Buire-au-Bois nestles in the hollow of a dry valley leading down to the Authie, in a tranquil setting with colours that change with the seasons. From the splendour of the 18th century to the dark hours of the Second World War, history has left its mark: the town hall and school, the 17th-century manor house and Notre-Dame church (1752), the Louis XV-style "folie" (1755-1757). On the heights of the village, tortured pastures betray the phosphate mining (1885-1905) that made its fortune. Bachimont is home to the world's finest V1 flying bomb launch base.
With its cob houses, wells, flower beds and its four-season market (a remarkable tree), Buire offers a variety of landscapes that testify to its attachment to its heritage and respect for diversity. There are a number of walking routes that wind their way through all these sites, making for a pleasant stroll along the paths!
