On this difficult ascent with its 7.5% average gradient, you'll be surrounded by flower-filled mountain pastures and the peaceful herds of the Vanoise National Park. On arrival at 2764m, a high mountain landscape awaits you.
Departing from the beautiful village of Bonneval-sur-Arc, classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", you're in the "wheels" of the Tour de France as you climb one of the top 5 most challenging climbs in Savoie. You'll encounter alpine flowers, valleys and chalets, and high-mountain landscapes that get more and more mineral as you climb, with splendid views of the Haute Maurienne glaciers. The climb takes place entirely within the Parc de la Vanoise, and marmots will be your most faithful "supporters" when the gradient approaches 10%.

A fairly short 13km climb on this slope, but with almost 1000m of D+, mostly above 2000m! As soon as you leave the village of Bonneval sur Arc, following the D902, you'll find yourself on a gradient of 9%. You'll need to make the most of the two flat areas before embarking on the fearsome final stretch.
This climb can be done from either Modane or Lanslebourg, following the signposted "Haute Mauriennaise" itinerary.
