Description

A tour of Mount Séti means immersing yourself in a wild mountain where only the alert call of the marmots will break the silence of these high spaces. On either side of the mountain, two refuges welcome you for an authentic interlude.

You start your adventure in the typical village of La Savonne. This gives you an idea of the atmosphere that awaits you, as this pretty loop passes through pretty stone hamlets that bear witness to the intense pastoral life of yesteryear: imagine whole families accompanying the herds in fine weather to extract the delicious alpine milk.

After a beautiful forest crossing, the landscape opens up as you enter the Mercuel valley. When you see the hamlet of Côtes and the little Saint Roc chapel with its lauze roof, you're not far from your refuge for the night...
Here it is in the distance, also clad in stone. The Archeboc refuge is there to welcome you after this first warm-up stage. You'll have to do a lot more climbing tomorrow morning!

Hopping over the many streams, you reach the Lac Noir, where the surrounding peaks are reflected. A little more effort and you reach the Col du Montséti. You've earned the right to put your bags down and admire the view! Down below, you can already make out the picturesque Sassière valley.

As you descend this other slope, the mineral atmosphere is reinforced by numerous scree slopes that are home to remarkable mountain flora, including the sumptuous violet of the Alpine toadflax.

Nestled between boulders and pastures, the Ruitor refuge awaits you, offering hospitality and local cheese tasting.
There's no doubt about it, this authentic interlude will really let you unwind.
