Magnificent hike to a characteristic La Clusaz summit: La Porte des Aravis. Climb up to this easily recognizable pass between two cliffs to enjoy one of the finest panoramas in Haute-Savoie. On this challenging itinerary, you'll cross one of the many combe des Aravis: La Creuse. Surrounded by the cliffs of Aiguille Verte and Parossaz, the climb is quite physical. Between the many cairns that line the route, take advantage of your breaks to contemplate the view of the relief facing the slope you're climbing. At the end of a final scree slope, you'll reach the day's objective: the Porte des Aravis. Here, you can experience the thrill of following the ridge line of the Aravis Range while admiring this unique panorama. This geological curiosity is the subject of a legend associated with Gargantua, a character from the novel of the same name written by Rabelais. During his crossing of the Alps, the giant is said to have stumbled and kicked the mountain, detaching a "piece" of the Aravis. This huge boulder was then catapulted into the Beaufortain massif, where the famous Pierra Menta now stands.

After the Merle road, the route climbs quickly transforming into a forest path and then a single-track to the Crèvetout farm.

A very varied course which will lead you from the Crêt du Merle to the Danay (with a loop) while passing by the lake of Confins with an alternation of descents and climbs, forests and fields, with a sight on the Aravis mountains.

This trail is the longest in La Clusaz, with a vertical drop from 1,864 m to 1,090 m. Length 2.7km / Vertical rise 360m / Difficulty blue Opened in 2007 and completely reworked in 2022, this run is now more accessible for even more fun! You can also join the Grenêche piste for the longest downhill run in La Clusaz, on an affordable and pleasant route. This run is specially designed for all levels of skier.

Despite a small difficulty at the start of the course, this cross-country route is intended for beginners to occasional mountain bikers. With beautiful views of the resort and the Aravis mountains, it takes you through forests and meadows to Lac des Confins. Distance: 11.8km Ascent: 147m Negative ascent: 556m Duration: 2h15 If the lifts are closed, you can reach the Crêt du Merle from the village by mountain bike via the Crêt du Merle Panoramic Trail (n°50).

The trail begins in the pastures, continues through the forest and then into the alpine meadows. Access to the belvedere offers views of the Mont Blanc range and the Col des Aravis.

The La Grenêche speedway, 2,700 m long and with a 400 m vertical drop, offers even more thrills for the public. Length 2.7km / Ascent 420m / Difficulty blue The first trail to be developed by La Clusaz, this classic single track through undergrowth and alpine meadows is packed with changes in profile. There are no fewer than 19 contoured bends and several steps to negotiate, starting from the top of the Crêt du Merle chairlift.

The track exploits and plays to the maximum with the natural movements of the ground and alternates between technical portions with slope and relaunch and pedalling portions. It consists exclusively of single-tracks, with alternating leaning, hairpin, fast and flat turns. The trail passes through a variety of forests and meadows, with numerous compressions, slope breaks, bumps and roots. Tested by several champions, it is set to become the new benchmark track at La Clusaz! Pro rider Kilian Bron: "I haven't enjoyed it like this for a long time. The INTERSPORT store, located in the heart of the village of La Clusaz, specializes in the rental and sale of skis and snowboards. Intersport Crêt du Merle consists of two stores: one dedicated to RENTALS, located opposite the Crêt du Merle chairlift, and another focused on SALES, situated at Place de la Poste. Styled like a traditional mountain chalet, the rental store is the closest to the ski slopes. Our sales area offers a wide range of mountain gear at Intersport prices. Ideally located in the heart of the village, 250 m from the Bossonnet telemix, you'll be able to take advantage of the ski area with ease. One floor for rentals + one floor for sales = 2 universes for your equipment. Possibility of testing skis before purchasing them. The "Sainte Foy Church of La Clusaz was built in 1821 according to Camille Ruphy's plans, architect of Annecy. There has been a church in La Clusaz since 1285. In 1974, the church was extensively rebuilt as it was in a state of disrepair. The bulb bell tower was built between 1751 and 1762. This characteristic is no doubt the alpine expression of baroque art, which was at this time, to be seen on various monuments in Europe.

Accessible from Manigod (Col de la Croix-Fry car park), La Clusaz (Beauregard gondola) and Thônes (hiking). You can discover very beautiful and old alpine chalets, views of the Aravis, Mont Blanc, Étale, Charvin, Sulens, Les Glières and La Tournette!

A chapel which is situated at the Col des Aravis and is dedicated to Saint Anne, patron saint of travellers. Originally built in 1650, it was rebuilt around 1765 by the priest from La Giettaz. Even though it is officially located in La Clusaz, the chapel is maintained by both parishes.

Mountain pass (alt: 1498m) – means of passage between Savoie and Haute Savoie. Magnificent views over Mont-Blanc. Alpine meadows, hiking trails, restaurants…

La Clusaz has several chapels round the village. Fernuy chapel, built in 1738, is located at the Fernuy ; Ste Anne chapel, built in 1650, is located at the Col des Aravis ; Parc chapel, built in 1631, is located at the entrance to the village ; The Var chapel, built in 1676, is located at the Var ; Gotty chapel, built in 1691, is located at the Gotty ; the Confins chapel, built in 1834, is located at Les Confins.

Between the "Col des Aravis" and the "Chalet du Curé", you will find an orientation table to know everything about the surrounding mountains.

The Virgin of Le Châtelard can be reached by an easy, short walk (1 hr – 3.2 km, 700m difference in altitude) from the Col des Aravis. The ramble offer lovely views over the Arondine valley, Aravis and Mont-Blanc mountains. Erected during the summer of 1936, the statue of the Virgin of Le Chatelard was solemnly blessed on 4th October 1936 by Abbé MERCIER who recounted its history : "On 14th July 1935, around 4 pm, a thunderbolt from the sky struck the chalet of Le Chatalard, which belonged to François PORRET from Le Biollay. His wife Marie Augustine PORRET from Les Mortines was on the porch, reciting her rosary with her two daughters. The lightning struck the roof, just above her, passing through her body and tearing her clothes, burning her stomach and a leg, and shattering her wooden clog, leaving her barely alive. The lightning then entered the barn, splitting the flooring and killing 3 cows in the cowshed. Marie Augustine was left without hearing but she can thank the Virgin Mary for not being killed outright. In recognition of this, her family erected a statue of the Virgin”. The Oratoire des Clapières is the only wayside cross to have escaped the destruction of the Revolution : it is the oldest in Val d’Arly. Situated on the Route des Chalets, its name comes from “clapier” meaning pile of stone.

The Vierge des Alpages is a statue that was built by alpine farmers in 1956, situated at an altitude of 1800 m. She is believed to protect farmers, their animals and the whole village. Possible to hike via the Route du Plan to reach the statue. Standing on the Rocher des Mans, at an altitude of 1800m, below the Pointe des Verres (2616m), the statue was placed by alpine farmers during the summer of 1956. It took 20+ men to heave the three sections of the statue into place, on its pedestal, first of all using a winch and then with two horses. It was particularly tricky because the largest piece of statue weighed no less than 500 kg. It was damaged by the avalanche of 1962-63 which swept the top part of the statue down to the base of the cliff. The missing part was replaced using a helicopter. The views from the statue of the Virgin are magnificent. In the foreground you will see the mountains of Croisse-Baulet, Ramadieu, Christomet and Le Torraz. Behind that, from left to right, the Aiguilles de Warens, Mont d'Arbois, Mont Joly, Mont de Vorès and Mont Bisanne. In the distance are the Mont-Blanc Beaufortain mountains.
