Trail marking: Yellow An itinerary to discover the forest environment and the Ternoise river, popular with fishermen. The Hesdin national forest, the green lung of the 7 Valleys, extends over more than 1000 hectares. It is populated mainly by beech and hornbeam and many animal species such as deer, woodcock and even the green woodpecker.

This coastal river is popular with kayakers and fishermen. This environment is rich in specific fauna and flora such as willows, muscardins and even tree frogs. Along the way, we see the remains of the Lianes fortress, the Moulin de Bleuance and finally the old priory of Beaurainville.

Trail marking: Yellow A walk that takes you to the heart of the green Planquette valley. This river, a tributary of the Canche, extends over 12km. You walk along the Hesdin forest before discovering Cavron-Saint-Martin.

The Transternésienne connects the rural towns of Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise, Frévent and Auxi-le château, between the Canche and Authie valleys.By traveling the 27km of this old converted railway line you will discover a very rich natural, cultural and historical heritage.On your way, take the time to contemplate the landscapes of Ternois, observe its fauna and flora and discover the history of this rural territory forged by agriculture and industry.

It offers a variety of landscapes between woods and fields, as well as a beautiful 15th-century church and typical old buildings.

Marking on the trail: Yellow A multifaceted itinerary made up of a fine sand beach, a dune massif, the mollières of Canche Bay and on which you will discover the seaside resort of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage and its typical villas: the touquettoises.

Trail marking: Yellow-red Land of springs, the Ternois is of real interest both in terms of fauna and flora. It offers a diversity of landscapes rich in wooded and hilly sites, crossed by waterways. The Authie, the Canche, the Clarence, the Lys and the Ternoise constitute a real reservoir of water for the well-being of walkers and fishermen. Proud of its illustrious past, the Ternois has a remarkable historical and cultural heritage. Here, castles, manors, water mills, old farms and typical houses dot the different landscapes. Finally, a land of passage since always, the Ternois has retained the sense of hospitality and welcome, specific to a region with strong traditions.Here are the different stages awarding this course :  Etape 1 (13km): de la gare de Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise à Monchy Cayeux  Tout commence à la gare de Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise ou vous traverserez les nombreuses rues de la capitale du Ternois pour arriver au hameau de Saint-Martin. Un point de vue sur le village est situé dans la vallée pour plus de visibilité. En Arrivant dans la ville, vous pouvez apercevoir l’Eglise médiévale de Saint-Martin. Cette église partiellement détruite au cours de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale est devenue importante pour le canton de Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise. Pour finir cette première étape, vous arrivez sur Monchy Cayeux. Etape 2 (16,5km): de Monchy Cayeux à Auchy-lès-Hesdin Durant cette deuxième étape, vous aurez le privilège de pouvoir visiter l’église Saint-Léger d’Anvin, une église datant de 1562 ayant été restauré durant le 19e siècle. Pour continuer sur le chemin, l’églide de Teneu, plutôt d’un style byzantin Saint-Germain du 18e siècle. De passage dans de petites communes du ternois comme Tilly-Capelle, Blangy-sur-Ternoise ou encore Rollancourt. Etape 3 (14km): de Auchy-lès-Hesdin à Wail En quittant Auchy-lès-Hesdin, vous déboucherez sur un chemin qui vous mènera directement sur la place principale d’Auchy-lès-Hesdin, connue pour être le reste d’une abbaye ou plusieurs des chefs français tués à la bataille d’Azincourt furent inhumés. Une petite halte à Grigny ? C’est tout à fait possible surtout pour visiter l’église Sainte-Gertrude de style gothique de 1680. Etape 4 (16km): de Wail à Frévent La fontaine Saint-Fiacre, l’église Saint-Martin du 18e siècle, la ferme du Valentin de 1772 ainsi que le moulin, c’est tout ce que vous pouvez retrouver dans la commune appartenant aux 7 vallées. En quittant Wail, vous tomberez sur Fillièvres, anciennement Ferives en 1112. Une jolie balade au bord de la Canche et ses marais. Cette rivière, ou plutôt cette rivière qu’est la Canche qui se jette dans la mer avec plus de 97 kilomètres de longueur. Etape 5 (19km): de Frévent à Saint Pol Pour finir cette dernière étape du Sentier du Ternois Sud de plus de 19km commence par la commune de Frévent avec son Eglise Saint-Hilaire, maintes fois endommagée et restaurée est un bel exemple du gothique du 16ème siècle et du néo-gothique du 19ème siècle. Sur le chemin final, vous passerez dans les communes de Sibiville, Ramecourt à travers champs. Avant de rejoindre le commencement de ce GR du Ternois Sud, vous longerez le bois qui vous permettra de vous remémorez chaque moment passé durant ce sentier de grande randonnée

Vitz-sur-Authie has the unusual distinction of having not one, but two churches: one listed as a Historic Monument and the other resulting from its merger with Villeroy in 1839. Take a walk along the banks of the Authie, which flows through the whole of the commune, and discover a heritage that holds many surprises: the woodwork in the beautiful church of Vitz, and in the small cemetery of Villeroy, the tomb of the Countess Léon, wife of Count Léon, the first natural son of Napoleon 1st.

