Nice and little walk you can do with kids. Enjoy a beautiful view on Beaufort from the Bec de l'Aigle. The village of Beaufort offers all the characteristics of a mountain village with its stone houses with painted facades, gathered around the church St Maxime and along the Doron. The current town hall is located in the castle of Randens, dating from the fifteenth century and restored in the nineteenth century, residence of the lords responsible for the administration of the dukes of Savoy. About the Château de Randens: It dates from the 15th century. During his campaign against the Duke of Savoy, Henry IV stayed there on October 10, 1600, "in great company of princes and other gendarmerie". Wanting to cross the Cormet d'Arêches, he was blocked by the snow and left for Saint Pierre d'Albigny. They requisitioned horses, fodder and food for the troops.

You will pass very near the Leisure Base, where you can have a pleasant break at the edge of the pond. The route starts from Place Frison Roche in Beaufort and takes the road to Domelin. The climb is not very technical, mainly on road to Domelin to take a steeper trail before reaching the hamlet of Curtillets. The crossing and descent are on a more technical trail allowing to progress in MTB driving. You will find after the Grands-Praz, the D70 which joins the village of Beaufort.

The climb to the Col du Pré offers a formidable alternative for accessing Lac de Roselend. From Beaufort, this ascent offers a succession of incredible panoramas, including the listed hamlet of Boudin, with its large wooden chalets clinging to the slope and covered in flowers, and an unforgettable view of Lake Roselend. Before you reach the top, however, you'll have to negotiate a 15-turn ascent with average gradients of between 8 and 10%! At the summit, a short descent allows you to loop back to the Col du Meraillet and, depending on your state of fitness, continue the ascent to Cormet de Roselend (1964m) or return to your starting point. From Albertville, this pass has a total of 1059 points on the square.

After the unrelenting climb to the Col de Méraillet, a gentle 2-km descent allows you to rest your legs and soak up the superb view across Roselend Reservoir. The final section of the road zigzags above the lake to the Cormet.

This circuit on a sunny slope will make you take a little height to admire the village of Beaufort, the plain of Marcôt, the Grand-Mont and the valley of Arêches. We are at the foot of the slope that Roger Frison-Roche called "Le Versant du Soleil", each hamlet competing for the first sun. Behind you, under the mountain of Outray, going down, the hamlets of Péchat, Les Outards, Grand Praz, Les Prés, les Curtillets. Many barns are scattered along the slope in the middle of the meadows.

Grand-Praz is a hamlet which dominates Beaufort and the valley of the Doron, perched over a rocky ridge and surrounded by a big meadow, the "Praz", in dialect. On the way up, you cross the Dard district, where they used to work as a tanner. Along the alley, the houses are narrow, high with balconies on different levels. At the waterfall begins a wide, steep and carefully paved path that leads to the upper hamlets. Beautiful shaded walk from where you will discover the habitat and farms with a nice view from the Cours and a return to the edge of wood. The brook of the Dard (name of pre-Romanesque origin which designates a waterfall) crosses in cascade a rocky bar, then channeled along the path. Higher at the turn of the road, turning, we overlook the village of Beaufort. The church of Saint Maxime was built, sheltered from the floods of torrents, on the rocky promontory that dominates the Confluent of Doron and Argentina. Around its square bell tower, solid as a keep, the Châtelard quarter is the oldest in Beaufort. The oldest houses date from the early seventeenth century. To the left of the bell tower is the round tower, topped with a conical roof, a house of notables. Along the Doron, on the right bank, a trading quarter developed in the early nineteenth century.

This long climb on a perfectly surfaced road is divided into two distinct sections by a 0.6-km descent. The first section rises at a relatively constant gradient of 6.5% for 8 km; the second section is slightly shorter, 6.6 km, but also steeper, averaging more than 7%. A relatively long climb divided into two sections. The 1st, 8 km long, is fairly regular and runs at around 6.5%, followed by a short 600 m descent, and then the final 6.6 km section at an average of over 7%. This climb totals 890 points on the Albertville square.

A beautiful and quiet hike, on the heights of Beaufort with a magnificent view on the village. From Beaufort, take the direction of Roselend, on 3km, take that of the hamlet of Les Villes Dessous, and just before the hamlet of Les Villes Dessus, take the narrow road to the right, for 4 km until the car park of Plan du Mont. - By foot, take the trail on your right, after 20 meters : on the left. Climb in the forest (up to 1800m altitude) then on the mountainside, and then reach a large scree under the mountain of Outray (2181m). Arrival at Outray at 2182m altitude, the point of view is magnificent! Continue for 500meters until you reach the Abri des 3 Moineaux, where you can see a superb alpine pasture, now occupied by flocks of sheep.

A direct access to adventure! Accessible to pedestrians and ideal for mountain bike descents, with a few rules to follow: - Riding two on the same bike is strictly prohibited (including with baby carriers, Shotgun, or similar devices), -Only mountain bikes are allowed on the tracks (other vehicles are prohibited), - Wearing a helmet is mandatory (full-face helmet recommended), - Protective gear (knee pads, elbow pads, chest plate, back protector, gloves, goggles, etc.) is strongly recommended.

