The Sources de Jérusalem reward a gradual ascent with a magnificent waterfall. An accessible hike despite its relative length. Start from the Pra Paisset car park. Follow the forest track at the end of the car park. Continue straight ahead past the Gautier sheepfold, then cross the stream. Go straight on at the via ferrata sign after 1.8km. Take the path at the end on the right level with the flat ground of Pré Lapierre. Here the slope starts to steepen. Turn left at the Cime de Lapierre sign after 2.6 km. Continue straight ahead at the Rocher Long sign, staying on a wide, fairly steep path shaded by larch trees. Turn right 150m after the sign fr Jerusalem. The springs are 200m further on. 1.8km. After reaching the springs, take a path down to the right. Cross the stream at the foot of the waterfall. A second ford is required shortly afterwards, before the path stretches along the mountainside. A series of flower-filled meadows, undergrowth and river crossings punctuate the route. Continue straight ahead on the small path through a cut littered with stumps. You should see the resort opposite and then to the right. Take another track after a short descent, then turn left. Descend the track to the valley hut. Then take a grassy path to the right. The trail markings are now accompanied by yellow PR markings. You will need to take a short passage through scree a few hundred metres further on. After a long descent along this path, return to a wider track where you will have to turn right. A heavily wooded section leads to the bridge over the Eyssalette stream. Cross the bridge and follow the path. Follow this wide, well-maintained path to a new stream, which you will need cross to reach the first home. Take a right here to join a road. Turn right and follow the road for around 200m to take a steep track on your right. Pass a new home and join the main road. Then climb back up to the Pra Paisset car park, following the road for the last few kilometres.

Admire the many icefalls nestled in the heart of the Eyssalette valley, At the hairpin bend leave the road to continue straight ahead on the track, passing the barrier. Stay on the track until you reach an old sheepfold. From there, the return journey takes the same route.

Lake Sainte-Marguerite is well worth the effort, offering a peaceful setting ideal for a picnic or a refreshing break. It ‘s a pleasant destination to head for with children. Follow the forest track that starts at the end of the Pra Paisset car park at the bend. After a few hundred meters, continue straight past the Gautier sheepfold. Keep going straight at the intersection with the Via Ferrata sign, 1.8 km from the starting point. Then turn left at Pré Lapierre on wide, flat terrain. The path then rises on a steep slope. Veer right 250m higher. Continue straight on a wide path through the larches at the next intersection. Turn left at the Rocher Long sign, then follow a rocky steep path. It disappears when entering an alpine meadow after an ascent of a few hundred meters. It is extended by a small path that crosses the high-altitude meadows near the lake cabins. Then cross the stream and continue on a small path in the pastures. Keep climbing, then turn right at the intersection. Continue as far as the lake. Once you reach the lake, you can walk around it. Then retrace your steps to the previous intersection, take the wooden bridge over the river, continue through the pastures, cross a stream, and follow the path that ascends slightly (the stream is likely to disappear in summer). The route becomes more wooded between clearings and undergrowth, then enters a larch forest. Keep straight when crossing the ruins of old cabins. Turn right and follow the sign indicating the return to the resort at the next intersection. At the next intersection in a clearing, follow the direction “Station par le chalet des Fontaines “ "resort via the Fontaines chalet." Continue straight at the next intersection after a descent. Once you reach the skiing area, take the wide path that passes under the chairlift. Then follow a small path that goes behind the brasserie restaurant and in front of the Pousterle chairlift, then join the gravel access road and follow it to Les Orres 1800. Then take a right towards Champ Lacas and reach the centre of the resort. Pass under the tunnel towards the shops and join the parking lot on the other side. Take the Bois Méans road at the bend at the exit to the car park. Descend to the hairpin bend below and take a path to the left 20m further on, crossing the balustrade. The path drops down to the Pra Paisset car park.

Along this circuit you will discover how the river Verdon is born and its importance for Val d'Allos and Provence. From the car park of Ubac at Val d'Allos - La Foux, follow the dipper, the small bird who will accompany you for a playful discovery of Verdon's sources.

Head up the Grand Vallon stream to the Col des Orres in an enchanting setting that feels like the end of the world. Cross the bridge over the river. The route is signposted in yellow. At the le Pré l'Ansouré sign, turn left towards Col des Orres. Pass in front of the Rama hut then continue, overhanging the river. Then take a small path to the left by the Grand Vallon hut and cross the torrent. Follow the river for about 100 m then cross the torrent again on a wooden footbridge 50 m after the hut. Then follow the path on the right bank then cross the stream again below a tiered waterfall in the mountain pastures. A narrow path, marked with yellow markings and cairns, leads to the summit. Keep your eyes peeled for a left turn in a grassy area.

