At "Plan des Sagnières", take the road on the right, then continue on the right towards "Thuriers". At route D1, turn left towards Saint-Martin lès Seyne. At Rougon, leave the Ladre road and turn right onto the Col de Saint-Martin road.7) Above the Col Saint-Martin, continue straight ahead on the track towards Chabanon crête des mélèzes then after 150m turn right. (/! The path then descends relatively steeply, with ruts). 8) At route D1, go left then right into the marl. At the junction, continue along the main road opposite. At the bend continue right on the grassy side track (/! path hard to see). At the D210 turn right. Go through Chaumenc. 9) After the bridge, take the small road on the right towards Champ d'Arène. After the post box, turn left onto chemin du Touron. Turn left at the E6 DFCI track, In Bréziers, turn right onto Rue du Clos de Barou. Continue straight ahead (D310), then turn right at the hairpin to join the D951. Turn right down to the Durance river.10) Before the canal bridge, take the road on the right towards Gréoliers. In Greoliers, go straight on at the fountain. Turn left at the D900c /! Cross the Durance and join the rond-point du barrage,

The Col Bas lakes are classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, a fragile site rich in biodiversity. Do not stray from the marked trail (biotope protection order no. 86-3106). This is a rare phenomenon in Haute-Provence: lakes have been invaded by plants that have accumulated and partially filled them, creating a unique wetland environment. This prevents the complete decomposition of organic matter, giving the lake its blackish color and allowing peat to form in layers at a rate of 3 to 4 cm per century. Each layer preserves the remains of living things that have disappeared over the centuries and allows us to reconstruct the environments of different eras. From Seyne-les-Alpes (9 km), take the D207 towards Montclar, then the D607 to Saint-Pons, where you follow the Col-Bas forest trail (open from May to October) to its end (with a designated parking lot). Alternative: Access via chairlifts, Montclar Station. The Brèche chairlift requires an intermediate stop; you can return via the Lacs stop.

From Seyne-les-Alpes (6 km), take the D207 towards Montclar, then the D607 to Saint-Pons, where you follow the Col-Bas forest track (open from May to October). Car park at the crossroads of the road and tracks near the Maison Forestière. Maison Forestière de Bellevue - At the crossroads with the Maison Forestière, take the path that climbs up from the top of the crossroads on the right-hand side of the road and into the forest. It alternates between several large hairpins and gradually climbs between the larches to reach a crossroads. La Chaumasse - Follow the GR®6 and GR®69 uphill towards the Col de Bernardez. The path gradually leaves the forest and crosses some scree. Col de Bernardez - At the col, head directly left along the ridge towards the peak, following a path that is sometimes lightly marked and uneven to reach the summit. Switch to the other side and descend towards the Pic de Savernes, which you must skirt to the left. Reach the Col Bas without going over the summit. Col Bas - At Col Bas, take the track on the left down towards Seyne les Alpes. After 1 km, reach a bend in the track. Take the path on the outside of the bend in the track. It becomes narrow and descends in a series of small, sometimes slippery, banked bends. Reach point 2 and then descend along the GR® to the start car park.

To access the Forest House of Bellevue from Seyne-les-Alpes (9 km), take the D207 towards Montclar, then the D607 to Saint-Pons, where you will follow the forest track of Col-Bas (open from May to October). There is a car park available at the intersection of the road and tracks near the house.

Crossing the pastoral mountain of Clo Bas offers a completely different landscape, with exceptional plant and animal diversity. The ascent to the summit is done through an old military track that follows the mountainside.

This sporty route winds its way along a magnificent balcony path at the bottom of the wild Boscodon valley, under the eye of Pouzenc from its eyrie of 2898m.Due to major forestry work in the Grande Cabane area, this route will be inaccessible from 25 July 2023. From the bridge at the grande cabane, head uphill through the barrier where you will immediately encounter a crossroads. Turn right to pass under the grande cabane. Stay on the slope uphill. Veer right as you climb the path. After a steep climb under the larch trees, turn left at the crossroads onto the balcony path. Some passages are vertiginous and require extra care. When you reach a shepherd’s hut (La Pérouyère hut), pass it and continue along the balcony path. At the junction, continue on the path for several kilometres until you return to a track. Continue to the right as far as Clos Besson. Before the barrier take a left fork on a path towards the forest. Cross a footbridge and then 2 streams. When you reach a clearing, take a right fork downhill as you come to a track. Continue left, past the chapel and then Lauzerot Lake. On the track, turn right until you reach the starting point.

At the foot of the imposing Roche Close, this route allows you to discover one of the main alpine pastures of Seyne Country: La Grand Montagne, along with its iconic cabin. It is a grazing area for cattle and horses. "Starting from the car park along the La Blanche ravine, after the wooden bridge at the exit of the Maure hamlet, the itinerary goes up either along the La Blanche torrent or via a forest track through a larch forest, leading to the Cabane des Mulets. The return can be made via the track. A possible variation is to continue on a trail to the alpine pastures of Grande Montagne and descend through the south slope of Tourtourel, creating a loop of 6km that lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes, with an elevation gain of 500m.

After passing the cabin, head along the right-hand track. Go through the mesh fencing, via the opening provided. From here, immediately join the path leading downhill to the right. Go through the fencing again to the right of the chapel of Le Lauzerot, and then follow the path on the left. Skirt around the lake and then take the path on the left. On the forest track, turn right. This brings you back to the parking area.

In summer, chamois can be seen grazing in the cool of the day. Around the refuge of Les Bans, the marmot observes visitors as much as they observe it! Its main strategy in the face of predators (golden eagle, fox, etc.) is to seek refuge in its burrow. It lives in a family, made up of a pair of dominant adults and subordinates from successive litters. Grooming, games and fights ensure group cohesion and respect for hierarchy. Everyone helps to mark out the territory by depositing faeces or urine at the borders and rubbing their cheeks against the rocks to leave their scent. The marmot is a wild, herbivorous animal. Feeding it causes it to adopt behaviours that run counter to the instinctive reactions that usually protect it.

Lake Sainte Marguerite lake lies in the high Eysalette valley, surrounded by peaks that almost form an amphitheatre, with the Pic Silhourais and the Alpe de Verdun mountain rising above them. This exceptional setting is complemented by the rich fauna of the lake, which promises a great catch for anglers, particularly the Brown trout, which can also be found in the Eysalettes torrent, which rises in the lake.
