Through a journey punctuated with visual and sound effects, Louis Mandrin, a famous smuggler from the 18th century invites you to discover his universe: taverns, woods and hideouts in which he used to go. You may even be able to do some business with him!Le Repaire Louis Mandrin- Mandrin's hideout - is located in Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers, in the heart of the Pays du Lac d'Aiguebelette - Savoie foreland, last place where Mandrin lived as a free man. He was considered as a great smuggler however people have different points of view about him. Either he is considered as a nice smuggler similar to Robin Hood or he is a smuggler murderer who should not be remembered as a Robin Hood. Come and have your say. Indeed, you can travel in time with all your family and get to know a part of French History, follow Mandrin in his last adventure and maybe become a smuggler as well.

This waterfall, whose water gushes from a height of over 60 m, is classified as a "Sensitive Natural Area". It is open to the public all year round and can be admired from a special area. To preserve it, swimming, picnics and dogs are prohibited.To refresh yourself in summer, take advantage of the supervised swimming in July and August at the Glandieu lake, located 2 km from the waterfall, at the exit of the hamlet towards Brégnier-Cordon. Two car parks have been set up outside the hamlet. It is not possible to park in the immediate vicinity of the waterfall. A guided tour is organised by the Tourist Office to find out more about the history of the hamlet of Glandieu. Reservation required at the Tourist Office.

A place of life that has become a place of national remembrance, the Maison d'Izieu, a museum and memorial, offers visitors the opportunity to discover history, justice and remembrance today through guided tours of the house and its permanent and temporary exhibitions.When you arrive, a striking setting awaits you. At the end of the road, you can see the house with the blue shutters, where Sabine and Miron Zlatin took in over a hundred Jewish children to save them from anti-Semitic persecution. It was in this same house that, on the morning of 6 April 1944, on the orders of Klaus Barbie, one of the heads of the Gestapo in Lyon, 44 children and 7 of their teachers were rounded up and deported. Only one of the instructors, Léa Feldblum, returned. A memorial museum since 1994, Maison d'Izieu welcomes over 40,000 visitors a year, including 18,000 schoolchildren. Through the history of the colony, it seeks to convey a universal message of vigilance and the fight against all forms of discrimination. Located on a protected site classified as a historic monument, this residence perched on a hill in the Bugey-Sud region is a must-see in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, at the gateway to Isère and Savoie. You can take a guided tour of the house, evoking the lives of the children through letters, drawings and photos. The museum, housed in the former barn, is divided into three areas to explore in greater depth the historical context of the Second World War, the networks for rescuing Jewish children, international criminal justice, crimes against humanity and the construction of memory. Since 2022, one area of the museum has been dedicated to the exhibition of its collections, documents and objects that Maison d'Izieu preserves itself: the Galerie Zlatin. Each year, a temporary exhibition is scheduled to give visitors the chance to discover "real" archive documents!
