This short tour will allow you to discover the architectural wealth of the city and the banks of the Garonne, along the streets and alleys, but also from above, from the covered way.

Port-Sainte-Marie is a small, long town between the river and the foot of a steep hillside. It has old half-timbered and corbelled houses around the church of Notre-Dame, which dates from the 16th century, and the 700-year-old church of the Templars. Lady Garonne is, as the seasons go by, sometimes clear and nonchalant, sometimes muddy and worrying. Thanks to the richness of its alluvial deposits, vegetables and fruits grow generously. The gradual rise above the steeples and roofs of the town opens up the landscape to the Garonne plain where the crops are spread out in a checkerboard pattern. Port-Sainte-Marie is at the crossroads of 3 Roman roads: Ténarèze, Clermontagne and Toulousaine. Formerly a place of pilgrimage for the Gabariers de la Garonne, today it is the pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela who pass through these places.

When mountain biking rhymes with ecomobility. The clay and stone paths of the Pays de Serres are waiting for you. From the Port-Sainte-Marie TER station, set off to discover the VTT-FFC "Entre Lot et Garonne" site, in the heart of the Confluent and Coteaux de Prayssas communities. Hillsides and plateaus alternate, offering a variety of terrain, remarkable panoramas and a touch of technicality. Keep an eye on your GPS. An unmarked connecting route, alternating paths and minor roads, will take you to the base's circuit n°2. From kilometer 10, follow the signs for circuit n°2. At kilometer 37, leave the signs and head for Clermont-Dessous. Enjoy the panoramic view over the Garonne valley. On very dry ground, the route is also suitable for gravel.

This loop is the most physical of the three proposed in the Confluent. The main climbs are at Bazens (approx. 7% over 1500 m), St-Salvy (5% over 1800 m), Grand Tour (7% over 900 m) and St-Médard (6% over 1800 m). From the promontory village of Clermont-Dessous, dominated by its fortified church and castle, the route descends into the Masse valley. On the hill opposite, Bazens was the episcopal court of the bishops of Agen in the 16th century.

This circuit offers different points of view on the promontory village of Clermont-Dessous, from the top to the bottom, but also from the back. The first view is of the plain of the Garonne, the hills of Gascony and sometimes the Pyrenean peaks.

"Clermont", from "clarus mons", means the clear mountain and "Dessous" refers to its location downstream from the Garonne. Standing on a rocky spur, this small village with its majestic architecture stands out in the distance between sky and earth. The tour starts in apple orchards, before climbing the hill, offering vast panoramas over the Garonne valley and the hillsides of the Pays de Serres. After a long descent into the valley of the Masse, a small road leads gradually up to the panoramic site of Bazens. The church and the castle were a possession of the bishops of Agen since the Middle Ages. Bazens was the privileged residence of the della Rovere family at the beginning of the 16th century and later of Bishop Matteo Bandello.

This walk will take you down into the valley of the Courant stream before going up to the plateau to admire the many viewpoints over the Lot Valley and the Garonne Valley.

Starting at the plain of the Garonne, this circuit climbs up the rocky escarpements which overlook the river. You will enjoy an uninterrupted view of the Gascogne hills to the Pays de Serres hillsides, or the tree-covered slopes of the Landes forest which overlooks the Lot Valley.

From the church of Saint-Médard to that of Puymasson, this circuit offers, through orchards and woods on one side with beautiful views of the Garonne and its valley, a discovery of the hills of the Pays de Serres.

Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the church is dedicated to Saint Mary, patron saint of sailors and boatmen. The heart of the medieval village, it has not ceased to be transformed over the centuries, with the addition of the high bell tower in the XVIIth century and the construction of the marble altarpiece in the XVIIth century, then in the XIXth century the heightening of the church by 8 meters with the creation of the vault and the high stained glass windows. Monumental neo-Gothic frescoes give the interior of the building a solemn aspect.

The Jacobins church is the subject of many mysteries: a monastery founded in the 14th century and inhabited by Dominican friars, it was devastated during the Wars of Religion and completed during the Revolution. Take a look at the Gothic church and its remarkable vaults, now undergoing restoration: legend has it that underneath lies the tomb of Matteo Bandello, the original writer of Romeo and Juliet, as well as his formidable treasure... Although many have excavated the site, no one has ever laid hands on it.

Saint-Laurent is a medieval village on the banks of the Garonne, whose development was largely due to the establishment of shipwrights, boatmasters and tailors working the hemp produced in the valley during the 18th and 19th centuries. Approach the Saint-Laurent esplanade and take shelter under its tall trees, seated on a bench or picnic tablecloth. Take time to observe the river below and reconnect with nature in a moment of disconnection. During the 13th century, the Templars from the Commandery of Argentens (near Nérac) settled in Port-Sainte-Marie and built a house and a church following a donation of land by an inhabitant of the town who joined the Order. A priory with a house (the prior's tower), various conventual buildings, and a house for the Commander developed throughout the 13th century. And what was only meant to be a chapel became a church of imposing dimensions, with its high bell tower and large openings.