A tough climb to one of the highest peaks in the Parpaillon massif. The view over the Ubaye valley and the Mercantour massif from the summit of Aupillon is well worth the detour! Take the track that crosses the river, then turn right 500m after the start at the signpost for the Col de l'Aupillon (yellow markings). Turn left after 150m and follow the stream. Keep to the right of the riverbank level with a small bridge, then continue to the source of the river. Continue straight on into mountain pastures. Stay at the bottom of the valley until you find a path marked with yellow markings and cairns. The route then ascends steeply, crossing a mountain pasture where a sign points to l’Aupillon. The path twists up the wall on the right and then crosses some scree. The final section up to the pass requires care as it is more vertiginous. Once at the pass, bear left to reach the summit. Once again, there are a few more technical passages that require extra care.

Accessible to the Col d'Allos, the summit of Rochegrand, Belbédère of high Verdon, enables the discovery of a beautiful view. At the top of Rochegrand, a real panoramic view in 360 ° big summits dominating Valley of Allos waits for you : Cimet, Mount Pelat, Autapie, Grande Séolane … no one is lacking.

This small, undulating loop through a larch grove follows the old paths used to ascend to the mountain pastures in summer. From the Les Orres 1650 tourist office, go to the Pitchounets children's club, then follow the road uphill to a small car park. The start can be found at the bottom of the hill. After a short passage through undergrowth, head up the 4x4 track for a few metres until you turn left onto an old flat channel. At the end of this channel, begin the climb and pass in front of the Cabane du nain rouge. Keep ascending into the woods. Here you can enjoy a beautiful unobstructed view of the village. Beware; this is quite a vertiginous route: a handrail accompanies you up the few steps you have to climb. A bit further on, take several switchbacks as you descend into the forest. A final ascent takes you to a flat single track that leads back to the start of the route. From this point, the return journey takes the same route as the outward journey.

This long and highly technical route, for experienced trail runners only, takes in mountain pastures and ridges. From the Les Orres 1650 snow line, ascend and follow the track that veers to the left shortly after pylon no. 2 of the Prélongis chairlift. Follow it as far as Les Orres 1800 and take a shady single track that will take you to the Lac de Sainte-Marguerite path, passing the ruins of the Eyssalette hut. You will gradually emerge into the mountain pastures crossed by streams to reach Sainte-Marguerite Lake. Now things start to get serious! Turn left onto a rocky path that twists and turns for almost 2 kilometres and leads to the Col de l'Aupillon. Climb right to the Pic de l'Aupillon at 2916m and admire the view of the Alpes de Haute-Provence. Return to the path and take a single track along the ridge to reach the top of the Vallon de Rémolon. Reach the top of the Pousterle chairlift via the hiking trails (11). The descent is by chairlift or on foot (several possible routes: consult the map at the top of the chairlift).

These springs emerge between two layers of limestone rock, after which the water is then partially channelled to supply the ski resort of Les Orres . While the name of these springs may seem out of place in the heart of this mountain range, it comes from the Order of St John of Jerusalem, which held land in the valley and in particular the Muretier valley located just above the springs..

The larch, which can be seen throughout the walk, is a very special tree. Although a member of the Pinaceae family, like Cedar, Fir, Pine and Spruce, it is the only conifer whose needles change colour and fall off in autumn. A mountain tree par excellence, it grows at altitudes of between 1200 and 2400m, where it is generally accompanied only by the Swiss Pine. Its light green, airy foliage lets the sun's rays through and its undergrowth is often rich in geraniums or orchids. It has a straight, smooth trunk that splits into plates as it gets higher. Its bark tends towards grey and reddish brown and its branches lean downwards like those of the Epicea. Its needles are grouped in clusters of 20 or 40 on short branches and measure about 3cm.

This centuries-old sheepfold was first restored in 1755 during Jean Francois Gautier's term as mayor of Les Orres, after whom it was named, and once again in 2009 after withstanding more than two centuries of weathering. The floor of the sheepfold was laid using the traditional "standing timber" technique. Small, debarked trunks 12 cm high are held vertically by crushed gravel between the trunks.
