Alain Vernholes has a story to tell about each of the 500 trees he has planted on his Boiscordes property in Rémalard: from the fruit of the service tree that has to be digested by birds in order to germinate, to the cross-fertilisation of two varieties of elms to create a hybrid resistant to the Dutch Elm Disease which decimated the entire European population of elms, to how he managed to bring back seeds and young plants from his travels in the Americas, Asia and throughout Europe.
