This loop takes you through the high hills of the Fronsadais region, dominated by windmills and the Château Plaint-Point. The history of this château is recounted in numerous historical books. Indeed, the first traces of vines date back to 1480, when Château Plaint Point was already one of the most famous vineyards in France.

This hike is accessible to all, starting from the Etang de Tourenne to discover the alluvial Palus. You can stop off at the Petit Chartron port in Lugon. In the 19th century, this port was used to load stone from the quarries at St Germain de la Rivière, as well as wine destined for several European countries.

On this walk, discover the vineyards of the Fronsac and Canon Fronsac appellations, with their beautiful landscapes between vineyards and rivers, and exceptional views. Charlemagne created a stronghold on the Fronsac knoll, which later became a viscounty and then a marquisate in the 16th century

The circuit winds its way through woods and vineyards, with beautiful winegrowing estates featuring remarkable architecture. If you like legendary places, here's a loop that combines the Château de Vayres with several Templar sites. Starting from the bastide town of Libourne, the tour follows the river as a common thread. To reach the château and its famous staircase, worthy of a ?balcony overlooking the Dordogne?, you'll need to pass through Arveyres and its Templar Commandery. And to return to Libourne, in Cadarsac, the church, founded by the Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem, houses a sacred but unfortunately hidden fountain. Take a moment to relax at Lac de Cadarsac. It's also a great place to watch migrating geese.

The "Libourne Plage" leisure area on the banks of the Lac des Dagueys has found its place in the heart of the new green lung of Libourne, around the 40-hectare lake and its square, on a 150-hectare site A water shooting allows people with reduced mobility to swim. The recreation area contributes to the enhancement of the natural area. The Balades à Roulettes® (BR®) are short, quiet walks, with a pushchair or a small bicycle, or adapted for people with reduced mobility (in a wheelchair), proposed by the French Federation of Rambling of the Gironde.

It was restored in the 19th century under the eye of a group of renowned architects including Viollet Le Duc. Its 3 hectares of underground cellars are an ideal setting for maturing the wines it produces. The château’s grounds are open to all. This church is composite style. The vault of the sanctuary, as well as the semicircular door and the narrow windows visible on the south wall date from the 11th century, the nave with ogival vault was built in the 12th century. The building was remodelled in the 19th century. The choir is decorated with relatively well-preserved paintings. The church contains a listed Gothic statue of the Virgin and Child.

This Romanesque church of Saintongeais style is, between 1171 and 1613, a priory of the abbey of Guîtres. Its Romanesque apse, vaulted in the cul de four, is decorated on the outside with seven blind semicircular arches, whose archivolts are carved with diamond points and wolf's teeth. The choir is barrel vaulted. The square bell tower on the transept dates from the 13th century. In 1868, the construction of the present neo-gothic bell tower on the western part of the building led to the destruction of the Romanesque façade.

In the 12th century, a semi-circular apse, decorated on the outside with blind arches, was added to the main nave built in the 11th century. The sanctuary, vaulted in cul de four, is separated from the nave by a large semicircular arch. The fortified bell tower was built to the west of the nave in 1687.

Château l?Escarderie, is located in the Bordeaux wine region, on the right bank in the Fronsac appellation, in Organic Agriculture. Our family vineyard (neo-vignerons since 2015) is located on the Fronsadais hillsides overlooking the Dordogne river; facing south, our vines are perfectly sunny. The clay-limestone terroir is ideal for giving minerality to our Merlot, Cabernet-Franc and Malbec grape varieties. Our mid-nineteenth-century winery allows us to vinify in the old-fashioned way, under the supervision of an experienced ?nologist. Our speciality: working with horses in the vineyards and vinification and ageing in amphorae.

Château de la Rivière dominates the Dordogne valley and the 59 hectares of its vineyards. Built in 1577 by Gaston de l'Isle on the remains of a defensive camp erected by Charlemagne, it was redesigned by an unknown architect imbued with the practices of Viollet le Duc around 1890. A prestigious 16th century castle, it imitates the style of 14th century fortresses with its towers and machicolations, its parapet walk and its loopholes. This building has vast underground cellars. They are an ideal place for maturing wine and the galleries house bottle racks carved into the rock. Visits to the cellars and the château, which has been awarded the Vignobles et Découverte label, are organised by appointment all year round and three times a day in the summer. Visitors can also visit the armoury and the shop for a tasting of two vintages.

It is an enchanting place where vineyards rub shoulders with groves and orchards, which the Romans called Plain Point “The Summit.” Perched on a hill overlooking the Fronsac plateaus and Bordeaux, Château Plain Point produces exceptional wines. HVE3

The nave of this church is vaulted with a low pointed vault, as well as the sanctuary which ends with a flat chevet. In the middle of the building, two double arches reinforce the vault. They supported a square bell tower, which was destroyed by lightning and replaced in 1780 by a high gable on the western wall. The arches rest on a pilaster and an engaged column with capitals decorated with vine leaves, acanthus leaves and masks The present bell tower, built in 1846, is square at the base and octagonal on the first floor, it is surmounted by a spire. The church houses two 13th century wooden statues representing a seated woman and a standing bishop.
