Le Grand Canal
Le Grand Canal est la création la plus originale d'André Le Nôtre. Ce vaste miroir d'eau s'étend sur 1670 mètres. Aménagé entre 1668 et 1679, ses dimensions ont été étudiées avec soin par l'architecte de Louix XIV afin de créer une parfaite perspective. Le Grand Canal accueillait les fêtes nautiques l'été et les traîneaux l'hiver, sur ses eaux gelées.
Bassin d'Apollon
Dès 1636, sous Louis XIII, existait à cet endroit un bassin, dit alors des Cygnes, que Louis XIV fit agrandir et orner du somptueux et célèbre ensemble en plomb doré représentant Apollon sur son char. L'œuvre de Turby, d'après un dessin de Le Brun, s'inspire de la légende d'Apollon, dieu du Soleil et emblème du Roi.
L'Encelade
La Fontaine de l'Encelade fut exécutée en plomb par Gaspad Marsy entre 1675 et 1677. Le sujet en est emprunté à l'histoire de la chute des Titans ensevelis sous les roches du Mont Olympe qu'ils voulurent l'escalader au mépris de l'interdiction de Jupiter. Le sculpteur a représenté un géant à demi englouti sous les roches, luttant contre la mort.
Les Dômes
Très fréquemment remanié, ce bosquet, non loin de l'Allée royale, changea de nom au gré des modifications apportées à son décor. Créé par Le Nôtre en 1675 et transformé en 1677 par Jules Hardouin-Mansart, ses deux pavillons de marche blanc surmontés de dômes lui donnèrent sa dénomination actuelle, bien que ces éléments aient été détruis en 1820.
Bassin de Flore
Situé au carrefour de plusieurs Bosquets, dont celui de la Reine, le bassin de Flore, déesse romaine des fleurs, des jardins et du printemps, symbolise la première saison de l'année. Sculptée par Tuby, elle est représentée avec une couronne de fleurs, au centre du bassin.
L'Obélisque
La fontaine de l'Obélisque fut construite par Jules Hardouin-Mansart en 1704, à l'emplacement de l'ancienne salle des Festins ou salle du Conseil, aménagée par Le Nôtre en 1671. Le décor de plomb servit alors à l'ornementation des bassins du jardin du Grand Trianon.
