Circuit-Découverte Basly

BASLY-EGLISE-CREDIT-FRANCOIS-DUPONT
Credit : François Dupont

Description

Located just a few kilometers from the sea, bordered by fields of wheat and flax and the Mue valley, the charming village of Basly invites you to take a stroll. Take a stroll through the streets and discover Basly's heritage: medieval church, large 16th and 17th century estates and small heritage buildings. All elements that forge the identity of this village.

The village's history was marked by the arrival of Swiss evangelists and Calvinists. The presence of Protestantism led to the construction of a temple in 1685, which was destroyed shortly after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. A small Protestant cemetery still stands today, a romantic interlude on this discovery tour. You'll also find many traces of recent history, dating back to the D-Day landings.
