13 - CHEMIN DU BOIS DE SALLES
Description
Trail accessible in winter.
A wooded hike that is a more discreet alternative to the GR10 to reach the village of Sode, where you will have a superb view. You can continue on to the village of Artigue!
From Salles town hall, turn right towards the centre of the village and then left towards Sode (signpost 13). In the forest you will come to a fork in the road, turn right towards Sode. Descend towards Juzet-de-Luchon on the GR10, then take the Départementale 125 as far as Salles.

Detailed stages
1 - From the Salles town hall car park, turn right towards the centre of the village, then left towards Sode (signpost 13).
2 - Follow the path past a farm and then up into the woods.
3 - Very quickly, the steep switchbacks take you higher up and you can enjoy a few gaps in the trees for a short break. Higher up, the trail becomes less steep.
5 - A sign points to the village of Artigue on the right along the GR10. Continue straight ahead and you will soon emerge from the forest and see the village of Sode (900 m) in front of you. Magnificent views over the Luchon valley.
4 - The return journey takes the same route.
