This sporty itinerary is a good way to start out with a bit of elevation gain before tackling the mountain passes. Between the plains and the foothills of the Pyrenees, you'll find a variety of landscapes and pretty viewpoints along the way.
From Gourdan Polignan station, head towards Seilhan on the D8a, which will take you to St-Bertrand de Comminges and then Loures Barousse. Take the cycle lane towards Chaum. At the roundabout, turn left towards Fronsac and then the Col des Ares (797m - 8.4km climb - 330m ascent - % average: 4 - % maximum: 11).
At the summit, continue towards Juzet d'Izaut, Izaut de l'Hôtel, Payssous, Sauveterre de Comminges and Barbazan.
This brings you to the second difficulty on the route, the côte de Burs (600m - 1.74km ascent - 125m vertical drop - average %: 7.1 - maximum %: 7.1).
Continue towards Hauts de Labroquère and descend towards Labroquère. At the traffic lights, cross the D825 to take the cycle route back to Gourdan-Polignan.
