The Margot cave, with its limestone chambers, is steeped in mystery. The strange legend of Margot rubs shoulders with bats and prehistoric engravings, which will be presented to you on a guided tour. The Rochefort cave reveals prehistoric human remains thanks to an archaeological dig and a chasm some fifteen metres deep, in which you can admire stalactites, stalagmites and a small underground lake. Outside in the valley, you can follow hiking trails, visit the prehistory museum, picnic by the river, try your hand at climbing and caving... Clawing, biting and galloping! At the Museum of Prehistory, a huge variety of animals are hiding behind the glass. But prehistory is a very long period, marked by different climates and landscapes, from icy steppes to temperate forests. After exploring the museum, put the animal bones back in the right place... Unless you come across a bone! Ages 6 to 9, limited to 20 places. Free admission to the Musée de Préhistoire and the temporary exhibition included in the ticket.

Built on former sarcophagus in the beginning of the 12th century. Built in sandstone and granite, on a rocky promontory. Frescos from the 12th and 14th centuries, restored in 2006. A short distance from the village of Saint-Céneri-le-Géreil, you will find one of the most beautiful villages in France. At Les Jardins de la Mansonière, you can visit a lovely garden with a succession of nine walled gardens: a rose garden with ancient varieties, a moon garden, a tranquil Asian garden, a scented garden, patio garden, neo-gothic vegetable garden, etc. Evening events by candlelight, exhibitions, concerts.

On an area of more than 35 000m², a plantation of 291 trees were made in 1997. The first part puts together 8 different types of trees (leaves and pins) and after a few turns, you can discover the second part fully dedicated to the oaks. Explanation boards allow you to discover on your own the different trees. Access of the garden by the Koutiala boulevard.

The regular overflowing of the river Sarthe miraculously spared this area from the development undergone by its surroundings; the Fuie des Vignes is a wild natural area located between two districts in Alençon. Monitored by naturalists for over a century, thanks to the Alençon local authorities, the site is now appropriately managed to preserve its remarkable biodiversity. Trail open all year round. Alençon Museum of Fine Arts and Lace occupies a prestigious setting within the Cour Carrée de la Dentelle, the town's former Jesuit school. The major attraction of the collections is the outstanding presentation of needlepoint, especially the prestigious "Point d'Alençon". The technique for making this lace has been on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2010. The fine arts section has a permanent display of works from French, Italian and Scandinavian schools from the 17th to the 20th century: Boudin, Courbet, Fantin-Latour, Monanteuil, etc. Visitors will be amazed at the exceptional Cambodian collection from the last century.

The birthplace of Saint Thérèse - the house of her sainted parents Louis and Zélie - is open to visitors, giving an authentic look at how life was in those times. The guided tour follows the lives of the Martin family - Saints Louis and Zélie, Saint Thérèse de Lisieux and her sisters - through 5 locations around Alençon: the hall, with its historic gallery, the exhibition of personal items, the auditorium, the house and the chapel. A film based on family correspondence shows us family life in Alençon where she lived between 1871 and 1877. The setting recreates the atmosphere and youth of the young saint. The chapel celebrates Sainte Thérèse in sculpture and frescoes and opens into the room where Thérèse was born. It was also here that Saint Zélie drew her final breath. The tour ends with the shop and welcome area. There is a lift to the first floor and the chapel. Audio-guided tour. The chapel is open every day from 8am to 6pm.

Le Ruchot is a large, friendly group gîte in the heart of nature, with a large veranda and panoramic terrace. It is located on the edge of the Grande Charnie forest, overlooking open meadows. You can enjoy the country views from the gîte's garden. Renovated in 2015, the gîte du Ruchot has a large, fully-equipped dining room that can accommodate up to 80 guests, a lounge area with a wood-burning stove and a fully-equipped kitchen. In terms of accommodation, the gîte can sleep 64 people in 15 bedrooms and dormitories (and up to 70 people with extra beds), spread over 2 buildings. The gîte has a total of 12 WCs and 10 showers. There is a large barbecue outside, and wood is provided for the stove.
