Description

This trail invites you to discover the Solle Valley. It borders the Integral Biological Reserve of the Hauteurs de la Solle, some areas of which resemble a virgin forest despite, at the same time, the presence of a hippodrome.

L’Hippodrome de la Solle: it is one of the oldest hippodromes in France, with a rare location in the heart of the forest. The first races were organized by the Department Horseracing Society in 1862, shortly after its inauguration by Napoleon III. The hippodrome hosts every year about 20 races open to the public.

Integral Biological Reserves: regarded as a « biogeographical crossroads », the forest of Fontainebleau shelters considerable floristic and faunistic treasures. It includes more than 1000 hectares of Integral Biological Reserves. These areas are left free to evolve on their own, and are home to very old tree populations.

Cabaret Masson: the location of the present car park was named after a bar set up here on the occasion of military maneuvers, then during horse races at the hippodrome after 1862.

Prenez le chemin qui part du bout du parking qui vous mènera à la route du sport. Vous tournerez à droite.

Prenez à gauche sur la route du Mont Saint-Germain.

Information 3

Prenez à gauche sur le chemin qui se présente à votre gauche, puis continuez tout droit jusqu'à croiser la prochaine route (Route du Luxembourg).

Vous voilà arrivé Route du Luxembourg, prenez-la en vous dirigeant vers la droite.

Prenez la route du regard en empruntant la 2ème sortie à gauche.

Vous croisez maintenant la route de l'Union, prenez-la en tournant à gauche (ère sortie à gauche).

Tournez à gauche sur la route de la Vallée de la Solle. Continuez ainsi en longeant l'hippodrome de la Solle qui se situe à votre gauche.

Prenez le chemin à votre droite afin de contourner les quelques bâtiments à proximité de l'hippodrome.

Peu après être arrivé au bout de l'hippodrome, tournez à gauche sur la route du Luxembourg et continuez tout droit jusqu'à arriver au parking depuis lequel vous êtes parti.

Solle racecourse in Fontainebleau forest

Located in a green and natural setting in the forest of Fontainebleau, this racecourse is one of the oldest in France and hosts numerous races every year.Under the reign of Louis XVIth, in november 1776, the Duke of Artois and the Duke of Chartres organised the first horse race in Fontainebleau, to be watched by the king, here for the hunting season. This first event was very successful. The Solle Valley was chosen in 1852 by the Guard hunters. Stationed in Fontainebleau, they had cleared this space to use it as a training ground. After they left, young people would organise some races in a family atmosphere. The area being perfect, it was decided a racecourse would be built. It was done in 1862 and inaugurated by the Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie. Many horse races are organised during the season. Catering services available on site, booking necessary : 01 64 22 58 31. La Solle racecourse is : - About 2 100 starters every year. - 4 days of Quinté.