Situated on the banks of the Authie river, Willencourt boasts over 800 years of history. The village boasts an interesting architectural and natural heritage, including a wattle-and-daub school hall (one of the few in the département), an 18th-century chapel and a marshland linked to the history of its Royal Abbey. Willencourt offers a variety of landscapes that testify to its attachment to its heritage and respect for diversity. To welcome visitors to the village in a pleasant setting, the commune and its residents are very active in the flowering of the village, which has earned Willencourt several awards, including the silver medal for villages in bloom. Buire-au-Bois nestles in the hollow of a dry valley leading down to the Authie, in a tranquil setting with colours that change with the seasons. From the splendour of the 18th century to the dark hours of the Second World War, history has left its mark: the town hall and school, the 17th-century manor house and Notre-Dame church (1752), the Louis XV-style "folie" (1755-1757). On the heights of the village, tortured pastures betray the phosphate mining (1885-1905) that made its fortune. Bachimont is home to the world's finest V1 flying bomb launch base. With its cob houses, wells, flower beds and its four-season market (a remarkable tree), Buire offers a variety of landscapes that testify to its attachment to its heritage and respect for diversity. There are a number of walking routes that wind their way through all these sites, making for a pleasant stroll along the paths!

Identified Casualties: 92 Historical Information Use of the cemetery began in June 1918 when the 46th Casualty Clearing station settled, used later by 6th Stationary Hospital, and subsequently completed by the inclusion of graves from French cemeteries and German burial grounds in the area. The cemetery was used again during the Second World War. The cemetery now contains 81 Commonwealth burials of the First World War (eight of them unidentified) and 19 Second World War burials. Founded in the 14th century by the Count of Boulogne, The Chartreuse In ‘Neuville-sous-Montreuil’ stands up in the Canche valley, close to the city of Montreuil-sur-Mer. You can discover the actual monument (20 000 m2) rebuilt by the local architect Clovis Normand in the 19th century. Guiding tours are available.

Montreuil origins are closely linked to religious history. Its name is coming from a latin word ‘monasteriolum’ that means ‘small monastery’. In 926 AD, monks of the abbey of Landévennec (Brittany) ran away because of Norman invasions and found refuge in Montreuil to found the abbey of Saint-Walloy (strange other local name for Saint-Guénolé). In 1111 AD, that abbey was renamed when Saint-Saulve relics were brought. In Middle-Ages, pilgrims were attracted by numerous relics and provided a character of sanctity to the town. It was called then the ‘Ponthieu Necropolis’. In 1467, a natural catastrophe caused the collapse of six religious monuments at least including the Hôtel-Dieu and the Saint-Saulve Church. The last monument was entirely rebuilt in the very beginning of the 16th century. But it was only a short respite: the armies of Charles Quint set the church on fire when the town had been attacked. It was partly rebuilt because of the financial cost. The whole Sacred Art Treasure disappeared in 1793. Saint-Austreberthe relics including a richly decorated pastoral crosier were placed indoors after the French Revolution. In the 19th century, the addition of other relics makes the whole sacred treasure one of the richest of the North of France. It is possible to see a part of it during a visit inside the Abbey Church.

The Citadel considered as a military fortress, was declared historic monument and wants to remember the military life from Middle Ages to the Great World. Today it is home to a great part of the 'Musée de France Roger Rodière' collections and a youth hostel. The place named 'Le Trou du Chêne' - Hole in the oak tree - is the cemetery place of 25 Indian soldiers who died from December 1914 to March 1916. When arriving in the village Neuville-sous-Montreuil, drive into the Chartreuse Road and then turn on the left.

Nœux-les-Auxi is a charming little village nestling at the bottom of a dry valley perpendicular to the Authie. The village square is shaded by linden trees over a hundred years old, and it is around this square that social life is organised, with the school, the town hall and the school accommodation, as well as religious life, with the church and the former presbytery. The village has retained its festive character, with traditional, cultural and nature festivals, the highlight of which is the transhumance to the Riez nature reserve in May. The route takes in the chapel, the village café, the château, a beautiful Picardy farmhouse, cob buildings and the church. To admire the scenery, walkers can also take advantage of two hiking trails starting from the village and a 12 km loop, the sentier des Capris.
