This 14km route, with its single-track sections and a few narrow passages, has an ascent of 472m and takes you out of the village along hiking trails and paths to the Aravis pass. This is the perfect itinerary for gaining altitude effortlessly. For the most part shaded by fir trees, this 11.8km, 478m-high trail joins the downhill slopes at the summit, with a view of the valley that's not to be missed. After taking in the panoramic views of the Aravis chain, you can try out the P'tit Loup modules before switching to the Bike Park for a hair-raising ride back to the village. It's off for a gentle ride over a 12.4km course. Once on the trails, you won't even notice the slight 454m difference in altitude, and all you can do is admire the scenery. When you reach the plateau, it's time to make the most of it. Gourmets can stop off at the goat farm, while others take the zip-line over the lake or hit the ball at Golf des Confins. Located at an altitude of 1630 m, the slope can be reached in 10 minutes by the Beauregard gondola. Situated at altitude of 1690 m, the trail can be reached in just 10 minutes thanks to the Beauregard gondola lift. It offers seasoned mountain bikers an exceptional route with a wealth of thrills and spills. Covering a distance of 4.2 kms and a vertical drop of 411 metres, the trail offers varying levels of difficulty all in one course: raised turns, man made jumps, a suspended walkway and bridge... This course is also home to the north shore, designed by Antonin Lieutaghi. All of this and more in an amazing setting between the forests and the high mountain pastures!

Despite a small difficulty at the start of the course, this cross-country route is intended for beginners to occasional mountain bikers. With beautiful views of the resort and the Aravis mountains, it takes you through forests and meadows to Lac des Confins. Distance: 11.8km Ascent: 147m Negative ascent: 556m Duration: 2h15 If the lifts are closed, you can reach the Crêt du Merle from the village by mountain bike via the Crêt du Merle Panoramic Trail (n°50).

After the Merle road, the route climbs quickly transforming into a forest path and then a single-track to the Crèvetout farm.

A very varied course which will lead you from the Crêt du Merle to the Danay (with a loop) while passing by the lake of Confins with an alternation of descents and climbs, forests and fields, with a sight on the Aravis mountains.

The "Sainte Foy Church of La Clusaz was built in 1821 according to Camille Ruphy's plans, architect of Annecy. There has been a church in La Clusaz since 1285. In 1974, the church was extensively rebuilt as it was in a state of disrepair. The bulb bell tower was built between 1751 and 1762. This characteristic is no doubt the alpine expression of baroque art, which was at this time, to be seen on various monuments in Europe.

La Clusaz has several chapels round the village. Fernuy chapel, built in 1738, is located at the Fernuy ; Ste Anne chapel, built in 1650, is located at the Col des Aravis ; Parc chapel, built in 1631, is located at the entrance to the village ; The Var chapel, built in 1676, is located at the Var ; Gotty chapel, built in 1691, is located at the Gotty ; the Confins chapel, built in 1834, is located at Les Confins.

From this picnic area, have the best look upon La Clusaz! Letters over 2 metres high overlooking a fabulous wide view of the village, on the Family Run track. The best place for taking a nice picture with your family or friends!

The original cemetery was situated for a long time immediately around the church. In the mid-XX century, it had to be relocated so that a new village square could be built in front of the Tourist Office, the Town Hall and the church. Until the mid-XIX century, the cemetery was located just below the church, on the Aravis mountain side. In 1816/17, following very heavy snowfall, the church had to be rebuilt. During work on the new foundations, bodies were discovered all around the church. In 1850, the Prefect ordered that the cemetry be moved. To pay for the work, former residents of Le Grand Bornand who had left the village donated 2400 pounds and a further 660 pounds was raised by the villagers themselves. The new cemetery was relocated to a field just opposite of the main door of the church and it was inaugurated in 1854. The original site became free for the building of the first village hall. By the end of the 1950's, winter tourism was developping fast in Le Grand Bornand. There was pressure to design a more functional village square to serve the needs of the Town Hall and the Tourist Office. Building the new square also enabled the development of shops and restaurants. At the same time, the 1921/1923 war memorial, which used to be beside the main road, was relocated to be beside the new cemetery site. This is how the cemetry came to be moved once again, between 1957 and 1963, to its present site beside the Borne river and on the road below the Tourist Office.

Authentic house and a model of 19th century rural architecture, the Heritage House, the ecomuseum of Grand-Bornand, bears witness to the traditions and know-how that forge the identity of the village. Rearranged as it was at the end of the 19th century, the Heritage house invits you to enter in the yeasteryear inhabitants' life and to discover how traditional houses, built for families and animals, were organised.

After 60 years of building work, undertaken and financed by the local community,it was consecrated in 1877. Built in the neo-gothic style of the XIX century, the architecture is typical of the golden age of the Catholic church. From the XI to the XIII century, a small chapel stood within the parish. This chapel was served by the church in Thônes. According to descriptions given by the Bishop of Geneva during his pastoral visits in the XV century, the church was made of wood. In 1569, the church burned down and the 4 bells melted. As the baptismal fonts and the onion-shaped steeple show, it was rebuilt in the typical XVII century Baroque style. The tinplated steeple (today it is made of stainless steel) shows the influence of Savoyard migration to Germanic countries. In 1794, during the French Revolution, the church was plundered, just as in parishes all over France. The steeple was demolished and 3 of the 4 bells were melted down. The oldest bell, dating from 1767, still remains. At the beginning of the XIX century, the church fell into ruin and finally collapsed under the weight of heavy snow in 1816. Renovation of the church lasted between 1817 and 1877. The onion-shaped steeple was rebuilt between 1820 and 1845. Certain items are registered in the inventory of Historic Monuments as heritage articles (the baptismal fonts, the pulpit, the stalls and a painting). It was painted by artists from the Val Cesia in Piémont, the Gilardi and the Pellegrini. The 44-pipe Giroud organ was inaugurated in 1988. The visit is free but in summer, the visit of the church is included in the tour of the Village. Here are the furniture you can see in the Church : - Classified paintings : The virgin giving the Holy Rosary to St Dominic (18th century); and painting of the Sacred Heart (19th century) - Bronze bell from 1767 - Pews in walnut - Pulpit carved in 1827 showing the four evangelists - Altarpiece (17th century) representing the Dormition of Mary - Organs (made by Giroud) with 40 pipes dating from 1988 - The classified baptismal carved in 17th century and 1829 - Altar of 1995 with side panels representing two fundamental aspects of the economic life of the parish : the tourism and agricultural life - Wooden crucifix

The weekly market at the Grenette, the old grain market of Le Grand Bornand, characterizes the heart of the old town square. All sorts of concerts and events also take place here, such as concerts given by the local brass band and many local celebrations. The first mentions of a Grenette, or grain market, date back to 1569, when the whole village was burned down. There is evidence that there was a new building again in 1742 and it was rebuilt several times, first of all in 1797 and also in the years following 1870. It would seem that the Grenette was a wooden structure and this would explain why it often collapsed, particularly under the weight of the snow at the beginning of the XIX century. It was only rebuilt towards the end of the XIX century, when important work on the roads and the church took place. In 1954, the Grenette was rebuilt under the direction of an architect named Jacquet. Nearly 200 hewn stones were laid by the Calzorali company from Saint Jorioz and the wooden framework was made by the Seguet company in Annecy. In the stone lower section there used to be a public washouse, the public toilets and a store room for the village road-mender. This foundation layer has been preserved. In the spring of 2013, the Grenette was once again dismantled, although the stone base with the arcades and the diamond-shaped apex have been preserved.
