The Ancoeur Valley is rich in historical edifices, the most famous being the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte and the collegiate church of Champeaux. This tour allows you to see the fortified castle of Blandy-les-Tours, the Château of Bombon, and Champeaux. Certified by FFRandonnée.
Description of the route :
1. With your back to the parking area on Rue Saint-Martin, turn right and enter Rue de la Libération. At the crossroads, turn left. After the power line, take the path on the left, then the path on the right, then branch off onto the trail on the left and descend into the woods (Notre-Dame de Roiblay chapel).
2. Take the path on the right along the stream, then the road on the right. It climbs through the woods, winding and running along the edge of the Domaine de Bailly (private property) and the park of Château de Montjay (private property) before reaching Château de Bombon (private property).
3. Follow the road on the left, the path on the right, Rue du Château on the left, Rue de la Gerbette on the right, and the Gerbette path. Turn left into Rue du Bourg, then right past the town hall. Take the second street on the left up to Rue des Prés de l’Hôtel, turn left and go down to the crossroads. Take the path on the right along the housing development. Turn right, continue along the edge, turn right again, and at the bend take the path on the left. Keep the same direction, then go up the road on the right.
4. Cross the junction. Take the road on the left. At Flagy Mill, take the path on the right and reach Saint-Méry. Go up the street on the right, pass the church, then go up Rue de la Garenne on the left. Turn right, then left to reach the road to Bombon.
5. Go down to the crossroads and take the Abreuvoir path straight ahead. Cross the Ru des Moines stream and continue on the right to leave the woods (Moulin des Voies on the left). Walk along the factory walls and turn left to reach the RD215.
6. Cross it and take the path on the left, cross the stream, then follow it on the left. At Varvanne Mill, turn right at the left bend and continue straight ahead on the path. Enter Champeaux.
7. At the crossroads (Malvoisine Farm is 200 m to the right), turn left to enter Champeaux, then right into the Four Banal alley, then left to reach the Market Square. Go around it and take Rue du Cloître, pass in front of the Collegiate Church (open all year long, well worth a visit), then make a right-left turn onto the path leading to Rue du Pourtour des Fossés.
8. Turn left for 50 meters then right onto the Chaunoy Mill road. Follow the edge of Château d’Aunoy park (private property) on the right, then turn right and take the paved path on the left. Cross the RD47, keep left and go downhill. Follow the stream on the left, cross the RD47, cross the bridge on the right, and climb the path. It curves right and ends in front of the church, go around the castle (well worth a visit!) to return to the starting point.
