The scene of St-Marcellin in a natural cirque in the hollow of the impressive cliffs of Sauveterre is part of the classified area of the Gorges du Tarn registered on the UNESCO world heritage. It's an exceptional place with numerous environmental and landscaped wealth (sensitive natural space) which make it a symbolic site of the department. It's semi troglodytic hamlet consits of a priory adjacent to a Romanic chapel and its small cemetery, of a caussenarde house and vestiges of a rupestral fortification (forcia): St-Marcellin's castle. Many other vernacular elements such as source, baker's oven, jasses and balms, enrich these heritage. The hiking trails which crosses it, appears among 100 most beautiful strolls in France.
