This beautiful itinerary allows you to discover the Forts de Briançon from La Vachette, with a series of short, sustained climbs and technical descents.
Sporty, technical loop around Briançon, passing close to numerous Vauban forts. Some sections are technical (roots and loose stones).
Cross the hamlet of La Vachette at the bottom (join the river then cross the bridge) to cross the main road.
Opposite the hamlet, join the forest track which continues along the left bank of the Durance: on the mountainside, it continues until it reaches the Fort des Têtes.
Follow the road and then a path to the lookout point at Lac Baldy.
Return to the D902 road and climb the military road to Fort d'Anjou, then switch to Fort des Têtes.
Go down to Pont d'Asfeld, then up the entire Cité Vauban to Champ de Mars.
Once at the Champ de Mars parking lot, cross over to take the asphalt road "Chemin des Salettes": this leads to a gravel track which leads to the Fort des Salettes.
Just before the entrance to the fort, climb to the left along a steep, stony path for 150m, then fork right onto a beautiful balcony path that leads to La Vachette.
