La Moussetière Pepperpot Turrets A journey back in time among the forest and bocages. You will admire the manor houses, including those in La Moussetière, with round pepperpot turrets, and discover some of the curiosities of the Remalard area.

This hike is the second stage of an 8-day, 220-km circuit, the Tour des Collines du Perche. During this second stage, you will gradually leave the Vallée de l’Huisne and enter the forest area with its foothills, coming out at Bretoncelles before going back in and then reaching the village of Moutiers-au-Perche, which is nestled in the Vallée de la Corbionne.

You'll stroll through fields and woods, ending up on the pretty banks of the Creuse with its Henri IV bridge, its lock and its beautiful church!

Manoir de la Gauberdière: 1494 - 1505 The Manoir de la GAUBERDIERE is a typical late-15th century Norman manor of the Perche area. Attached to the right hand side of the building is a bread oven and bakery. The outbuildings opposite date from the same time. To the left of the Manoir, the chapel dating from around 1540 is typically renaissance. Free entry to the grounds, the chapel (including the interior) the outbuildings, the great hall and the bakery. Visitors receive a tour leaflet and there are information boards around the site.

Created in the 19th century, the Lorière park is an English-style garden with lawns, woods and groves of exotic trees: Sequoias Wellingtonia, Calabria black pines, Lebanon cedars, Virginia junipers and a spectacular western red cedar. The walled vegetable garden was redesigned in the spirit of vegetable plots of yesteryear and has been awarded the "Potager de France" label. On this charming, typical farm, a horticultural dreamer created this garden: Le Jardin François. Some of the most elegant plants grow alongside the most humble, the most ancient with brand-new varieties. Depending on the season, you can explore the ponds, the aquatic gardens and flowers such as azaleas, camellias, lilies, cyclamens and many others. Alain Vernholes has a story to tell about each of the 500 trees he has planted on his Boiscordes property in Rémalard: from the fruit of the service tree that has to be digested by birds in order to germinate, to the cross-fertilisation of two varieties of elms to create a hybrid resistant to the Dutch Elm Disease which decimated the entire European population of elms, to how he managed to bring back seeds and young plants from his travels in the Americas, Asia and throughout Europe. Take a tour guided by Alain Vernholes and enjoy the glorious autumn colours in his arboretum.
