Explore the Chalet Napoléon III, in the Forêt d'Hérival! Near Plombières-les-Bains, the Chalet Napoléon III pays tribute to the Emperor's stays in these woods. Originally, a wooden chalet served as a refuge, replaced after a fire by a bark hut. Today, a modern chalet designed by the École des Technologies du Bois d'Épinal occupies the site. Combining natural materials and contemporary style, it retains an original sandstone table, a reminder of the past. Accessible via the Villerain forest road, this site steeped in history is an invitation to discover the heart of the Hérival forest.

The history of Hérival Priory goes back more than 900 years. In 1090, Engidalde built a hut in the Hérival valley. At the end of the 14th century, religious monks built a church and buildings in the Combeauté valley, marking the gradual abandonment of their eremitical character. A major reconstruction took place in the 18th century, but in 1789, peasants forcibly seized the property titles. The Priory was then listed as national property. In 1802, the church and monastic buildings were sold and demolished, leaving only the Logis des Hôtes, which had become a dwelling and farm. In the 19th century, the Fleurot family settled here, and one of their study skeletons is on display in the porch of the Logis des Hôtes. Today, although it is not possible to enter the private courtyard, information panels under the porch allow visitors to discover the history of the site.

In the heart of the Vosges, Laurent Grandgirard and his team offer you a cuisine with local or elaborate flavours where everything is cooked on the spot. A good table favouring local suppliers and seasonal products. Fresh frogs in season, specialities: Local menu (including Val d'Ajol andouille), munstiflette, Lorraine beef, Breuchin trout steak with passion fruit, salted butter caramel. Closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for lunch.

It originates at the Moulin Picard and through meadows, among the daffodils in spring and falls into a series of pots dug by erosion. It is the first significant tributary of the Combeauté. Below the waterfall, a picturesque vaulted bridge crosses the stream.
