Au Bois Renard, vous pourrez admirer une des plus belles roches mégalithiques du Lyonnais : la Roche Saint Martin. Cette dernière avait certainement des fonctions initiatiques et guérisseuses. Profitez d’une petite pause au barrage de Thurins pour parcourir le sentier d’interprétation et tout savoir sur la faune, la flore et l’histoire de ce site. In the ancient village of Châteauvieux, the 11th century chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and built in a very pure Romanesque style, stands on an exceptional site.

The remaining 9th-12th century Romanesque parts are what is left of the village's original church. It is within the "vingtain", a 14th century defensive wall. It was enlarged several times and the new Neo-Romanesque church dates back to the 19th century.

Ancient fief acquired in 1229 by Guillaume, abbot of Barbe island, and vassal of Girin d'Hoirieu. Handed down by the women, it belonged to various families.

A modern figurative painter, Albert Néel is a multi-talented artist: posters, theatre sets, films on art, poetry... In 1982, Albert Néel began to devote himself to his art, and it was in 1969 that his works were first presented to the public. The three words suggested by Albert Néel to situate his work are light, life and balance. His other artistic activities include marquetry, sculpture, posters, theater sets, frescoes, stained glass, illustration and poetry.... He has been awarded the Grand Prix Jean-Luc Defait (Bordeaux), the International Trophée du Dieu Pan (Florence), the Grand Prix International Albert Durer (Monaco) and the Grand Prix International Léonard de Vinci (Rome).

The church was built in the 12th and 15th centuries. A charter from 919 mentions the village of Chazelles and a church dedicated to Saint-Michel and belonging to the Savigny abbey. The 3 crossbeams preceding the choir, as well as part of the Chapelle Saint-Jean and the Chapelle de la Sainte Vierge, probably date back to the oldest part of the Château (commandery), i.e. the 13th century (1220 - 1240). In the 15th and 16th centuries, the church was enlarged with the construction of another bay and chapels on the south side (Place J.B. Galland). In 1827, the last two bays, the lower north side, the chapels and the present bell tower were built. In the early 20th century, the gallery was added, and in 1966, the interior was restored. The facade of the square bell tower has a double-tiered, flat-roofed bay window above a tripartite screen facade punctuated by powerful pilasters. The portal and part of the facade are built of Lyonnais conchylian limestone, a stone composed of highly visible fossilized shells.
