Cycle from Soultz-les-Bains to Obernai, passing through the sauerkraut villages of the Bruche canal to the vineyards of Rosheim and Molsheim, then on to the Alsace plain and its cabbage fields. Born in Soultz-les-Bains, Joël Vallon presents his works in various towns in the Molsheim-Mutzig region: The bust of General De Gaulle The elephant The rooster The bull He uses rebar to create monumental sculptures and is trying to develop the use of corten: a steel composed of copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus.

This ride will take you across the so-called “vineyards of Strasbourg” on a discovery tour of charming wine-growing villages with flower-decked half-timbered houses. Along the way, the vineyards will gradually give way to the forests of the foothills of the Vosges Mountains. Here you will find waterfalls and mediaeval castles lying in ruins. Back on the Alsace Wine Route, don’t forget to sample the locally sourced produce crafted by the local artisans: cheese, honey, wine, eau-de-vie, chocolate, etc.

The Jesuits have been present in Molsheim over two centuries. In the 17th century, they erected seven "Fussfall" stations on the pilgrimage route between Molsheim and Maria Altbronn chapel near Ergersheim. The pilgrimages was already developed in Maria Altbronn and the Dompeter of Avolsheim. The Fussfall is a representation of Christs' Passion on a rectangular stone placed on an octagonal column. They invite the pilgrim to kneel down to pray. The first two monuments have disappeared and therefore could no longer indicate the original beginning of the road. Five are originals and the sixth is dated from 1856 standing in front of the Grotto of Lourdes near the Dompeter.

At the base, the Molsheim is a 5 km race through the historic center of Molsheim to support breast cancer research. It’s also a walk or a virtual race. It’s held every year on the first Friday in October. And why not do this race by bike all year long? This circuit resumes part of the course

To get an idea of the route, a visit to the small garden train (1:20 scale network) inspired by the old Molsheim-Saverne railroad and set up on a 30m x 8m surface in the courtyard of the Molsheim hospital is a must. The almost straight, well-shaded greenway, which initially leads from Molsheim to Marlenheim, the northern gateway to the Alsace wine route, is bordered on both sides by vineyard slopes. Beyond the peaceful wine-growing town, the route follows the Kronthal gorge towards Romanswiller. Its sheer cliffs, from which stone was quarried for the construction of Strasbourg cathedral, are now popular with rock-climbers. As you emerge from the gorge, you come to the charming little town of Wasselonne, which still retains important elements of the old castle dominated by the square tower. The route ends at the foot of the old Romanswiller railway station. 34 km of the 48 km of track were laid in 1862. In 1877, Molsheim was connected to Saverne, and a double track was built in 1932. One after the other, the decision was taken to close the line to passenger traffic in 1969, then to freight traffic in 1988.

This little route will help you understand the quite rich religious heritage spread around Molsheim, former Episcopal city and capital of the Counter-Reform. Every religious community settled in the surroundings: the Jesuit and the Carthusian orders in Molsheim, the Benedictine order in Altorf and the Trappist order in Ergersheim. Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

The milestones called "Oath of Koufra". retraces the path taken by the 2nd Armoured Division (La Voie de la 2e DB), during the Liberation of France in 1944.

In the Jesuit Square stand two bronze statues. One of them is Ettore Bugatti (1881-1947), made in 2000 to celebrate the Centennial of the man's arrival in Molsheim and Dorlisheim. He was a designer of innovative motorcars, not only mechanically speaking but also aesthetically. Between 1909 and 1939, Bugatti created around 80 different kinds of cars and filed no less than 1200 design patents for land, sea and air vehicles. The second statue is a copy of the legendary "Type 35" Grand Prix, built in 2009 by François Chevalier. The original car, with its simple yet elegant and efficient body shape, rolled off the assembly line in 1924.

The outdoor playground spreads out on 17 ares divided in three area for each category of age. More than 100 different activities for 200 children, including 28 activities accessible to disabled children and 20 to children with visual or hearing deficiency. Historical background The construction of the church was given the green light by Archduke Leopold of Austria on December, 15th 1614. Project management was entrusted to Christophe Wambser. Jean Isfording, a Jesuit in charge of the College of Molsheim, served as foreman. The first stone was laid in February 1615 and the building was finished two years and nine months later. The building According to the historian Hunckler, this Gothic style church is one of the most impressive and magnificent of the country. The inner sanctum Next to the Cathedral of Strasbourg, the Jesuit Church of Molsheim is the second largest church in Alsace, with its 61,5 x 21,5 m (201.8' x 70.5') interior and its 20 m (65.6 ft) high nave. The chorus Measuring 19,5 x 11 m (64' x 36'), the chorus has been raised and its majestic stone arch is held in place by four lions. The altar was replaced by a Neo-Gothic high-altar in 1865. The organ Built in 1781 by Jean André Silbermann, it is the only organ in Alsace with a manual of four octaves and an echo division. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary It is located on the spot of the former chapel of the St. Mary medieval hospital of Molsheim. The Chapel of St. Ignatius Formerly Chapel of the Cross. At the entrance stand four beautiful statues representing the Evangelists. The chapel took the name St. Ignatius in 1622, as a tribute to the founder of the Jesuit order. Real oasis in the heart of the city, the Jesuit Garden is a haven of piece amidst the most illustrious monuments. Surrounding St. Mary's Children's Chapel, benches blossom on the green lawn next to the Bugatti fountain. A small playground will delight toddlers.

