It would be easy to believe that the name is related to the activity of the place and the number of champions in the commune of La Bresse, but in fact, the toponymic origin of this place comes from "Champiès" which means in local dialect "flat field" surrounded by mountains, where was built the stadium is one of the few flat areas of the city.

Paul Claudel (born on 1868 August 6th in Villeneuve-sur-Fère, died in Paris on 1955 February 23rd) was a French writer, poet and diplomat. Younger brother of the sculptor Camille Claudel, son of Louis-Prosper Claudel, who was born in La Bresse.

Place where 27 resistance fighters were killed on 27.09.1944. 27 granite steles were offered by the granitiers of La Bresse. These stelae were arranged according to the shape of the soil.

Each year, the town of La Bresse hosts the Camille Claudel International Festival of sculpture. The first edition took place in 1990: it was then a festival of woodcarving. The sculpture "L'ange de la paix" by the artist Ilme Kulde (Estonia) was performed for this first festival. Purchased by the city, it became the emblem of the festival. Between 1998 and 2000, the festival opens to the stone carvers, then metal.

The Church of La Bresse was consecrated by the Bishop of Toul in 1758. It is made of sandstone: the Bressauds exchanged against boards of sandstone from the surroundings of Vagney. The church was destroyed by fire in 1803. The side turrets granite dating from the late 19th century. The stained glass windows, work of glass artist Loire of Chartres tell major tragedies bressaudes . During the war the bombings 39-45, only the church was spared. Monument placed in back of the cemetery for honoring the victims of the Great War. Monument inaugurated in 1923 with two years of work and 13 workers. After the 2nd World War, two pillars were added to the monument, pillars which are engraved the names of men who died for France.

The Roches Beuty site in La Bresse offers an exceptional view of the commune and the junction of its two emblematic valleys: the Chajoux and Vologne valleys.
