This beautiful, sporting route takes in two passes, including the Menté, often used by Tour de France riders.
From Marignac-St-Béat station, turn right at the roundabout and take the D125 to Chaum. Follow the signs for Fronsac. You are now at the foot of the Col des Ares (797m - 8.4km ascent - 330m ascent - % average: 4 - % maximum: 11). At the summit, descend towards Juzet d'Izaut and Sengouagnet. Begin the ascent of the Col de Menté (1349m - 16.8km ascent - 886m ascent - % average: 4.9 - % max: 12). You return to the starting point by descending to St-Béat-Lez, then covering 4km of false flat.
