paradise for hikers.

This very handsome bright green lizard is the biggest in our territory, measuring 30 cm in length. It can be spotted from April to September. The rest of the time, it hibernates underground. It hunts in areas with dense vegetation and feeds primarily on insects and invertebrates. It exhibits sexual dimorphism, that is to say, during the breeding season only, the males have bright blue colouring on the throat and sides of the head. Mating takes place around May. The males engage in ferocious fights in which they occasionally lose their tails. That's not a problem for the Western green lizard as its tail grows back naturally.

The refuge is located on one of the Tour du Vieux Chaillol paths. A large number of hikes leave from the refuge: Cascade de la Pisse (20 mins), Col de la Vénasque (3h), Col de Côte Longue (4h), the summit of Le Vieux Chaillol (3163 m), but also the unspoilt valleys of the Muande and Mal Cros! A little paradise only a 1 hr 30 min walk away! Elevation 345 metres.

Mountain refuge located at the source of the Bléone river, at an altitude of 2,050 m in the village of Prads-Haute-Bléone. Accessible only on foot (3h walk). Numerous hikes available, including the Tête de l'Estrop at 2961m of altitude, as well as sport fishing, bouldering and slacklining. Accommodation and catering available by prior arrangement.