A very nice endurance course between forest, alpine pastures and forest from Arêches that you can shorten by 6km and 1h15 by taking the chairlift of the Grand-Mont open 2 to 3 times a week in July and August. No major technical difficulties. It is a great adventure that awaits you on this long course with multiple variants if you want to shorten it. First ascent on road and track oriented North-East, from where you will admire the valley of Arêches and the pretty hamlet of Boudin. Just before Le Plateau du Cuvy, you will descend on a very pleasant trail despite small thorns and roots. Above Saint Guérin, towards Le Col du Pré, you will cross beautiful pastures to the sound of the cows bells, around the Acrays from where the view is splendid. The crossing to the Col du Pré can sometimes be slippery on a wet terrain, equipped with bridges. The last descent is in the forest of Le Bersend up to Le Praz hamlet, with a return on road to Arêches.

The Baroque Church of Saint Maxime is located in the middle of the oldest district of Beaufort: Le Châtelard. Securely attached to the rock, the church is dominated by a huge square tower. Its facades contrast with the interior decoration. From the 17th century, the population of Beaufort and surrounding hamlets were actively involved in the reconstruction of the church, which ended in the 19th century. The first church dated back to 1171. The present church with its basilica shape comprises of a large rectangular space, which includes the central nave, side aisles and choir, which is also rectangular. The vaults of the nave are leaning on a series of cross section pillars separating the aisles and supporting the galleries. The pulpit, commissioned in 1720 to Jacques Clérant, a renowned sculptor from Moûtiers, was installed in 1722. During the revolution, the rioters tried in vain to demolish the bell tower: if the steeple was destroyed, the walls were saved by the local population. Inside the church, the sumptuous decoration highlights religious themes; they recount the life of the Virgin Mary, Christ and the Saints, and represent the great stories of the Bible. Everything was done to accommodate, dazzle, amaze, convince and reassure the faithful. Masses are held here regularly.

Heritage Discovery walk : Follow, on the map provided by the tourist office, the itinerary that includes 18 signs. The departure is just in front of the fountain, Avenue du Capitaine Bulle, next to the Tourist Office.

This imposing building with its austere exterior, located in the village centre, houses a wealth of Baroque riches. Climb the steps, open the door and discover them for yourself. Don't be taken in by the minimalist façade of this imposing building... It was rebuilt during the 17th century, retaining the Romanesque base of the original bell tower, but its renovated interior features a host of beautiful, Baroque elements: the vast, 18th century tabernacle, twisted columns adorned with grape vines and gold leaf, the fine, scalloped rood beam etc. But the masterpiece is undoubtedly its pulpit. It was carved from walnut in 1722 by Jacques Clérant and is adorned with images of the Church Fathers, angels and garlands of flowers. It is a powerful example of the knowledge and expertise of the various craftsmen and locals who worked on this building during the Baroque period! You may also want to explore the U-shaped gallery which is typical of churches in the Beaufortain region.

This baroque church is famous for its steeple that we call "clocher à bulbe". This monument is dedicated to St Jacques d'Assyrie (1st évêque of Tarentaise).

The Church of St. John the Baptist of Arêches is a fine homogeneous example of Savoyard Baroque art and deserves a visit. Basilica- shaped, with a particularly bright altarpiece, the interior of the church creates a surprising contrast with the exterior. The main structure of the church was completed in 1829; its rich and sumptuous interior decoration from Italy took several years to complete. The bulbous steeple, traditional in Savoie, was built around the same time. One must note the importance of images that gave the faithful easy access to the Bible, the life of the Virgin, Christ and the Saints who were seen as intermediaries of God.

The village of Boudin is the highest of the many hamlets of the Beaufort community. This village is so remarkable that it has been classified as a ‘protected site’ by the Academy of Fine Arts since 1943 and some of its chalets are registered in the heritage inventory. When you observe the village from downstream, you realize that it is located on a steep slope between 1,230m and 1,380m. The chalets are grouped and layered into horizontal rows, they all enjoy the sun and a beautiful view of the valley. There are about 5-6 rows of chalets. In the past, hamlets in the Beaufort area were very isolated, especially in winter. Life was organized around several gathering points: the trough, the bread oven, the school and the chapel. Built in 1630, the Saint Jacques chapel was probably erected to replace an older wood version. Inhabitants were involved in its construction and decoration, providing money, materials and labour. It was recently restored and can be visited. A fire destroyed three beautiful chalets in December 2010. They have been reconstructed in accordance with the original architecture.

Dedicated to Saint-Ours, and still consacrated, Beaubois Chapel must have been built in the 16th Centhury, or in the beginning of the 17th. Before, Roselend's path came along the village, and the Chapel was probably home to pray for walkers.
