Parking : D69 around the lake, camping side, parking in front of the football stadium. Route : opposite the stadium, explanatory panel in front of the chalet and path starting just to the right, beside the stream. A 650 m loop with explanatory and entertaining panels on the Vosges fauna and flora. Weather conditions may make this route impassable.

Walking trail : take the botanical circuit path which starts on the right of the stadium entrance then follow the red disc markings to the Saut de la Bourrique. At the foot of the waterfall, go up the path on your left. At the top, take the forest track on your left, pass in front of the motocross ground and then continue on the way back. Weather conditions may make this route impassable.

Route: follow the blue disc markers on the ONF sign near the voluntary drop-off point (between chemin des Rochottes and chemin du Tour du Lac). Parking : D11, in the center of the village, close to the church. Walking trail : start in front of the church. Follow the road to the Petit Paradis. At the crossroads, turn left and follow the road du Petit Tholy (red disc/yellow ring). At the intersection of the forest roads, take the small stony path that descends towards the Trou de l’Enfer (red ring). After a few rather difficult meters you will arrive at this gorge. Possible stop at the small bridge which crosses the Barba creek. Go back on your steps. Weather conditions may make this route impassable.

Parking : at the center of the village, continue towards Chamdray. At the border of the forest, take a right at the intersection. Follow the road and at the next junction, continue right. Before exiting the forest, park to the right. Trail : explanatory signs of the trail, follow the signs with the ear.You will come across 4 sound terminals: use the QR code. Parking : free parking in the city centre or near the lake. Access to the boatmen’s quay at about 300 m. Walking trail : take the path around the lake on your left. The path goes around the campsite located at the shore of the lake and then joins a difficult narrow and stony path not suitable to pushchairs which leads to the end of the lake. Continue on this path which then runs along the Épinal road to the boatmen’s quay. Weather conditions may make this route impassable.

The Mérelle waterfall is located on the Mérelle stream. The water falls from a porphyry slab in two main streams. Its height is 5 meters. Its flow is not very important. The stream flows into the lake of Gérardmer.

Peat bog located near the Observatory of Mérelle and the waterfall of Mérelle. Site whose plant and animal species are protected.

Viewpoint over the heights of Mérelle and the Beillard below. It was named after Jean-Baptiste Morand, who was born on 8 February 1813 in Gérardmer. He had an exceptional career in the French army. He started out as a soldier in the Belgian War of Independence, during which he took part in the capture of the citadel at Antwerp. He became a captain in 1841. Following the Crimean War, he was awarded the Légion d'Honneur in 1855. In 1870, the Franco-Prussian war broke out and he came out of retirement to take charge of the Isère Mobile Guard Battalion. He was promoted to Officer of the Legion of Honour. He then retired to Gérardmer and helped set up the Promenades Committee in 1875. When he died in 1893, he was remembered for his tireless work in creating and marking out footpaths. In his memory, the Comité des Promenades named this rock after him, and the town named an avenue on the banks of the lake after him.

The summit culminates at 897 m, accessible only on foot or by mountain bike. The view from here is of the lake and the town of Gérardmer. On the other hand, from the top of the Mérelle tower, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the lake, the town and the Gérardmer Station alpine ski area.

The Mérelle observatory has a 360 degree panoramic view. The scouts, during a hike on the heights of Gérardmer in July 1964, found themselves on the heights of the site, overlooking the lake of Gérardmer. A project was then born: the construction of this superb wooden viewpoint with 85 spiral steps offering a spectacular view of Lake Gérardmer in the foreground, with the Gérardmer Stations ski area and the Route des Crêtes in the background.
