This walk through Dieppe includes a visit to the Pollet District, one of Dieppe’s most authentic areas, traditionally known as the “fishing district”. The trail then continues along the cliff, following the coastal trail to the charming beach in Puys. This walking trail supplements the tour of Dieppe offered by Trail No. 1. The route is however is a little more difficult.

This very easy urban trail is a great way to discover some of the most emblematic sites and monuments in Dieppe’s old town: the marina, Saint-Jacques Church, the jetty, the seafront, the town centre and the imposing château perched atop the cliff. This walking tour is a pleasant way to spend one hour learning about the history of Dieppe, from fortified town to seaside resort. This first route within Dieppe can be supplemented by Trail No. 2.

A special place, assembling a collection of objects associated with the famous French composer in the house where he was born: Claude Debussy's birthplace is located in the historic quarter of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. She contacted me and suggested enthusiastically: "You absolutely must come with me to see something fantastic in a small village near Dieppe. The village has restored a cistern that collects rainwater with a magnificent fountain on the main square of the town hall No sooner said than done! Here we are on the roads of the Pays de Caux, in the middle of the fields and the summer drought to go and see this famous cistern. "You see this lack of water! Everything is yellow and burned!" exclaims Sylvie. Arrived at the Grandes Ventes, direction the Place de la Mairie. "Oh there you saw the reception!" laughs Sylvie. Indeed, in the middle of the square, in front of the fountain, there is a colorful installation made of deckchairs and pallets transformed into benches and low tables. The cistern would be so large that it would take up the entire square of the town hall! La Val Ygot at the heart of the Eawy Forest is home tot the V1 bomber launching site with its shelters, workshops and launching pad. Created in 1943, it is now a memorial and reminded of World War II.

Explore the ruins of this medieval castle built in the 11th and 15th centuries by Gauthier Giffard, a companion of William the Conqueror. If there are only ruins left today, the castle used to include many buildings, and according to archives from the 15th century the courtyard used to be divided into 2 parts, the upper courtyard and the lower courtyard, separated by a wall. Within the courtyard, there used to be a house, a building where the servants would eat, numerous bedrooms especially above the entrance towards Sainte-Foy, a chapel, a gallery, jails, garderobes (in the Middle Ages, the garderobe was the room with the hole, aka a privy.), a pantry (where bread was stored and distributed), the curtain wall was topped with a wall walk where it was possible to patrol... It has recently undergone technical consolidation works, has seen the creation of an access path, been cleared of trees and dotted with an information panel which gives an idea of its appearance in the 15th century.