In the wake of the French Revolution, the buildings of the former Jesuit School were transformed into a senatorial estate, managed by Marshal François-Christophe Kellermann, Duke of Valmy. Then, from 1827 to 1834, Bishop Le Pappe de Trévern established his "Petite Sorbonne" here. A couple of years later, in 1836, the Canonesses Regular of St. Augustine came to Molsheim from Dieuze (in Moselle) to open a boarding school: the Convent of Our Lady. For more than a century, they dedicated their lives to educating the young girls of the area, until the establishment closed down in 1954. Created by an architect from Lorraine, Léon Vautrin, the Neo-Gothic Chapel of the Canonesses (1864-1867) is devoted to the Sacred Heart. It is a sight to behold, with its neo-medieval architecture, cross-shaped layout, front gate columns and great stained glass windows on the facade and transept. After years of neglect, it was given back to the Church in 1984, thanks to the association of "The Friends of the Chapel of Our Lady". On the former grounds of the boarding school remains an oratory, previously known as the "Children's Chapel of St. Mary".

This is the most imposing remnant from the 14th century fortifications. The gate was equipped with a drawbridge and a portcullis, which location can still be seen today. In 1783, the upper level of the tower was seriously damaged in a fire. Nowadays, a magnificent bell from the former St. George Church (that used to stand on the marketplace) sleeps under the roof of the building. This two-ton relic might be one of the oldest bells in Alsace. For security reasons, the building is closed to the public.

The building of the "Monnaie" was designed by Jean de Manderscheid in 1573. It owes its name to the fact that money used to be coined there for a very short while. The edifice has been renovated by the municipality and assigned to the local community and culture outreach. The 56 m long (184 ft) facade features quoins from the Renaissance and 18th century windows with moldings.

This medium-sized house is none other than the former School for Girls, the birthplace of the Sisters of Divine Providence of Ribeauvillé (1783). Predating the school, the building also possesses a gabled spur walls, with a human head decorating its upper section.

Another signature dish is veal kidney, whose flavors are enhanced by Cebo Iberian ham and Cebette. On the plate, the addition of chiffonaded Iberian ham and Cebette adds a visually appealing touch. For the main course, the chef suggests roasted farmhouse duck breast, accompanied by a pineapple condiment, pan-fried duck liver and sweet potato purée. The duck breast is cut in half lengthwise, as is the duck liver. Presentation is in layers. A sweet potato purée is poured onto the plate. A pineapple condiment and a pineapple leaf complete the decoration. A little crunchy texture is provided by a pineapple potato chip placed on top. The dessert, meanwhile, is served on a plate. The dessert, meanwhile, offers sparks in the mouth. In the spotlight: a kougelhopf glazed with Alsatian mare. The "Hotel du Centre" stands in a medieval alley, near the large town square, two steps away from beautiful Renaissance buildings. It has 28 non-smoking rooms with TV, coffee/tea maker private bathroom (bathtub or shower), toilets and hair-dryer. If you want to stay together, family rooms are also available for reservation. Free Wi-Fi is at your disposal in the entire hotel. During the summer, a terrace full of flowers and in the shade will be open to clients. The hotel's parking lot is private. Welcome to the Dormeur. This hotel, located on the Alsace Wine Route, in the center of the village Dorlisheim (a 20 minutes drive from Strasbourg), features a modern and radiant setting. The hotel has 15 spacious roomes composed of a shower or a bathtub, a flat-screen TV, a desk, a lounge and some of them have a balcony. A groung floor room is devoted to disabled people with an entry at the back of the building from the car park. Three great rooms are for families but careful they are duplex with spiral staircase. Some rooms have an open bathroom with the tub in the main room. A conference room is available for a maximal capacity of 25 people. The restaurant is next to the hotel. The SPA with sauna and jacuzzi is open.
