A looping tour of the historic site of the Popes' summer residence and a gastronomic mecca. After passing through the village, the tour takes you to the famous vineyards, where you'll discover a landscape of pebbles and vines.

Located on the banks of the Rhône, Islon St Luc is part of a Natura 2000 protected area. The area is of particular interest for its flora and fauna, and boasts a beautiful natural ensemble with a wide variety of species and natural habitats.Trees are dotted all over the area making it a nice place where families and older generations will enjoy going for a walk. Joggers and ramblers can make use of the health circuit set up there. Picnics can be enjoyed on the stone benches and tables in the shade of tall trees. Make sure you visit the Arboretum set up by the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the National Forestry Office. It gives you the opportunity to find out about some surprising varieties of trees. L’Islon is the starting point for discovery trails such as the ecological trail, which invites visitors to (re)discover the natural heritage of Bras des Arméniers (distance: 2 km). Information panels along the way explain how the natural environment of Islon Saint Luc works. This is also the starting point for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape natural heritage trail. It goes along the banks of the Rhone and the converted towpath. It features a series of historic and environmental information panels. 10 km circuit. A 3-hour, partially signposted ride from either Orange or Caderousse. If you want to cycle in peace and quiet, at the heart of nature and in the shade, follow the “Green Island” trail. From the town centre, encircled by its imposing embankment, and where you can admire a historic heritage, you will set off along the River Rhone and its canals, and then along a greenway, guaranteeing perfect safety and tranquility. Leave the small village of Caderousse by a temporary Via Rhôna trail that leads to the peaks of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards before entering Avignon." The route climbs up around 1 km and crosses through hillside vineyards affording beautiful views over the Rhone Valley. After Sorgues and as far as Pontet, the 3.5-km route through industrial and commercial areas demands more vigilance until the greenway running along the canals, at the entrance to Avignon, a stunning way in to the former City of the Popes. If you have children in tow, it may be easier to take the train from Sorgues or Orange to Avignon.

A trail passing through the wheat fields and old Provençal farmhouses of Orange. Visit to the village of Piolenc, with the legendary Nationale 7 road running through it. On the Plateau des Courens, overlooking the village of Beaumes-de-Venise, stood a Gallo-Roman oppidum built by the Celto-Ligurians, and naturally defended by steep slopes.

At the intersection, take a right then, the “Route de la Bertrane”. At the intersection go straight. Take a first right, long straight road for 4.6km. At the stop sign go right. At the intersection take a left on the D-8 (be careful – heavily travelled road). 50 meters before the roundabout, right on “Chemin Saint André. At the stop sign go straight to Sablet, biking in front of a tennis court. At the intersection go right. Go through the village in the direction of Gigondas. Cross on the left direction Gigondas (be careful, cars are coming from behind). At the stop sign go left (go across in 2 stages – be careful) cross through Gigondas. Take the direction of Vacqueyras on the D-7. In Vacqueyras, go straight. At the roundabout turn right then go 400 m further and take the first left . Follow this road (intersection on the left) to the D7. Then go to the right (be careful, lots of traffic on this road). 1 km from there, take the first road on the left (road to the right). Climb up to the Notre Dame d'Aubune chapel. Continue on the road.

Our guest house is an 18th-century farmhouse located in a residential area of Roquemaure, in the heart of the vineyards and cradle of the Côtes du Rhône. Right in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône vineyards, from which it originated, Roquemaure is located on the banks of the river, offering quick access to numerous hiking trails, with Mont Ventoux in the background. Our house is a former 18th-century farmhouse, separated into two separate dwellings. A private part, previously restored, and a part dedicated to guests, which my wife and I have renovated and decorated. It comprises three bedrooms on two floors and a shared kitchen. Outside, there's a 30m² terrace and a 600m² garden with an 8x4m swimming pool and Jacuzzi. It's located in a quiet residential area in the village of Roquemaure, 16km from Avignon, ideally situated between the Vaucluse and Gard regions to discover the tourist highlights of the South of France. The village has a rich history, thanks in particular to its geographical location on the banks of the Rhône and its proximity to Avignon. As a hub for wine transportation, it was here that the Côtes du Rhône appellation was created. Today, the remains of the château and the collegiate church bear witness to this prestigious past. The latter is still important today, as it houses the relics of Saint Valentine, which are the subject of an annual votive celebration attracting large numbers of devotees. Its baroque organ is listed as a historic monument. In addition to the region's many tourist and cultural attractions, the wine industry shapes the landscape. Built at the beginning of the Christian era, it owes its reputation to the remarkable preservation of its stage wall. The Theatre features all the components of the Latin Theatre according to Vitruvius: the cavea (hemicyclic seating), the side entrances and the stage wall flanked by parascenia. Designed to accommodate Gallo-Roman audiences, this was the place to spread Roman culture and language. 9,000 spectators could attend tragedies and comedies, as well as dance, acrobatics and juggling shows. The buildings, rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries to designs by Pierre Mignard, were partly demolished after the French Revolution. Between terraces, ponds and the remains of Romanesque churches, you'll find Tuscan flowerbeds, century-old olive trees and other Mediterranean plants. Our guest house is an 18th-century farmhouse located in a residential area of Roquemaure, in the heart of the vineyards and cradle of the Côtes du Rhône. Our house is a former 18th-century farmhouse, separated into two separate dwellings. A private part, previously restored, and a part dedicated to guests, which my wife and I have renovated and decorated. It comprises three bedrooms on two floors and a shared kitchen. Outside, there's a 30m² terrace and a 600m² garden with an 8x4m swimming pool and Jacuzzi. It's located in a quiet residential area in the village of Roquemaure, 16km from Avignon, ideally situated between the Vaucluse and Gard regions to discover the tourist highlights of the South of France. The village has a rich history, thanks in particular to its geographical location on the banks of the Rhône and its proximity to Avignon. As a hub for wine transportation, it was here that the Côtes du Rhône appellation was created. Today, the remains of the château and the collegiate church bear witness to this prestigious past. The latter is still important today, as it houses the relics of Saint Valentine, which are the subject of an annual votive celebration attracting large numbers of devotees. Its baroque organ is listed as a historic monument. In addition to the region's many tourist and cultural attractions, the wine industry shapes the landscape. We're close to the famous vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, as well as Lirac, Laudun and Chusclan, lesser-known but well worth a visit and tasting for wine lovers.
