The chapel was built in 1627 and dedicated to Saint Bernard de Menthon and Saint Barbara. Gaspard Cornuty, prior curate of Gilly until 1633, is rector of the Aidier village chapel, dedicated to Saint Bernard de Menthon and Saint Barbara, as well as the Saint Michael chapel in the Gilly church.
